Random Book List #339 (ends June 11)
I had advanced copies of both Marked in Flesh for Vision in Silver and Fire Touched for Shifting Shadows: Stories from the World of Mercy ThompsonBoth books were awesome!
#274 UpdateStone Guardian by Danielle Monsch ★★★✰✰
I enjoyed the world building and loved the hero - a gargoyle clan chief, but like many first in series, it will take a another book or two to settle into the many characters and their roles.
I have read
(for Oblivion) on 9th February.3 stars.
Someone told me to read Shadows before continuing Lux series because it offers important character insight. Honestly, I was not impressed. Dawson is less interesting brother in my opinion and I was not swept away by his love story. Daemon is much more interesting. ;)
I finished
rather late though. Still I enjoyed this collection of short stories from the Mercy Thompson world. 5 stars.
Random Book List #279Goal: Read ONE book from the list within a four-week period. Post a brief commentary about the book you read.
Based on
Shifting Shadows: Stories from the World of Mercy Thompson by Patricia Briggs, here is our new list: Duration: March 1 - 29, 2016

I didn't get to this one from Random List #274, so I'll try it again here (in place of Shadowfever).Bloodfever by Karen Marie Moning
I have been meaning to start this series for some time, so #1 World of the Lupi Tempting Danger by Eileen Wilks instead of Unbinding.
I finished
for
on 3/3. I really enjoyed this first book in the series. I will definitely be continuing with it. 4*

I finished
today. Despite its poetic prose and multiple POVs, I thought the book just simply rambled along. 4 stars.
Read
(for Queen Song by Victoria Aveyard) on 22. Mar. 3 stars.I loved the first book i this series, but the second one was very boring and felt like a copy/mix of elements from popular ya novels.
Read
(for Written in Red by Anne Bishop) on 13. Mar. 4 starsMarked in Flesh was my favorite in The Others series so far. Anne Bishop dared to expand the story beyond familiar characters and it payed off (in my opinion). I can't wait to find out will Others and humans live in harmony in the sequel.

I finished
3/11. It was 3 stars. It seemed to be setting us up for Derek and Julie when she's off age
I read Tempting Danger the first in the lupi series instead of #11 Unbinding. Tempting Danger is a rewrite / expansion of the novella Only Human. A 4 star read.Sorry for the late reply - very spotty internet at the moment.

Skin Game by Jim Butcher (1)Yz - Dead Beat 4/17 *****
The Ruby Circle by Richelle Mead
An Apple for the Creature (anthology)
I will continue the Kate Daniels series by reading #3 Magic Strikes Ilona Andrews instead of #7 Magic Breaks
I read Magic Strikes Ilona Andrews #3 Kate Daniels instead of #7 Magic Breaks As it was the 3rd in the series there was less emphasis on world building and more on character building. Paranormal May 4 ★★★★✰
I have read
(for Firefight by Brandon Sanderson) on 6th April ★★★Brandon Sanderson is a very good writer. (One of my favorite in fact.) But I don't feel like this novella was anything special. It was short and I can bet I won't remember anything in a couple of months, except for a cool super power that Mitosis had.

Read
(for Archangel's Legion by Nalini Singh) on 15. May. 3 starsWhen I heard that his book is about Dmitri I was excited, I was glad for a break from Raphael and Elena, but I found I missed them and the series was not same without them.

See this was my favorite book in the series because it didn't feature Elena & Raphael. I loved this book and all the rest focusing on the other characters!!!

Yeah I expected I will like it because I was bored with Raphael and Elena and ended up missing them and whenever they appear wishing it was longer and wondering what was happening with them.... That proves you just can't please some people. ;)
I read
for
. This was probably a 'it's me not you' sort of book. I didn't enjoy it- I knew going in I wasn't going to like the MC Chess (Cesaria). Unfortunately, I was right. Too bad as I thought the world and debunking etc was interesting. I also didn't like most of the other characters - not sure if this is because we see them all through Chess' eyes/clouded vision or not but still didn't like them. Felt bad for what happened to Brain. Terrible actually was a likable character for a 'enforcer/thug'. This was a 2-ish star I bumped up to 3 on GR do to thinking the world was interesting.

I only read the first one....not really planning on continuing.

I hard a hard time but like Kate Daniel, end of book 2 made me a believer
Chess is a really divisive character. I couldn't stand her but I loved Terrible. He deserved so much more. I only got as far as #2, but I own #3 so I may read it later, much later.
I had a hard time with her habit and the fact the author insisted on not "dealing" with that problem. But I loved Terrible
Thanks exactly what I didn't like. I can't keep reading a series if I truly dislike the MC. Just doesn't work for me especially if this problem is never addressed/taken care of - makes me want to read them less not more. I can work with world building that I may need to read more about (or re-read portions of the book) but not main characters I don't care for.
I had emailed the author a few years back and she said that the habit is what made Chess "flawed" yet lovable. Humanized her etc. the author said she had no plans to fix it because then Chess won't be chess. I didn't care for the answer. I did really enjoy the series though
I had stalled on the archangels series and as a couple more books have been published in the series I decided a reread of #6 Archangel's Legion was in order to immerse myself back in the world of the Guild Hunter series. As I began re-reading I recalled being disappointed mainly that it wasn't a love story of a new couple but a continuation of Raphael and Elena from books 1 and 2. For me this book devolved into a horror story in lots of ways (view spoiler)

Random Book List #289I finished reading

I finished reading Curtsies & Conspiracies by Gail Carriger and gave it three stars. This series is like a steam punk version of Harry Potter if he were a girl. I liked it, the story is interesting but there's a lot of school politics between students and plotting around teachers. I haven't read her other series inorder to compare and contrast but so far so good!
