October Challenge ~ Halloween reading

Duration - 1st October 2010 to 31st October 2010

It’s Halloween this month so our challenge is to read books with creatures of the night in them, keep the books on the scary rather than funny side if you can! Not a difficult challenge this month, the hard bit is choosing your books!

The full challenge is all six of the categories. The minimum challenge is one vampire or witch book! (we can all manage that right!) If you like you can have more vampires/weres/shifters/witches for categories 5 +6!

1. Witch as the main/major character (including warlocks, magical beings etc)
2. Vampire as the main/major character
3. Werewolf or shifter as the main/major character
4. Demon, ghosts or some other creature as the main/major character
5. Free choice of creature of the night from an author you have read before.
6. Free choice of creature of the night, this can be horror rather than PNR/UF if you like!

Bonus: A REALLY scary read!!!

Those are my choices of the moment. Again, would love any help I can get with the witch novel. I am honestly looking for a good series revolving around a witch and I would prefer it to be a terrifying series (if possible!). I will decide my demon/ghost book in a few days!

I don't have a lot of experience with books revolving around witches either but I really enjoyed The Hollows series by Kim Harrison. Sadly, the first book took a little time for me to get into, but I loved the series as a whole. Just an idea... ;)

I think I'm going to take up your suggestion and go with The Hollows series. I read up on the first novel and it did sound very interesting. I can handle one series that isn't dedicated to horror! HA!
