B the BookAddict (bthebookaddict) Yesterday, the ABC screened an interview by Michael Parkinson with Michael Morpurgo, the author of War Horse and lots of other great books.

I didn't know much about the author but he was a fantastic interviewee; how lucky were the kids who were taught by him. I haven't read the book or seen the movie because I'm afraid it will make me cry. But I do feel confident to recommend to my sister that my 11yr old niece might like to read some of his novels.

Have read the book and we did it with some kids at school, I loved it and they loved it too. Yes both the book and the movie will make you cry. I did.

Duly posted a couple of very bad pics taken with phone :)

The wedding went off without a hitch - a good time had by all - there were a few children and they were ALL beautifully behaved - Miss Lily helped herself to a cup cake and the display tumbled down a bit on one side - but we soon fixed it and none fell on the ground.

Neko I'm trying to find a book where I don't know the books name and I barely know the cover...Except a woman with lipstick on it..This isn't going so well....hmm..I wonder why!? Lol

@Sally - Oops to the cupcakes..lol

Marianne (cloggiedownunder) | 9985 comments I had a little get together with a book-loving friend and replenished her travelling library:
This is a lady whom I met when we still had a Lifeline Bookshop at Unanderra and she used to volunteer on the day I visit Mum, so we always chatted books.
I get to chat about all the books I have loved and pass them on to read to someone who will appreciate them too: she gets to borrow a bunch of books that I recommend. Win-win!

That's great that you had a lovely day Sally. Sounds like cupcake disaster was avoided and Miss Lily enjoyed herself too! Once all the visitors have gone home and the excitement has settled down you'll deserve to put your feet up for some quiet time with a good book :)

Yep, I think we all had a similar reaction to the ending of that one. I kept flicking through the last few pages of the book thinking WHAT!?!?!! ther has to be more. At least you dont have to wait until the next one comes out Ashleigh, I think there was something like 5 years between the publishing of book 7 & 8. A long time to find oput what happens :)

Exactly Zoey. I had to wait all that time too. I thought she had really lost it in book 7 because she waffled on for hundreds of pages and then just stopped! Book 8 redeemed her though in spades:)

Congrats Kristen. Drive safely and keep alert. There are some strange decisions made by people on the roads. Had an accident happen two cars in front of us yesterday because the person wasn't paying attention but assumed what was going on. Sorry, must be the mother into us all coming out with the cautions. Marianne (cloggiedownunder) | 9985 comments I have a little spreadsheet that I print every time. It's just deciding which clothes etc. I always need more shoes than DH. But at least this time I don't need bike gear, so no heavy boots, jacket, leather pants, helmet etc. (more room for the odd book on the way home...)
And Business Class so a generous luggage allowance.
Dale, we're off to UK, a friend's place then train to London, then train to Paris, train to Milan, then Vincent Rally at Lake Garda (not Giardia, as I keep saying, LOL!!)
I am still coughing but definitely not as bad as last Weds.

Oooooh Marianne - I am so excited for you :) Sounds like a wonderful trip. If you're packing then your departure must be imminent! Wishing you a safe trip and stress free holiday.

message 22035: by Marianne (new)

Marianne (cloggiedownunder) | 9985 comments Tuesday, early. We were going to leave at 7am but then DH said, let's go a bit early and enjoy the business class lounge for a while....
I have made good progress with the packing, but now I am at the stage where (not having tried to fit any of it in the suitcase yet) I am starting to add an extra one of these and maybe another one of those, so I thought it was time to "step away from the packing" before anyone gets hurt, and do some ironing. I particularly dislike ironing, AND I have run out of 'Allo 'Allo DVDs to watch while doing it (the war finally ended), but there's still tomorrow after I see the ophthalmologist, and Friday and Saturday and Sunday.....

Yea we do that :)

Our trip to Europe is in 31 weeks and 2 days ( Counting? Who me? Never!) I have been buying lightweight winter clothes now in the end of season sales - because I suspect that buying warm weather clothes in March won't be easy! I do like your idea of a spreadsheet though!

And I went to J&B Hi Fi and got a little connector that joins my tablet to my camera or a thumb drive. So I will be able to put some photos on Photobucket while we are away and share them with y'all!
