I wonder when was the last time any of our politicians had to check the price before deciding if they could afford to purchase a book?! Bad form inmho!

They looked to be having a fantastic time in the flowers. They are a stunning animal; regardless of their ferocious reputation. :)

Poutine is a big yes. It is a heart attack on a plate but very good. However, I suspect the best poutine will be found in Quebec.

I don't know much about Australia food, Michael and brenda. But I hear that Pavlova is a contentious issue between Aus and NZ.

Pretty much Melissa...it originated from NZ and Aus claims it for their own;)

Also, Tim Tams are fantastic. They remind me of the Penguin biscuits my grandma used to give us when we visited.

Michael is right...when my daughter was in England a few years ago, she discovered an Aussie shop which sells vegemite, cadbury chocolate, tim tams and the rest. She was amazed and delighted, but the cost was astronomical!!

The other way round - it originated from Australia and the New Zealanders added Kiwi Fruit and claimed it as THEIR own - LOL!

Actually the truth is that both countries contributed to it as the recipe was perfected - this is the best article to describe it :

That is a problem, Rita. I sincerely hope there is a solution. A dog? A scarecrow? A bit of Harry Potter magic... or not. ;-P

The plovers decided to next on the edge of the local hospital's helipad. Put it this way, it wasn't the plovers who moved. Even lawnmowers are no deterrent to these plucky birds.

message 22094: by Vicki (new)

Vicki Tyley (vickityley) | 1732 comments I had to laugh when I read the last sentence here:

"If people simply cannot learn to be plover-wise for a few months then you could consider calling a wildlife evacuator to see if they can come and help move the birds – this will cost and should be a last resort. By doing this you risk another pair of birds moving into the empty territory and it starting all over again and the possible death of the original pair. Naming the birds often helps people to become attached to them and treat them with more understanding and respect."

Vicki Tyley (vickityley) | 1732 comments How long is the grass where the plovers are nesting, Rita?
