Where in the World are you from?
Can you really put up lady bird houses? I live in Dorset, and I havent seen many at all for years. Not a lot of sparrows either, actually. I lived in Port Talbot a few years ago, and the roofs would be covered by sparrows! Only get a handful where I live now.
I live in Dorset and our local garden centre does them. My garden has been full of sparrows until recently and then they all disapeared!
I get sparrows in my garden along with blue Tits and I have a Robin who comes every year but I also get a sparrow hawk who regularly comes and lands on my hedge we've found lots of feathers in our hedge too
Angela - next time you are driving through Northumberland you need to get out of that car and onto one of the fantastic sandy beaches that we have hidden away! I also live in Northumberland, though my family are originally from Scotland. I was brought up in Durham, have lived in Edinburgh as a student, then Newcastle. In fact the only time I've lived away from the north was on a bus to Kathmandu for a few months in 1976!
I agree ladybirds are much nicer. I have a ladybird house but they have never taken up residence, nor have any birds. Although I guess the cats put them off! Starfish, I am jealous. When we studied Aztecs and Mayans at uni, we were all impressed that a classmate's parents lived there.
Hi I am from Coventry originally, then West London, now retired to Chesterfield in the Peak District.
I live in Lancashire, in a small village near Blackpool, but I am originally from San Francisco, California.
That's quite a change Calamitymane.....most people would dream of doing it the other way round lol
been away a while but just to repeat previous postFrom London but now living in Gloucester via Yorkshire, Germany, Yorkshire again, the Oman, Yorkshire again, Derry, Belize, Dorset, Neath, Hampshire, Sydney, Dawlish and Teignmouth.
I've lived in North London for 45 years, but was born in Liverpool, and I have lived in many places. I'm now thinking of moving again. London isn't really a place with an identity any more. It's hard to feel that you belong.
I live in Nuneaton a small town near Coventry. :)

Paul wrote: "I'm originally from the Midlands but I've lived in the Cardiff area for the last couple of decades."Hi Paul - I'm just round the corner in Barry.
Your novels sound interesting - more sci-fi for my to read list
Angela wrote: "Born in Leicestershire - still live in Leicestershire!"I was born in Shepshed - but live in Dorset now, where in Leicestershire are you from?
Said this B4, but for newcomers I am a Liverpudlian - first 18 years there and also the last 18....so that rather symmetrically leaves 18 years in between spent mostly in Leicester - 7 years - and then the rest in that there London.
Ian, that does work out nicely. I was born in Wales, lived there for 20 years and now live in Manchester. Although I'm moving to Stockport tomorrow.
Saw something on the news about the weather in Scotland - very bad. Makes our few inches of snow in Luton look like nothing at all.
Donna wrote: "I am from Scotland very cold Scotland at the moment. :("In all fairness, Donna, every time I have ever been there it's been 'very cold Scotland.' :)
I'm in sunny Didsbury, Manchester which is not far from where I grew up in Stockport, although I did enjoy 3 years in Cardiff in the 80's and a year in Chester. I'm also lucky enough in my working life to travel extensively and quite exotically as far as Oldham.
I'm from freezing Nuneaton in Warwickshire. :)
We often head to WSM for a walk (and ice cream!) My husband's from the West Midlands so feels it's his home from home!
All these people moving around the country. I've lived in Barry all my life, and if I crane my neck out the window I can see the house my Great, great Grandparents owned!!Not well traveled us Wood's clearly :)
Rhian wrote: "hi everyone i'm from the south wales valleys"I've spent some time in Wales, so I'm guessing it's a wee bit chilly down in them valleys! :-)
Rhian wrote: "yes david absolutly freezing today, a nice hot radox bath with my book will sort me out tho :-)"Enjoy! Best make sure it's a good book though :-)
Rhian wrote: "hmmm its not great but i'm not far from the end so i'll stick with it"Ha! I know that feeling. I hate when I've lost interest in a book, but I'm so far through it I feel obliged to plod on through :-(

I had to kidnap some from elsewhere. At least there are a few in there ready for the spring!!!!
