GigiReads What if we have already read a couple of the books on the list? Pick a new one, or write up and oldie?

You would need to pick a new one, unless you plan to do a reread. Feedback about books you've read are also appreciated, so you can recommend the good ones, or warned them from the bad ones.

message 59: by Lynne (new)

Lynne (lovetoreadgal) | 1182 comments I've finished my book selection from the first list and am wondering about the next book list. If I understand correctly, the books that people picked will help to generate the next list. But, I really hated my book. If others felt the same way, would our book be considered in generating books for the next list? I didn't know anything about this author and just kind of picked randomly from the books that I hadn't read. So, I don't want the fact that I picked the book to help pick more like it. Does that make sense?

Good point, Lynne. Sorry to hear that your book wasn't good. I would still need you to post the book you completed and your brief commentary. There will be 4 Random Book Threads so if your book won in its thread, you might want to check the other threads then. I hope it makes sense.

Sandra | 4260 comments Sorry Yz, nothing appealing in List 2, will wait to see what's in next weeks list.

No worries. There will always be a new list each week.

message 63: by Ceej (new)

Ceej (drqangel) | 1015 comments I just finished Wild Card. I know I should not have been reading a book like this at work but it was too hard to resist! Totally hot sensual book and the story wasn't half bad either. I think the way Leigh brought Noah back to himself was better than I've seen most authors. I mean he didn't just up and admit he loved Bella. He truly had to work on himself.

And now, thanks to another challenge, I am adding a new series to my TBR lol

message 70: by Yz the Whyz, Moderator (new)

On the specific thread, where you pick the book from.

Yz the Whyz (whyz) | 9327 comments New list for Thread 2 is up:

http://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/4...

message 72: by Yz the Whyz, Moderator (new)

Yz the Whyz (whyz) | 9327 comments It has been suggested that a new thread is created every time a new list is put up, since it is easy to overlook when a new list is added to an old thread.

Any feedback?

message 73: by Dee (new)

Dee (austhokie) | 7316 comments maybe just change the title of the thread...so it says somethign like new list as of xx date

message 74: by Fran, Moderator (new)

Fran | 12286 comments Dee, that might work. I do forget that there is a new list on the older threads, and I end up remembering and checking, but a new title would be great.

message 75: by Penney (new)

Penney (pschoener) | 3553 comments Is there any way you can send out a 'reminder' to let people know the new list was added or is that too much work?

message 76: by Sheila (new)

Sheila (sheilaj) Maybe something like Random List #3 part 2?

message 77: by Yz the Whyz, Moderator (new)

Yz the Whyz (whyz) | 9327 comments Penney wrote: "Is there any way you can send out a 'reminder' to let people know the new list was added or is that too much work?"

I don't mind sending out an event reminder, but since a new list is launched every week, it might get annoying for the members who are not into this specific challenge.

message 78: by Yz the Whyz, Moderator (new)

Yz the Whyz (whyz) | 9327 comments Sheila wrote: "Maybe something like Random List #3 part 2?"

Dee and Sheila,

Hmm....I like the idea of changing the thread title.

message 79: by Fran, Moderator (new)

Fran | 12286 comments Thanks Yz! The additions you put on the original threads are perfect!

message 80: by Sheila (last edited Dec 20, 2010 07:11AM) (new)

Sheila (sheilaj) I agree with Fran. The new titles help a lot (nice touch including the dates in the thread title). I'm trying to keep up with all 5 lists so it is a little difficult to keep track of when what is due. Thanks Yz this should make it easier to follow.

message 81: by Yz the Whyz, Moderator (last edited Dec 20, 2010 07:55AM) (new)

Yz the Whyz (whyz) | 9327 comments Glad that this works out.

Also, I'm going to post the new list every Monday, so for those who like this challenge, that is the day to watch for a new list.

Also I will make sure that the current list can be viewed on the first message of each thread.

message 82: by D.G. (new)

D.G. | 4477 comments Yup, it definitely helps to have a new title in the thread as well as the due date. :)

message 83: by Gen (new)

Gen (gen454) | 282 comments I like your idea Yz. It is an interesting process.

message 84: by Yz the Whyz, Moderator (last edited Feb 05, 2011 01:50PM) (new)

Yz the Whyz (whyz) | 9327 comments I have this challenge running on for almost two months now.

Personally, I have tried to read a book from each list that was posted. I even made a list of books I have read for the different lists. I'm going to go ahead and post my list here.

I'm curious if there are members who tries to do the same thing. If you are one who does, feel free to post your own list. I would love to see your progress.

D.G. | 4477 comments Wow, you've done great Fran!

I check every week but given the timeframe (it always take at least a week to get books from my library), I can only do books I already have.

message 90: by Fran, Moderator (new)

Fran | 12286 comments Thanks D.G.- I've been lucky, for most of them my library has had them in or the ebook online service for the library has had them. I actually had Darkfever as a free download on my kindle from so long ago and I'm so glad I finally read it- I loved it!

message 91: by D.G. (new)

D.G. | 4477 comments I've heard soo many things about the Fever series! I'll start it later this year. :)

Jane (PS) | 24343 comments I just loved Darkfever - read it last month and HAD to buy the next three books straight away!

Jane, I took Bloodfever out of the library the other day, let me know if you want to do a buddy read with me- I can start any time :)

message 94: by Jane (PS), Moderator (new)

Jane (PS) | 24343 comments Oooh yes Fran. I just have to knock off Dark Peril - Bloodfever was next on my list! I'm guessing tomorrow - ie 24 hours - not sure what time of day it is over there! LOL!

Dee (austhokie) | 7316 comments you guys might as well block out the next week and just knock the other 4 out...

Dee, I am going to try and savor them slowly! (fat chance, right?)

Jane, it's Wednesday night here in NY, so how about Friday morning my time? I have to finish the one I started today. So about 36 hours from now?

message 97: by Jane (PS), Moderator (new)

Jane (PS) | 24343 comments OK Fran - I think that will roughly be my Friday night. Just remember - I'll probably be slower than you - but who cares!! :)

Dee - unfortunately I have other books I have to read for the challenges. I don't have book 5 yet either. I was hoping to get the MMPB version in 6/8 months or whenever...
