Marianne (cloggiedownunder) | 9987 comments We have set a date for the NSW Meet and Chat get-together: Saturday 31st October, about 11am. Venue to be decided when we get an idea of numbers, but in the city.

Please note that all are welcome: you don't have to have books to swap. If you just want to come and meet some like-minded book lovers, feel free to come. You will get to meet our "Reviewer Extraordinaire", moderator Brenda, and the book whisperer will be there with a backpack full of swap books.

But we will need an idea of numbers so we can choose a venue. And seeing as it's still FOUR MONTHS away, you can put it in your diary now and try to keep the date free. If you can indicate whether you are interested and available on this thread https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/... that would be good. If you DO have books to swap, you can list them there too.

Join us for the fun!

I'll post some books later to the date as I don't have much at the moment that anyone would want.

Marianne (cloggiedownunder) | 9987 comments a few weeks ago, the book whisperer was at Vinnies where they had the 4th book of the Clifton Chronicles by Jeffrey Archer, Be Careful What You Wish For in HB for $4. I thought I'd already bought this for Mum, but wasn't sure so rang my sister who reads them after Mum. Read the blurb to me, she says. Yes, we've had that one. OK good.

Last Sunday, at Mum's, and she's reading the 5th book of the series Mightier than the Sword, but swears she hasn't read the 4th book when we read her the blurb. Go buy it at Vinnies, I'm instructed. Like a good obedient daughter, I buy it on Tuesday and drop it in.

Today, she says, good, I've read that, it can go on the shelf. Where I find, yep, another HB copy of Be Careful What You Wish For that I bought at Salvos for $4. LOL!!!
Anyway, that's one for the swap meet, if anyone wants it....

Hope your sister enjoys her time away!

I'm going skiing in about 4 days, so am looking forward to that - here's hoping I'm not as uncoordinated as the last time I went skiing quite a few years ago - is it like riding a bike??

And I think Leonie was going skiing sometime around this time as well - I haven't seen her on GR for a little while, I don't think - and not sure if she'll see this, but if you do, Leonie - hope you have a great time skiing as well! Hope all those exercises paid off in the end (for me as well as you!).

Tui Allen (tuibird) | 143 comments I just booked a house out at Raglan for the middle weekend of August. It's a beautiful tranquil house on the water's edge of the harbour. We, a group of six authors who have been critiquing one another's work for many years now, are spending three days out there to work together again. An intensive retreat. It co-incides with the Readers and Writer's festival in Raglan so we'll be working during the day and attending relevant events in the evenings as well. Can't wait.
But it means a lot of writing must be done in preparation so there's something for them to critique!

Liam || Books 'n Beards (madbird) On desk bopping to Grease. Whoever put this playlist together for the player has taste.

Little annoyed though - two part time jobs came up here, myself and another casual employee were keeping an eye out for them to come up for applications - lo and behold it came up for one whole day and then applications were closed :|

Little bit more suspicious is that here today I was hearing them chattering about it, two ladies on short-term contracts who were already working here seem to have gotten the jobs...

And since this library has gotten in trouble in the past for giving jobs to people... not happy.

Sort of - I went skiing after a 30 year break a few years back - started on the nursery slopes and eventually got onto the easy ones with only a fractured thumb ( done in car park on way back to hotel)
