I listed to it on audio book and I couldn't really get into it. I found it to be a bit overdramatic honestly.

That's a bummer :/ I've heard plenty of mixed reviews so I figured it's time to decide for myself.

I didn't know that was a book! I saw the movie trailer and was intrigued so hopefully the book works out nicely for you :)

Me too! I gave up midway through. Needless to say her "reasons" did not ring true to me.

I just finished Delirium (Delirium, #1) by Lauren Oliver That has got to be one of my all time favorite reads

Daria (dariadeptula) Finished Leviathan (Leviathan #1) by Scott Westerfeld , which was awesome!

message 8763: by Heidi (new)

Heidi Yay for Changeless on audio! I still here the Lord saying "Alexia" all frustrated in my head. Yay also for Prisoner of Azkaban (one of my favs) and Knife of Never Letting Go (it is weird at first - don't give up!)

message 8764: by Heidi (new)

Heidi I am nearly done with Sorta Like a Rock Star by Matthew Quick , which is by far one of the quirkiest books I have read this year. True (you will only get that if you've read it). Plan to start The Raging Quiet by Sherryl Jordan tonight. Woot!

message 8766: by Cori (new)

Cori | 9 comments I just finished " The Gathering" by Kelley Armstrong, which was really good and I am about to start "The Demon's Lexicon" by Sarah Rees Brennan. I'm kinda iffy on this one, any thoughts?

message 8767: by Wendy Darling (new)

Wendy Darling (wendydarling) | 193 comments Cori, I liked the beginning of Demon's Lexicon a lot but gradually found the main character pretty off-putting. However, I hear book two is better, which is why it's on my bedside table from the library!

I just finished
Falling Under (Falling Under, #1) by Gwen Hayes
which took me by surprise at the end

And am currently reading
Banished (Banished, #1) by Sophie Littlefield .

Yea for the Chaos Walking trilogy! Probably one of my favorite reads of 2010.

message 8769: by Lloyd (new)

Lloyd | 415 comments I can't stop reading The Astonishing Adventures of Fanboy and Goth Girl by Barry Lyga ! Which is a good thing since I've been reading pieces of this and pieces of that (other than Young Samurai The Way of the Dragon (Young Samurai, #3) by Chris Bradford , which I'm still reading before bed). Not sure if it's empathy for the main character (since I was once a comic nerd). But I'm really enjoying it. Picked up the sequel at Amazon this weekend for $2.97 ( Goth Girl Rising by Barry Lyga . I'm already intrigued with Kyra's character too, so I'm looking forward to it.

Julie I just finished Infinity (Chronicles of Nick, #1) by Sherrilyn Kenyon and I really liked it but I felt like there were alot of things that just popped up and never got explained and it left me a little confused as to how everything came about. Maybe I'll figure it out in the next book.

I wondered about that, since this is a young version of a character in her adult novels, isn't it?

message 8772: by Julie (new)

Julie I think it ties in with one of her adult series, I've heard people say you didn't need to read that series to understand The Chronicles of Nick but I'm not so sure. It was a funny book though.

message 8779: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer (jsills3) | 159 comments Julie, I am half way through and so far I like it. It has some hard to read spots but then again, the material is sensitive. I work with teens and preteens so unfortunately, I hear of things like this some.

Lloyd | 415 comments I finished up The Astonishing Adventures of Fanboy and Goth Girl by Barry Lyga on the way home last night. I really, REALLY, liked this book. Maybe because I could really relate to the main character in many ways. It was a satisfying read that left me wanting more.

Thankfully, I had just downloaded Goth Girl Rising by Barry Lyga and was able to start in on it. Great timing, because I didn't have to wait so long for it, like fans of the first book. Barry Lyga has a new follower, as I'm sure I'll read his other books once I finish these up. :)

Wendy Darling (wendydarling) | 193 comments Oh Kristina, if like Anna and the French Kiss, you might try this one:

Sixteenth Summer by Michelle Dalton

It's super cute! Really puts you in the mood for summer. :)

And Cambria, can't wait to hear what you think of Hex Hall...

message 8786: by Julie (new)

Julie I almost done with Ship Breaker (Ship Breaker, #1) by Paolo Bacigalupi and I love it so far! I hope the ending is good too...and I just now realized that it's the first of a series so I hope it's not a huge cliff hanger at the end.

Wendy Darling (wendydarling) | 193 comments Hah, Cécilia! Is there a sock puppet among us?

Cassi aka Snow White Haggard | 2261 comments I saw that a few days ago & didn't say anything because I wasn't in the mood. I went to their page & noticed they were a part of this group:

http://www.goodreads.com/group/show/3...

I've noticed on twitter that agents are complaining that people who are self-pubbed claimed to be indie & they insist there is a difference. I think its interesting how people prefer different words & change the definitions of words to suit their purposes. I mean no offense but I think it's really fascinating how words change over time.

message 8795: by Arphaxad (last edited May 21, 2011 04:14PM) (new)

Arphaxad | 335 comments Haha! Good one Cécilia. I seem to be seeing a lot of authors doing this lately.. :S

message 8796: by Kurukka (new)

Kurukka Yeah, tss, tss. Doesn't make me want to read the books. It's like people who register on forums just to promote their site/forum/blog/whatever.

Cassi aka Snow White Haggard | 2261 comments Cécilia wrote: "Yeah, tss, tss. Doesn't make me want to read the books. It's like people who register on forums just to promote their site/forum/blog/whatever."

I added one self-pubbed book from this group to my TBR pile & will buy it. I can't remember who it was (I know you're around here somewhere) but they came forward and said "This is my book" and I was like "that takes a lot more guts" so I am going to give it a shot.

Part of me thinks we should join that group and create an open letter to self-pubbed authors or something. Because whoever is telling them that this is a good promotional tactic is an idiot.

message 8798: by Wendy Darling (last edited May 21, 2011 04:34PM) (new)

Wendy Darling (wendydarling) | 193 comments I'm a big supporter of indie authors (I think it's one of the best things about owning a Kindle), because I think it's pretty cool that we get to read work by authors before they're well-established. But there's a way to promote yourself and a way to turn people off online, and having a sock puppet account in order to push your books is one of the best ways to alienate potential readers. Because it's not only annoying, but it's also dishonest.

The authors who hang out on GoodReads and make a lot of friends here are the ones take the time to engage in conversations and are clearly readers and active members of the community, as well as marketers and self-promoters. It's not too hard to spot the difference.

message 8799: by Heidi (last edited May 21, 2011 04:32PM) (new)

Heidi Ugh! I am so sick of self promotion. There are several authors on GR that actually post things other than self promotion about their book and I def. take notice of them and would be encouraged to read their work. I appreciate when authors comment on other things because it shows they are a fellow book lovers. The posters who I only see once to promote a book and are gone I ignore and put them on my "never read" list.

Cassi aka Snow White Haggard | 2261 comments I really been into social media for a long time (was on twitter before all the teenagers) and there are always people who seem to lose the "social" aspect. I've told and told people that if you just use social media to promote things you're not doing it right. It's suppose to be a conversation, not an advertisement.

I honestly think goodreads should have some kind of policy about these sock-puppet accounts. Because its dishonest and unethical. I only see it getting worse with the popularity of e-books growing.
