I found the answer. I will be back with instructions (assuming I can find it again). :)
Okay here is the solution.
On the Discussion board there are three options on the right hand side. all|new|unread
Click on unread, slide all the way to the bottom, there is an option to mark all as read. Of course you would never want to do that in our group. Our conversations are so scintillating.

Thank you! I am happy for new conversations, but stuff from a year ago just taunts me while it is sitting there unread!
I've been playing around with this. When you open the Goodreads site go to the homepage. On the right hand side of the screen is "My profile" which lists profile, groups, comments, quotes etc etc. Towards the bottom is "Notifications" and there may be a number after this. This tells you how many new posts have been made (I think). You can click on this and it will list who has posted a new comment on the threads you are following. I think this is right - I just mucked around a bit with it this morning.

I stopped my email notifications when they introduced this Notifications function on the home page. It's great not to have to go though so many emails anymore.:)
I've emails sent to me in one HUUUUUGGGEE lot...Otherwise my email account gets spammed XD However, for some stuff I have it so I get emails for each topic. Works out well :D
Any way to add a book for a second time having it already on the read bookshelf? (re-reading a book and making it count as 2 different reads?..if u get that :p) I thought about just using a diff edition of the book but that seemed a bit tacky..
Yep there is click on my books, at the top there is an option called shelf settings:custom click on this. towards the end there is an option called read count you can change the number to be the number of times you have read a book.
To add a book a second time simple add it a second time. (I go through my list occasionally and find books more than once so i delete the one I don't want.

It's all part of the service Mandy. :)

Khenan wrote: "never heard of em, i searched for a walrus pic and i like detective novels..sorta looked like a detective walrus so yeh ;)"Ah, okay. They are a clothing/art company. Been following them for ages. And yeah, it does look like a detective walrus or one from the Mob..lol Usually UP have the walrus without the hat on as their logo but he seems to get dressed from time to time.
Carmel wrote: "Laura, really interesting site!! I love the star sign shirts, mine is Libra!!"Oooo, those T-Shirt designs are by one of my favorite artist called Jeremy Fish. His artwork is truely amazing. Libra design is very cool, I'm next one along- Scorpio.
The site is currently having a 50% sale off EVERYTHING in their online store...Pitty shipping is sooo much! It was going to cost me $99US to ship around 5 items to me..No thanks :/
You could have at least provided a link. Now I have to google it.
I love Khenans walrus it's one of my favourite avatars, it is good to know where it comes from.

A new little trick I found out from some friends.
It's < spoiler >text< / spoiler > without the spaces.
Holy (view spoiler).
Yay it actualy worked. I had tried it earlier in the day and it failed. Useful if you want to hide spoilers.

My apologies Brenda. You don't click on tools. There is a list of items under the heading tools. It's the 5th item down.

If you have lost a thread in the group. Try using the search function. It is located above the list of moderators. I find it very useful.
Hi guys
I have a quick question and sorry if it is a stupid one!
When I post something on a discussion thread is there a quick way to find my posts? For example I wanted to get to my list that I posted for the Summer reading challenge but there is like 10 pages of posts and I dont remember which page I was on.
Thanks!!

Thanks Carmel! I am glad I asked because that is heaps quicker than going into each page of a discussion and doing Ctrl + F to search for my name haha

Another question - so I have found my comment re the Summer Reading Challenge and now I would like to update it - there is no reply button. Should I go onto the discussion and search for date of my comment or is there a quicker way? Thanks for your help - I dont get on here as much as I would like so it is taking me a while to figure it out! :)

Hmm...I'm a little confused as to what you mean. What I'd do is..Do a ctrl+f to do a find then type in Christine in the find box (this is in FF or IE) until your name pops up on the page with the post you want. And just sift through the pages until you find it. It's how I usually search for things. But what Carmel mentions might work out better or moreso what you are after.
Another thing is if you want to update your post just click on the 'edit' button which can be found at the bottom of that post..You'll see: reply | edit | delete | flag *
Just click on the edit button. This will open up the post and you can edit it. Sometimes when you press the edit button your post will scroll off your screen so just do scroll until you see the open edit box with all the text in it.
If I've made things confusing I can show through screenshots.
Christine wrote: "that is heaps quicker than going into each page of a discussion and doing Ctrl + F to search for my name ..."Ha! I never knew you could do that. Ya learn something new everyday. ;o)
Ooh! I just discovered that if you click on the little arrow next to your name up in the top right hand corner. Drop down the little box and you will see "comments". Click on that and it takes you to a page which lists all the comments you've made. Cool huh?Did you all know this? Am I not keeping up? I was so excited when I found it just now. LOL!
Dot wrote: "Ooh! I just discovered that if you click on the little arrow next to your name up in the top right hand corner. Drop down the little box and you will see "comments". Click on that and it takes you ..."O.o? What little arrow?
I do it a bit differently..
I've always clicked on peoples names (example message 223: by Brenda) which takes me to that users posts/comment for the group :)
Handy tool when you might of forgotten which topics you've replied too.
I've done that in the past as well Laura but when I did it yesterday for my own postings, there were none listed on my page. "???" So then I just starting looking around and noticed the "comments" in the drop-down menu. I was pretty excited to find that. LOL! Yeah, I'm easy pleased.
