Yes that's a shame Ryan:( But no, the winter would be too cold for us:)

Random thought: It seems so strange to us over here that christmas for you guys is in the middle of summer.

message 19569: by Marianne (new)

Marianne (cloggiedownunder) | 9989 comments It seems I broke our slow cooker ceramic bowl when I was making the Pea with Ham soup :(( by adding the stock when it was still too cold from the fridge. I thought I heard a crack, but nothing happened, the soup was OK so......
Hubby used it yesterday to make a beef stew and now the crack in the bottom is stained darker and can be seen from underneath as well.
Cost us $90 in 2008. We could buy another bowl, $85, LOL.
So I'm thinking a visit to KMart.....will check out Choice first as they did a survey in 2014.
Hubby was NOT PLEASED!! but at least I was honest and owned up. Could have pleaded ignorance: "who me?"

What a bummer, but you have had a good run out of it! Tell hubby these things don't last forever anyway...and the newer ones are a lot better and cheaper by comparison ;) We have gone through three rice cookers in that time! :)

Liam || Books 'n Beards (madbird) I've shouted mum her facial for mother's day - had I known how expensive it was before I promised it I might have just gotten her a card.

message 19578: by Marianne (new)

Marianne (cloggiedownunder) | 9989 comments LOL Liam, that's not the right spirit!!! Unless you were going to put $$$ in the card!
Still, she will enjoy that, and look lovingly upon you for it.

same here. My mother-in-law insisted she had to do the full hot thing for my father-in-law, else he felt he hadn't had a real Christmas Dinner, but when she was gone he wasn't the least bit fussed about it, was happy with prawns & salad, so maybe she just liked the fuss and attention herself.

Marianne (cloggiedownunder) | 9989 comments It's that time of year when I have to take my quilt out onto the verandah and shake it down (or up?) so the down/feathers are spread throughout and keeping me warm instead of down the bottom.

Expensive soup. :)

These days it's usually cheaper to buy replacements than repair electrical goods and sometimes even white goods (we spent over $600 on a dishwasher repair -- never again).

It's definitely that time of year Marianne! I spent yesterday washing all my woollens and drying them in the sun. They get a slightly musty smell from sitting in the wardrobe all summer but now they're all fresh and fluffy!
