We had some Melbourne weather here in Sydney for your stay. So you wouldn't get homesick ;)

Hope you had a good time and your bag isn't too heavy with all the books you bought:)

Travel safe and enjoy your reading:) Hope you had a lovely holiday in Sydney!

This is the one I recognise from everyone's updates from here.

Yes the weather was a bit of a shocker for you. I missed your update, where were you staying?

I seem to be up even earlier than I intended this morning. My bedroom clock is apparently creeping ahead each day (and it's electric, so not sure why this is happening) and I didn't realise it had crept 20 mins since the last time I set it. So here I am posting before even Bette!!

We have one that does that too Marianne. We thought it was the clock and replaced it. But the next clock does the same. Not sure how but it must be something to do with that power point as it doesn't happen anywhere else in the house. We just learn to keep adjusting the clock. Otherwise it gets faster and faster.

I stayed at a variety of places. Started off at Springwood, then at Del Rio Resort in Wiseman's Ferry and finally in Ingleburn. I had a great time :) Even faced my fears and went on a ferry ride yesterday afternoon to Manly and back.

Hope you had a good time and your bag ..."
Hahahaha yes suitcase was considerably heavier coming back
Hi Suzanne
Both of my girls were reading the Louise Rennison books in the Georgia Nicolson series.
They were also reading the Anne Brasheres Sisterhood books.
The keen reader was also working her way through the first 5 Harry Potter books and the Princess Diaries by Meg Cabot
Other authors she loved were:
Ursula Dubosarsky
Judy Blume
Carolyn Mackler
Kate DiCamillo
Alyssa Brugman
Jacqeline Wilson
Let me know when she starts asking to read John Green, then you know she is growing up. :)

I just got back from seeing The One Hundred Year Old Man at the cinema. It was SO good. Really funny- laugh aloud funny - the audience certainly all had a good time. It was done really well - based on the book, some changes and exclusions but staying true to the overall import of the story. Loved it and recommend it to everyone who has a sense of humour:)

What John Green novel has she read?
Is it the 11 year old?
Have you read any?

That'd be great Ashleigh:)

That's wonderful!

Very clever of you Ashleigh. I've been following the competition but I don't have the savvy to create a meme. Some of them are very good and creative

Wow, you must be a creative lady :)

They've both read The Fault in Our Stars, they are 11 and 13, and the 13yo is in the middle of Paper Towns. Prior to this (more than 12 mths ago it was The Babysitters Club so I didn't have to worry about content. All their school friends are reading them apparantly. Then I bought some Jaclyn Moriartybooks from their library so I guess the step up is quite a broad one. Their friends even read Jodie Picoult. I've only read The fault in our stars and wasn't bowled over..

Ooh, very exciting!

Sounds great Phrynne! I was worried it would come out a bit farsical if not done well but it sounds like they avoided that.
Just thought I'd let everyone know that we're going on holidays (again!) on Friday:) Down the south coast this time - a week at a little place near Bateman's Bay then 3 days in Nowra:) We'll be home on the 1st September. I'll still be online (try to keep me away;)) but not as much, especially during the day.

Hope you have a lovely holiday, Brenda. And I'm sure the other mods will keep us all in line not that we plan on misbehaving ;)

Anyone who loved the book should also love the film. It has retained the sense of humour of the book and the actor who plays the 100 year old man is delightful. Of course it has differences from the book because it had to leave things out but the essence is the same.

Have a wonderful, and safe, time away, Brenda! You'll be back just in time to get started on the Spring challenge with a bang

Funny how all the girls are reading TFIOS. I read it and thought it was quite good, but not John Green's best work. Paper Towns was much better and the road trip was hilarious. I believe the movie is in production.
I thought Looking for Alaska Looking for Alaska was fantastic, but I suggest you read it before giving it to your 13 year old.
Also try Jay Asher's Thirteen Reasons Why. Thirteen Reasons Why
