Strey, Glad you caught the sunshine - makes all the difference to the camping experience if not putting your tent up in gales and torrential rain.
zzzzz...wah?? See you lot are at it again... just passing through (again...I still haven't emigrated Ian!!)Got a mountain of reviews to do, but a REALLY enjoying Patrick O' Brian at the mo' so maybe I'll be press ganged.
High Wycombe wasn't so much built as 'evolved'...and it's still getting there. Anyway, surely the gentleman meant BERKshire...the Royal County of course...who mentioned Slough??!! Tee Hee.
I think we hold very refined conversations! Talking of which, my cat opened the cat-food cupboard door whilst I was at work and helped himself and siblings to 3 Sheba foil cat foods. Bit through the foil and ate the lot! Foil everywhere. He's so pleased. Was thinking of offering him to Sheba for ads and getting free food!!
...just checking...did one of those 'marble sized hailstones' you mentioed hit you on the head by any chance...concussive hallucination??!!...and if they ate that lot I think it may be more than 'foil' everywhere in due course! Ho Ho!
...got to go my eight year old lad has just brushed his teeth & got himself ready for bed without being asked or chivvied up...oooh! sorry I just slipped into a parallel universe...as if that would ever happen!!!
Lynne, - the penny has dropped. I've always wondered why you talked about Dorset. I thought you lived in the big Gillingham in Kent!!
Ian wrote: "Lynne, - the penny has dropped. I've always wondered why you talked about Dorset. We are near Shaftesbury of the old Hovis add fame (Gold Hill).
Me? I'm a pussycat! Talking of which I hope yours are okay after their little indulgence....trying hard to resist calling you Mrs Slocombe... 0;)

...Ooh! Titter ye not!I hope we're all having glorious sunshine wherever we are; though I fully expect H to report rain in Manc (or risk the wrath of local Trading Standards)!

A friend who lives in Zeals instructed me in the correct pronunciation of this a few years ago!!

We're okay in Mancland, We have had glorious hot sunshine, but torrential rain at 9.20am. My class stopped in their tracks to comment on Juniors trip - 'They'll have to come back now'. Bless their ignorance.
Years 3/4 and 4/5had gone to Gullivers World, year 6 went to some adventure/activity park in Buxton - or that way. Mine just didn't see how they could do it in the rain. Year 3/4 were just getting on the coach too. We're going to Blackpool zoo Tuesday - beware Blackpool.
The year 1 teacher is already planning to miss the small monkey 'open' enclosure as she feels the children will acquire pets! A child in year 3 ran away, hid and caused 20minute panic. Hence the million risk assessments we have to fill, exciting stuff.
I have one of those yr 3 monkeys myself and also work in the Public Sector...so i know the feeling on both counts!!!
Hi,hope some of you can get to Winchester Uni. either friday or saturday, 1st and 2nd july. You'll find myself and Sue Rule on the Authors Online stand, we'll be joined by David Elliot and Carrie King for the friday evening seminar on indie publishing. That means 4 GR authors together, gotta be worth the trip!!
All the best Paul Rix [oldgeezer]
Hello, all. I'm from London, but inexplicably (well, not really) find myself living in the US - Cincinnati, Ohio, to be exact. Glad to find a UK group on here!
I'm from Cardiff - happily within driving distance of Hay-on-Wye (although my credit card doesn't agree!!)
Hi Michael and Michelle and I've already said hello elsewhere to the mysteriously named Pocket.......sounds like you could be a secret love child of Frank Zappa
Ian wrote: "Hi Michael and Michelle and I've already said hello elsewhere to the mysteriously named Pocket.......sounds like you could be a secret love child of Frank Zappa"Ian your idea sounds so much better than the truth - we'll go with that I think.
My names really Dave - but due to my lack of height (5'2") compared to my twin (5'7") Pocket has kind of stuck as a nickname and internet moniker - I'm small enough to fit in your pocket you see :)
Ok Dave, as you clearly wish to be a FZ love child, I shall henceforth call you Moon Unit.....or Dave if I forget - lol

Hi Michelle & Michael...Bonjour both at once?! and Pocket Dave...every home should have one! :)During school I was pretty much the shortest kid everywhere...and I seemed to end up with extra tall friends!! Ended up 5'8" - but still seem to have a lot of very tall friends...Hmmm!
Welcome to the Madhouse one & all.
...and spent a week in H-O-W a couple of years ago. Phew! Being a bit OCD had to visit ALL the bookshops & sales...much to Mrs S's concern!!Thoroughly enjoyed it. Got some some gems & an early edition of Macgregor's "A Thousand Miles in a Rob Roy Canoe". It possibly belonged to Warington Baden Powell, father of Sea Scouting & canoeing hero (& Robert B-P's brother). They holidayed in the area I believe. For that alone I love Hay!!
