Updating as I go for now . . . MARTINA'S NOVEMBER READING CHALLENGE - 2/10 FINISHED
Last night I finally finished The Path of Razors (Vampire Babylon, #5) by Chris Marie Green (★★★★). This series is vampire UF.
The series is about stuntwoman - turned vampire hunter, Dawn Madison. Dawn joins a mis-fit crew of vampire hunters seeking to destroy the vampire "undergrounds" around the world. The first three books take place in Hollywood, with the next three in London. Toss in a good background story, a complicated sexual relationship, and you've got an entertaining an pretty unique vampire series!
I loved the first three books of this series (which is sorta its own trilogy) but fourth one, which is also the first book of a new trilogy, left me unimpressed - which is why this book has been sitting on my to-read shelf for over a year. However, I was pleasantly surprised this time around! I found that the story picked up and was more engaging than book #4 was, which is leaving me wanting to read book #6 very soon!

I just finished Archangel's Kiss (Guild Hunter, #2) by Nalini Singh (★★★★). This is a UF series about Elena Deveraux, a Guild Hunter. A guild hunter is basically a human with supernatural abilities that allow her to scent, and therefore hunt, vampires. The world construct is basically a parallel version of ours in which angels exist. Angels aren't messengers of god, though, but a separate, powerful species that must occassionally create a vampire to continue its existance.
It's hard to explain this book without giving spoiling the first one, so let's just say that at the beginning of this book, Elena wakes from a long coma to find herself . . . changed. Most of the book is about how she deals with these changes. There's also a more in-depth glimpse at the angels' society and history, more about Elena's troubled past, more romance/relationship issues, and of course, a big-baddie (techincally two of them) to be deal with.
I remember REALLY liking the first book in this series, but it's been SO long since I've read it. I worried about jumping right into this one without re-reading #1, but went for it anyways. That said, I may have missed/forgotten some of the elements of book 1, but it didn't dampen my enjoyment of this second book. I very much enjoyed it and can't wait for the next in the series, Archangel's Consort, to be released in January.
