Indonesians Who Love English Books discussion
Hello and Welcome!

What Are You Reading?
@Lynossa: Yeey, long live Hannibal. I didn't watch the series though. No time for that. Maybe will pick the dvd later. Will always worship Sir Anthony Hopkins!! No one can play Lecter better!!
You should read the book. Those were awesome. And I got to say earlier I had my doubt about Mads Mikkelsen, but he does great on Hannibal. He doesn't try to immitate Anthony Hopkins, he made it his own, which is good, imo.
I'm just starting The Satanic Verses by Salman Rushdie. I'm curious why this book is so controversial...

recently found this group.. I have just finished read gone girl by gillian and currently read the teashop girl by laura shauffer and roma by robin wijaya. nice to meet you all

I am now reading
. ...prefer to read the book first, hence watching the movie (Bradley Cooper came out perfect in my mind as Pat Peoples)..anticipating every pages of the book each time I'm not reading it.
My most recent English novel is The Light Between Two Oceans. I like the premise about two families fighting over a baby, but the pace was slow and sometimes boring so I kinda put the book on hold until I find the mood to resume it.
@Linda: I agree with the pacing. There were many flashbacks for certain characters. I enjoyed the book though. I hope you could finish it :DI'm currently reading Ender's Game for the read along and John Connoly's "Every Dead Thing". The last one is in Indonesian.
I'm juggling Invisibility and Entwined with You. And I don't have the drive to finish either of them. I think my reading mojo has taken a hit.

I hope you could finish it :DNot sure if I can...there're so many in my wishlist now and at the rate of my purchase, I prolly will not get back to it any soon :P...but considering it was quite pricey, I will definitely continue it somehow.
Right now am reading my latest purchase
. Love the writing style of the author and how she touches all the aspects of life and relationship we can totally relate to. Will definitely read more from her.
Currently reading Dan Brown's Inferno. and can't wait to read the story of edgar sawtelle by David Wroblewski.
Currently reading my latest purchase, The Reindeer People. An advantage of having two e-readers: you can read the same book as your husband at the same time :p No more taking turns.
Currently reading Salman Rushdie's 'Midnight Children' while being frowned upon by my husband and Stephen King's - 'Full Dark No Stars'. Full Dark No Stars is a short story collection which is great, to pick up and put down from time to time.
As for Midnight Children, wacky style with vivid images. But not captivating enough.
Labored with Midnight Children until half-way through before I gave up and abandoned it. I couldn't make sense of the plot.
Currently, I'm reading
by Mary Renault.I'm curious to read about this novel because of the theme and the setting. Fact that this book was written in '53, adding my curiosity.
Oh, because usually I'm so disappointed when watch movie based on books, Lynossa. Like Harry Potter, Eragon and The Hunger Games, I'm not impressed with the director change from the books. For Lord of The Ring, well, I hear that Peter Jackson make some major changes in the movie, so read the book will complete the missing link :)

I'm juggling WWZ with Stiff: The Curious Lives of Human Cadavers. Both are full of description of corpses, I have to put them down whenever I go to eat.

Peter Jackson did cut a lot of scenes from the books. Many scenes in the book are actually quite pointless to the actual plot (although I personally still enjoyed the whole trilogy), and you may get really annoyed. Have you got to the part of Tom Bombadil? After finishing the whole Bombadil subplot, all I could think of was "wtf was that!"

Exactly my sentiment, Tom Bombadil is one of my favorite part of the fellowship. Although in Peter Jackson's defense, it was too long to be in one movie.
Speaking of him, I really think he kinda ruins The Hobbit though *sad*

Is reading
It is for my reading challenge, only 5 days to finish this book. Luckily it was quite thin.
Snow Country was beautiful even if I can't really make sense of the plot. The beauty of its sentences is something I wonder whether it can be learned or just something acquired. The book I'm now reading State of Wonder also much reminded me of Animal Dreams which was also beautiful in its prose.
Just started reading The Lies of Locke Lamora on my Kindle. This is the first time I've read a kindle edition, and I must say that I... am surprised that it is actually a really comfortable experience. I always thought that reading an e-book is a tiring process (because I always read e-book on computer), but I guess I'm wrong when it comes to kindle :)

Despite the fact that I had difficulty in understanding some Old English words, I managed to finish the book and glad that I did. It has a slow pace but to me, that what makes this book so good. I have plenty of time to relate to the characters and understand their actions. Just read it, won't regret it :)
I'm currently reading The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society since I really want to read an epistolary novel and according to friend, this one is an enjoyable read. so, I give it a try.
After finishing The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society, I read Openly Straight and finished it in less than one day yesterday :)Now, I'm reading another YA novel, My Life Next Door and so far, it's still enjoyable :)

I am currently reading The Burial a debut by Aussie author Courtney Collins. I could not put it down. It's a gripping tale narrated with an incredibly lyrical prose. I'm aware that this book may not be available in Indonesia (in print) but I got this off Kindle, so some of you may be able to purchase it on there.
I will have finished this in a couple of days then will move on to the group reading (WWZ has been on my list for a while now).
Folks, we are currently in the process of nominating books for our next group read, so please join the discussion over at the Book Nominaton thread. See ya there.
And btw, it's not at all too late to join our sci-fi group read. Happy reading!

Tirta wrote: "@Abiyasha, I love My Life Next Door! Hope you like it too :)"I do love it! :) In fact, I may fall n love with Jase, lol. I love how the writer portrayed him. So mature for his age and so responsible. I won't be surprised if this movie will hit big screen one day. It has the potential to be adapted into movie.
I'm reading
Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistle Stop Cafe at the moment and so far, feel a bit lazy to read :p But, I have to finish it this week since I already set another book to read once I finished this one :)
Any JK Rowling die-hards present? Do you know that she wrote a crime novel titled Cuckoo's Calling under a pseudonym Robert Galbraith, published last April?
I just posted about this on Twitter. The ebook/Kindle version is a bloody rip off! Nearly $17 for a single book. But I might cave in depending on how I go with my TBR!
Just finished with The Lies of Locke Lamora. Now will read Lapis Lazuli (an Indonesian fantasy) and after that will continue with The Killing Moon.

Currently reading The Twelve in the middle of my busy work life. I think I'll buy WWZ and read it after this.
