Although I read the short story prior to starting this and enjoyed it for the most part, I just really wasn't impressed with this one. I feel it could have used a better setup/review of the world building before jumping into the story, especially considering this was officially the 1st book in a series. I don't think I'll be reading any more in this particular series, as it just isn't my cup of tea.

I've had that one for a while now sitting in my TBR. Guess I could let it sit a bit longer. LOL!

I know what you mean re: lack of world building. I just read a #1 like that and it was very frustrating. I don't need it to take up the whole book, leaving no story, but really give us something to go on.

finished today - 2/14/11 and got 3 stars.

Review:
The style of the story reminds me a little bit of Christopher Moore. It is refreshing to read a book where being a vampire or a werewolf doesn't automatically mean you are some hot guy. Lots of interesting, new ideas with a good sense of humor.

What I enjoyed:
* Having paranormal beings just trying to be ordinary people.
* Zombie cows!!!
* Pig Latin
* The Magic 8 ball

What could have been better:
* Gil
* So many weird and wacky things happening that are taken in-stride, that it almost goes overboard.

Now, I'm DYING to read the last installment! Things that were hinted at are starting to develop, and it's excruciating to have to wait several more months to find out what will happen!

I enjoyed finding out more about Georgina and her long past...and can't say any more of my thoughts on it because they'd be spoilers!!! AGHHHH!

The books are griping for me....lots of issues to deal with and so much happening! I just finished it, and will try and add more after I compose some non-spoiler thoughts!

So I finished today (15/2) and rated it 3 stars.

This book is the second installment of the Queen Betsy 'Undead' series.

Betsy is a new Vamp that has been raised to Queen level almost overnight - but with the title, comes responsibilities (such as finding killers) and many 'devout followers'.

It was an easy read - not intense in the slightest, which made it just a 'nice' book to read.

This was an almost perfect book, in fact i can't think of anything i didn't like and i didn't detect any faults. It was written in a clean, evocative style that grabbed my interest and never let go. The characters were marvellous and i got to fall in love along with them, the middle of the book especially was beautiful, I loved the slow developing of a friendship into love during those long summer days... The paranormal element was also original and wonderfully done. Kudos to the author for an amazing debut novel.
