Judy Pierce | 59 comments Welcome, Pat. Welcome to the "I don't like marketing" crowd. Ozette's Destiny was released the end of Feb. by Pants on Fire Press, and I hate this part of the process. I'd rather be writing!

By the way, the contest to win an Ozette's Destiny T-shirt ends Friday. Please enter to win

Welcome to the group,Pat! Thanks for the kind comments too. It is a really supportive group. I created this group with the intention that authors help one another whether it be for marketing, how to, or just to meet other authors in the same line of work. I cannot believe how much it's grown...over three hundred authors and growing rapidly. Welcome to the group, happy you're here!

Once you understand how twitter works, you will come up with ideas on how to use it to promote your book. The link below explains the basics really well: http://www.hashtags.org/platforms/twi...
Have fun!

Thanks for the heads-up. My middle-grade environmental mystery was just released by Tumblehome Learning, but it's a print book, and currently no give-aways.

Cathy Hamilton | 5 comments Hey Friends!
I am Cathy Hamilton and the author/illustrator/animator of The Itsy Bitsy Spider On The Farm. I hope you will find my endeavor whimsically funny and heartwarming! Along with the extreme familiarity of my own creation came the realization that I am Ms. Itsy B. Spider and would have the same attitude and reactions as she did in her various precarious adventures! Too funny!

Looking forward to learning and sharing on Goodreads!

Hi Carol and everyone. I'm glad to be here!
Yes, Deb, I think we were both in Red River Writers on FB.
How are you? I'm good myself.

Deb Hockenberry (kidztales) | 26 comments JD,
I'll bet we were. That's how I know your name! Is that group still going? I decided to drop out since I was in so many groups that really didn't focus on children's writing or book promotion.

message 437: by [deleted user] (new)

Deb,
It's still on fb but I don't know who is leading it anymore. I do know what you mean though about too many groups. I'm always looking for groups that promote.

message 439: by Deb (new)

Deb Hockenberry (kidztales) | 26 comments Hi JD,
I'm sorry that I wasn't clear in my answer before. When I dropped out, I really didn't need a group about promotion so that aspect of it didn't bother me as much as the aspect that there wasn't much for children in there. At the time, I really didn't think anybody would accept my book. But surprise! They did and now I'm promoting myself all over the place. I know at the time I was in so many groups that it was too much for me. All I was doing was hopping from group to group not getting any writing done. I think I'm technically still a member. I'll have to check it out and see if it's still there or not.

Hi Deb,
Yes, I understand. I still hop from group to group. lol
What type of children's book is it? I have a reading show on Blog Talk Radio for kids books with a nice following. The network I'm on, World of Ink Network had a large following too.
Here are the guidelines for the show if you think it's something you want to do:

Deb Hockenberry (kidztales) | 26 comments Hi JD,
Your message came through on my email but when I hit reply to this message, it wasn't there so I hope I remember everything!

I did check out Red River Writers and it's not there anymore.

That's exciting that you do the blogtalk radio show. I'll have to follow your link to check it out. I'll definitely keep you in mind after my book comes out! I too review for WOI. I try to do it every month but Virginia doesn't always have children's each month. She usually does though. Just once or twice I had to back out because of one written for adults. I only review children's books.

Deb,
Great. Yes, keep my show in mind.
I did see some of your posts on WOI.
Do you want to be recommended to authors for reviews?
I get requests all the time.

JD

Deb Hockenberry (kidztales) | 26 comments You can count on hearing from me next year when my book comes out, unless the publishing date changes! :-) You don't have to recommend me to other authors for reviews. You can if you want to, though! It's always nice to be appreciated for what you do, isn't it? I have in my profiles that I review and I get a lot of work that way, by word of mouth and from people who stop by my blog.

Gusty McCabe (authorgustymccabe) | 10 comments My name is Paul Larson and my stage/pen name is "Gusty" McCabe. I have been storyteller in Arizona for 20 years and have just published my first book. I have used an indie publisher, Trafford, and the book is out as of may 3rd. It is titled "The Most Important Critter in the Whole Wide World", it is from an old Indian tale and is done in rhyme.
I'm really just new to this and like all newcomers I have to fumble my way through everything. I have other tales to tell and will be on-line here from time to time.
Regards all,
Paul, aka Gusty

Gusty McCabe (authorgustymccabe) | 10 comments Hello. I just joined today and look forward to the insights I might gain here. My name is Paul Larson but my stage/pen name is "Gusty" McCabe. I have been a storyteller around Arizona for 20 years and have just now published my first children"s book. It is from an old Indian tale and is titled "The Most Important Critter in the Whole Wide World". It is in verse and is illustrated by a friend, Brandee Snyder. I have used an indie publisher, Trafford, and it just came out on May 3rd.
I look forward to further conversations etc.

Hi Deb,
Thanks for the welcome. I'm a stranger in these parts, particularly in the areas of web sites, platforms, discussion groups, page managers etc. I feel like Rip Van Winckle who woke up and the world had changed beyond his recollection. But I did get my book out and am looking forward to one or two reviews or comments about it.
Looking forward to your own book as well. What's it about? A novel? a young readers book? What?
