Young Adult Fiction for Adults discussion
What are you reading now?
It stinks when you pick up a few books back to back and none of them are good.I get bored easily, so I like the story to grab me right away. Six months ago I had more patience for extreme/long world building. The more I read, the less patience I have for it.
I really enjoyed the Stephanie plum series until my to read list got longer...I need to get back to it...I am currently reading the end to a trilogy A Sweet Far Thing by Libba Bray
I really liked the Gemma Doyle trilogy (Sweet Far Thing), but know that not everyone else likes it.Have yet to try Stephanie Plum. At some point I just might, since a few people I know enjoy the series.
You should Stacia, they're easy reads. Stephs just an average woman with no super powers. Nothing complicated to remember. No new world rules to remember.
I'm on the 2nd Stephanie Plum book.. like them so far. Also just picked up the new Clare book.. Infernal Devices or something like that ...
Amanda wrote: "I just finished Bitten and Stolen by Kelley Armstrong. I really liked Bitten, Stolen wasn't great. There are a ton more book to the series, so I am hopei..."If you didn't like Stolen, you might not like Dime Store Magic. It focuses on Paige and Savannah from Stolen, and in my opinion, starts off very slow. It definitely got better towards the end.
Aboout to start
I really like Stephanie Plum too tough I have read only 3 or 4 books and not in order!

oooh an Eddings fan... I loved the Dreamers...
Last night I finally finished up
and am now on to
. I'm enjoying this series quite a bit. Good stuff.I find myself itching to get to
. Time is ticking and I'm only a few weeks away from the release of
and there is no way to resist
(how I dread the end of the series approaching - even though I already know how it ends)!
I just finished One for the Money by Janet Evanovich and it was a decent short read. The main character annoyed me a little, but the book was quite funny, I laughed out loud a few times, which makes up for Stephanie's lack of girl power. I just started book #2 Two for the Dough and I like it so far.
I read The Duff today. I thought it was great! The beginning felt a bit rushed, but after the first few chapters, it settled into place.
I finished
and it was a decent read I new it was about werewolves so I was hoping for a little more werewolf action so that was disappointing, but maybe in book two. :) I am now starting
its not bad so far but it feels a little more middle grade than YA.Half way through
its pretty good so far.

LOL I would have given them ten each if I could. I did give them all ..."I'm almost halfway through the book and I'm giving it just 3stars for now since I haven't got to the exciting part yet, I think. So far, I'm loving the humor Cassandra Clare made of Will. I do see so much Jace in him. :D
Finished Lover Eternal and Sticky Fingers over the weekend. Loved LE and thought SF was just ok. I'm now reading Lover Awakened and listening to Flawless on audiobook. I'm really digging the Black Dagger Brotherhood series.

I bought it from the UK! I actually finished it late last night and let me tell you, I absolutely LOVED it! I felt like I was on the edge of my seat throughout the entire book. It was awesome awesome awesome!
I'm starting Dancing in My Nuddy-Pants: Even Further Confessions of Georgia Nicolson by Louise Rennison in just a few minutes.
Finished
last night and today I have to read The Taming of the Shrew for my Shakespeare class. I think I'll start
tomorrow. :)
I can't believe I missed people talking about Soulless! I LOVE THAT BOOK. The voice does take a little bit of getting used to but once my brain started thinking in that old Victorian English I coulnd't stop thinking in it.Just started Birthmarked but I bought Blameless on the way to work today. Torn over what to read. I finished Nobody's Princess...was cute and easy. Not a great book but it worked well for my reading-mood.
Still listening to I am the Messenger and loving it.
Cassi wrote: "I can't believe I missed people talking about Soulless! I LOVE THAT BOOK. So jealous your already bought Blameless..LOL
I started I Am Number Four by Pittacus Lore, I am still working on Clockwork angel and I also started Janet Evanovich book #3 in the Stephanie Plum series. I am having a hard time getting into I am Number Four and Clockwork Angel. I am in the mood for adult romance novels I guess......
Heidi I wrote: "Traci I loved Bloody Jack. Kourtni good to know you loved Monster's. I am super excited now!"I can't wait to hear/read what you think.
Amanda.. I'm interested to see what you think of I am Number Four. I hope you enjoy it more than I did. However.. I challenge you to a game of How Many Typos Can You Find?!
I put Birthmarked on hold and started Blameless. Changeless left on a bit of a cliff hanger so I need this book!
I'm reading
and I like it so far. I've laughed out loud a few times! Even the cover is funny, hahaha. I know what you are, vampire!
I have been away visiting my future in-laws, deep breaths, and have started
and am liking it so far. It took a bit to get into because it is a unique take on paranormal world with a side of steampunk. I did finish Return to Paradise and thought it was alright - cheese and teen romance quick fix for sure.
Jaimie wrote: "I have been away visiting my future in-laws, deep breaths, and have started

I finished
. It was actually pretty good. Her writing style was very easy to read and the plot was decent.
i just finished "Lover Awakened" part of the blackdagger brotherhood series. AMAZING!! i love this series...i still have 5 more books to read, but i need to finish "The Hunger Games" series. "Mockingjay" just came out and i need to finish the book.
Starting
today after just having finished
again. I love that book for it's dark beginnings and hopeful endings.
Mine too! I've never wondered why it got the Newbery medal unlike some books. It is incredibly well-written and deals with hard issues in an interesting, sensible, and subtle way.
I just finished Blameless....it was awesome! Also I want to say that if you don't follow Gail Carriger on twitter you should. Any time someone mentions her books she retweets or responds.
I haven't even read Changeless yet!! Glad to hear you liked Blameless. They are both in my TBR!!I will go and add Gail Carriger to my twitter I like have authors on there because you often can get the latest scoop about there books..LOL
Traci wrote: "Amanda.. I'm interested to see what you think of I am Number Four. I hope you enjoy it more than I did. However.. I challenge you to a game of How Many Typos Can You Find?!"This book is in my TBR pile. But oh, do I hate typos! They are mental speed-bumps to me while I read. Now I'm not so sure how much I want to read this book. Running a spell-check does not replace a proofreader/editor. Sigh.
I actually picked up Lord of Misrule because I was anxious to get to it after book 4, then diligently put it back down to finish up a couple that I had already started.Although, I can't complain really. Hourglass Door has been interesting so far.
I just finished "Every Little Thing in the World" and found it completely insipid. Don't waste your time...too convenient and chintzy plot.I'm listening to "Marcelo in the Real World" on audio and it is FANTASTIC!
Kayla wrote: "i just finished "Lover Awakened" part of the blackdagger brotherhood series. I finished Flawless, the second book in the Pretty Little Liars series, and just thought it was ok. I've decided not to continue the PLL series due to a disagreement with how the author dealt with a character I love. Yeah-I took it personally, lol.
I've moved on to Lover Revealed and plan to read the rest of the BDB series. I'm also going to pick up something on audiobook, I just don't know what yet...
I finished Birthmarked and actually really liked it (I'd heard mixed reviews of it). Some things felt a little contrived at times but otherwise it was good. I need Book 2 (which is still titleless)b/c I want to know what happens to a particular character. Only I'm not sure Book 2 even deals with that.Listening to Secret Life of Bees which I grabbed from the library for lack of choices and was a bit nervous about (it looks girlier than my normal reads) but the first disk so far is really good.

I am starting the Stephanie Plum series One for the Money by Janet Evanovich. Anyone read it yet? I've started several series lately and they seem to be getting worse, not better.
