But congratulations:) That's awesome!

I fear this well may be the truth, but I'll have fun pushing my boundaries ;)

Liam || Books 'n Beards (madbird) It's insane how small the library sector is. As soon as I said I worked at Onka she knew who my boss was and like half the people I work with :P

Good afternoon, Birdies, and apologies for going AWOL. It's been one of those weeks where I've barely had a minute to myself. Not helped when my poor old laptop packed the sads. I now have a new one, but it's taken me forever to get everything transferred, reinstalled and upgraded to Windows 8.1. And I still haven't finished, but at least I'm online again. Anyway, I just wanted to pop in and say hello to everyone. Enjoy the rest of your weekend. :)

I thought you'd been very quiet this week Vicki.
Don't you just hate having to set up a new computer and upgrade all your software and then find other things don't work with the new software. Grrr!
Hope you've got someone computer savvy helping out!

Hi Carolyn. Alas, I'm the "someone computer savvy" around here. Anyone has a problem, I'm usually the first port of call. I used PCmover, which I highly recommend to anyone changing computers, but because I have so much installed (and some of it quite old and therefore not compatible), it still took forever.

You poor thing! You have my sympathy - hope it's all fixed soon. At least you won't have to go through this again for a few years :)

Vicki Tyley (vickityley) | 1732 comments Thanks, Carolyn. If Microsoft would just stop completely redesigning their operating systems so often, it wouldn't be such a problem. :)

Sharon Robards (sharonrobards) | 944 comments Vicki, I use to be a programmer and get terribly annoyed that things are updated but not all the past things we use are taken into account. I turned on my computer this morning and no power, thankfully, it was because my daughter had knocked the cable. Each time I've had to upgrade my computer it is a nightmare, so I hear you...

That was a great find Faye

message 13371: by Vicki (new)

Vicki Tyley (vickityley) | 1732 comments Sharon, you'll definitely understand.

Thank goodness your lack of power was simply down to a dislodged cable. There are plenty of funny IT support anecdotes around that involve fixing the problem by plugging the power in. :)

Went to see the film Lucy this evening. It was really good - if you like sci fi that is:) I read somewhere it was loosely based on the book Flowers for Algernon and I guess it was but only the basic premise.
One of the trailers was for Fifty Shades of Grey. Oh dear. It looked really bad. There were some teenage girls behind us who got quite excited though:)

Vicki, commiserations on your laptop's demise. Same thing happened to me last June, ugh. I hated Windows 8, correction: I loathed it so I had Windows 7 re-installed on my new laptop. I did NOT have the sharpest pencil in the box doing the changeover for me and lost certain data:(

Oh, by the way, GOOD MORNING, EB's (Liam's post made me do that:P)

Marianne (cloggiedownunder) | 9990 comments Morning, Early Birds! Pouring with rain outside, masses of green on the weather radar, no walkies outside for this girl today..... also Mum's wash will have to hang in the garage. I hope the garden appreciates it!

message 13381: by Carolyn (new)

Carolyn | 9871 comments No walkies for me either Marianne. Pouring down here in Sydney too. We do need it and I hope it's getting inland to the farmers.

My son is supposed to have his U21 soccer grand final today - first ever in 15y of playing - but I rather think it will be cancelled. He even went to a party last night and didn't drink and was tucked up in bed by 2am so he will be disappointed :(
