Alas it is Canada Day - Happy Birthday Canada / Bonne Fete Du Canada you don't look a day over one hundred :P

Time to drink some maple syrup out of the bottle, and irritate our neighbours to the south with our celebrations [we don't do that [yes we do]].

I joke, I joke although probably some Canadian somewhere has done it lol. It would be too sweet. However, in the winter as kids we used to take clean snow poor maple syrup in it and it would freeze as maple Candy :D

That happened to me once ages ago Jools, and I panicked! I got onto the Amazon website and they (in the FAQs section) told me to do that complete power off and reboot thingy...which also terrified me! But it worked!

But what mine does in mid sentence is comes up with a box saying "this title is not suitable for this device" or words to that effect (with the NetGalley ones usually) - I just go back to Home, then into the book again, and all is well. That's happened quite a few times!

But your Netgalley books are still on your bookshelf in NetGalley, so you could download those to the new one.

In the beginning I nominated to have my books download to both devices...I think they allow two on the same address...and I think you can do that through your settings. Same with Amazon books.

Hmm, I don't know about that, but I have gone back a couple of times to retrieve an older book that was accidently deleted and had no trouble. I have also mistakenly added books twice because I couldn't find it!

Try it and see, no harm done.

Anna Faversham (annafaversham) | 290 comments It's about 33c degrees here today (that's England) and I've been worrying in case my Kindle collapses in the heat. Then I realized you guys think 33 is pretty normal for Oz.

It's reassuring to know that if all the books I've yet to read disappear, they can usually be retrieved

That's true of the books you get from Amazon too. Having too many books on your kindle is supposed to slow it down. I think its more to do with that, than it getting old.
There's no need to keep them all on your kindle, since you can get them from Amazon any time you need them and you only have to pay for it the once.
You only really need to keep the book on your kindle that you're reading right now.
But I always like to have a few old favourites that I refer to often and a few from my TBR ready and waiting. But once I finish a book, I get rid of it immediately from the device, knowing I can get it back anytime.

Deleting them from the kindle does not delete them from your Amazon cloud.

message 21148: by Tui (last edited Jul 01, 2015 01:04PM) (new)

Tui Allen (tuibird) | 143 comments Here's a rant against myself. I get so grumpy because even after 4½ decades of typing on keyboards I still cannot type the word "from" without getting the o and the r back to front. I must have to edit that word after typing it about 80% of the times I type it.
I've even sometimes punished myself by making myself sit in the corner with a dunce's hat on, typing if out 100 times until I learn , but nothing works.

Sigh. from! from! from! from! from! from! from! etc

B the BookAddict (bthebookaddict) @Brenda I hadn't seen silverfish for years either so imagine my surprise and horror. They like bathrooms, cupboards, dry foodstuffs, linen, books ugh! BTW, next time I see some I'll bottle them and send them up to you:)

@Faye Thanks, they do mention lavender oil as an aid to getting rid of these pests.

My big fear is my books and I have over $7000 of patchwork fabric! Even though I've only seen one silverfish so far, I'm getting the professional pest control in.

On the other hand, imagine the sticky mess you'd have once it started melting! :)
