Brian Barnett (brianbarnett) Oopsie. I've been a member of this group for some time and have not yet introduced myself. So...

Hi, I'm Brian. I primarily write middle-grade stories now. If you are on Facebook and want to take part in daily discussions on my page, feel free to join (https://www.facebook.com/#!/pages/Bri...)

Someday I would like to write for small children. I have two children (a third on the way) and I read to them often. How great would it be to read them one of my books :)

Courtney Jones (courtneymjones) | 6 comments A little bit about myself!
I'm married and have an incredible 2 year old daughter. She is the reason and drive that motivated me to finally get myself out there to make my dream come true, which is to write children's books! I illustrate and write them and have 3 volumes of my series In A Room You Will Find. These books take your child on a tour of your home and show them through colorful and fun illustrations what can be found in the kitchen, living room and bedroom! I'm currently finishing the 4th volume, in a bathroom you will find!
If you would like to know more about me feel free to visit my website courtneymjones.com In the kids corner tab I have made and uploaded free printable coloring and activity sheets for the kiddos! On my website my books are listed with links to Amazon! Ebooks are available for free rental on a kindle and for sale for only 2.99. The paperback version of In A Kitchen You Will Find is available on Amazon as well for 7.97!
Thanks for reading and I hope to talk with all of you some more! Message me anytime or you can find me on Facebook!

Hi! I am Meighan and my book Long Live Earth was originally published by Scholastic in 1993. To celebrate it's 20th birthday I am publishing a new Anniversary edition under my own imprint so I can do things my way this time and do things like donate proceeds to great causes.

I am currently donating 10% of pre-order proceeds to 350.org which is working hard to solve the climate crisis. Pre-order ends Dec. 1.

I hope you will check out Long Live Earth and help spread the word!

I have just published my novel 'Finley Flood - Mirrors and Glass'.

The book is aimed at readers aged about nine and upwards, and the content is entirely appropriate for the age group. with no language or sex issues.

The main character is Finley Flood, who is funny and cool, and will appeal very much to the reader.

I would welcome anyone to download the novel for free on Smashwords, and if you could leave me a review that would help tremendously.

Wendy Unsworth (mamahathaway) | 35 comments Hello everyone, I have been around here for a little while but have just noticed I have been remiss in introducing myself! Apologies!
I am the author of three books; two for children. Kellie at Come-alive Cottage Kellie at Come-alive Cottage (Come-alive Cottage, #1) by Wendy Unsworth and Danger at Come-alive Cottage Danger at Come-alive Cottage (Come-alive Cottage 2) by Wendy Unsworth
Writing has been a lifelong interest to me and I finally published my novel in January 2012. The idea for my children's series was scribbled in an old note pad long before I even owned a computer so finally seeing the first one in print was a real thrill.
Kellie and her quirky family are books designed mainly for fun for six to seven years and up, to engender a love of words with a little magic!
Kellie at Come-alive Cottage is free for kindle http://amzn.to/1cbq7KA just for the rest of today.

Hi All,

Thanks for allowing me to join your group.

My platform topics center on Diversity and Bullying issues. I love children and believe they should love themselves and have deep-seated empowerment as they proudly self-identify.

My two children's chapter books, "No Tildes on Tuesday" and "Clique, Clique, STOP" both have a biracial protagonist telling her story of trying to fit in, and later doing something about it.

I've wanted to write books for some time, but I was sparked to get going because one person stated to me that children who are mixed WILL have psychological problems. It's funny how such a narrow-minded, negative comment got me sparked enough not to tarry any longer.

I've also written two journals, "Affirmation Daybook: Journal" and "Diversity Daybook: Journal." In addition, my daughter and I co-created a little girls diary titled, "Guess What? Dear Diary,"

My bully book, "Teacher, Teacher, Can't You See?" should be release in the next 4-5 weeks.

I can go on and on here, but if you are so inclined, and when time permits, please visit my website to learn more about me, my work, articles, blog post, videos, diversity activities, and more.

I am very glad to have found this group. I am in the process of trying to get my first manuscript completed and ready for an editor. Reading everyone's thoughts/tips and knowledge is very inspiring.

Happy writing!

message 540: by Deb (new)

Deb Hockenberry (kidztales) | 26 comments Hi Carole,
Congratulations on your manuscript! One thing I've found out (the hard way) is that after you have your first draft completed put it away for about 1 or 2 week. Then go back and re-read it. You'll be reading it with a fresh set of eyes and will see those mistakes that you missed before. Taping your story into a tape recorder is good too. You can hear your mistakes. You know, you'll be able to hear when sentences or paragraphs don't flow smoothly into one another & stuff like that. Also, while your MS is setting, do your homework on publishers and editors. A good site for this is Predators & Editors.

I.L. Williams | 7 comments Hi!

New to Goodreads and excited to find so many good groups and discussions in here. I am launching a self-published children's book by the end of this month.
It is a picture book for 3-7 year-olds about a boy who builds a robot. It is a story I made up for my 5 year-old son who is robot-mad. It is called Bing & Nero --there is a book trailer and animation at www.bingandnero.com. If anyone has any comments or suggestions, they will be greatly appreciated! Hoping to learn and discover here!
Cheers!
