Julie, thanks for asking, he's all blocked up, still has a bit of a temp, but not too bad. He's been quite good with sickness, but looks like he's got something going on. But not too miserable thankfully.

Big **Hugs** from his Mum's book friends :D

What channel was the add on RitaSkeeter? I loved the book The Secret River by Kate Grenville and saw the theatre adaptation in Sydney awhile back which was absolutely brilliant!!
Would love to watch a mini series as long as it lives up to the story. Be interested to know who plays the starring roles.

Thanks Rita, interesting lineup. I will definately keep an eye out for that. It just says 2015 release but no actual dates yet.

Wow that soon, I'm surprised there hasn't been more fanfare about it...I hope it lives up to its namesake ;)

No worries I will keep an eye out for it, thanks for the headsup ;)

The irony, of course, is that if it isn't just me, no one might see this post for a while anyway if there is no notification that there is a new post!!

That is terrible Carolyn. What is wrong with some people? Sometimes it's not young kids either it's guys in their twenties.

That is awful, Carolyn. Is it insured? Although sometimes the excess can cost as much as repairing the damage...

Yes - I saw that friends had posted things in threads that I knew I was meant to get notified of. I switched this thread to individual email notification to see if that was working, but it isn't either. I think I'll go and post in the GR feedback group - I can't see any comments about it at the moment, which is why I was wondering if it was just me! Thanks, RitaSkeeter!

Yes, it is insured. We'll just have to find out how much it will cost to re spray the car and whether it's worth claiming. The side panels aren't affected, just the bonnet, roof and boot so maybe they won't need to do the whole car. It's just the senslessness of causing this sort of damage that annoys me!

My last notification was over 12h ago and there have been new posts since then so it does look like a general problem.

I know - and how can anybody find doing something like that fun??

what a bummer! Hope your excess isn't too excessive...
So I have just seen that Kate Morton is coming out with a new book in October - I am very excited, I love her books.

I haven't got any for hours Kathryn - this whole thread has 13 new and I haven't received notification for any of them. I'm going to go to the feedback group shortly:)

Oh no!! What's that about? Have you told the police? Maybe someone targeting the wrong people...be careful :[

Ah well - it's an easy thing to do - I get to sit in a chair and listen to my audiobook for at least 30 minutes. What's not to like about it?!

I just got to here by the circuitous route on the off chance of finding posts and what do you know! I wonder what's going on? Sorry if I've missed anything.

Hadn't thought about it that way Julie! I assumed it was just random but odd it was just our car, especially since the acid looks like it was thrown on in three goes. The car was parked across the road from our house as the people over there park at the back of their house. We hadn't planned on reporting it to the police but we probably should let the folks across the road know.

I would think about reporting it, it doesn't seem random does it...when its only one car? Would certainly tell the people that live there.
Pssst, you didn't pinch their parking spot did you? ;) not funny, I hope you can get it fixed up no problem.

Good for you Kathryn.

Hope Indy is okay now,Suzanne.

That's awful. Hope they find the culprit. And that the excess is not too much.

Wow thats great of you Kath. I am a blood donor but stopped for some time to give blood. I need to do start doing it again.

Good job Kathryn! I used to be good with that but got into a pregnancy and breastfeeding cycle and couldn't continue.. You've given me a reminder now though! I've got a rare blood type so I just get onto it.

That is terrible - I just don't get the 'fun' value in that - hope it get fixed quickly, well and cheaply

I have worked in insurance (albeit in Canada) and often for something like this the insurance company will want a police report. I assume it will work the same in every country so I would definitely report it ASAP

We've just had the police round to look at the car. As Matthew said you have to before you can claim on the insurance even though there's nothing the police can do. They don't think it's random as the culprit made sure to do max damage with several lots of acid. Apparently hubby had an altercation last week with a hoon in a hotted up Ford speeding doing about 90 down our suburban street full of kids playing so could be related. At least it was just the car that was damaged.
