Hi Joel,
I think it is okay if your book is new and you are seeking exposure. It seems no different to me than some authors who start by self publishing thier books. As in giving yourself five stars, it us a way you believe in yourself and in your work. Just an opinion: )

Krystyna Hi -- Krystyna here.
I love, love kid's books.

I am in the early years of my career in architecture. My master's research project in school was a children's library designed around narratives of children's stories.

[I am not an author but...one day I hope to complete a couple of half-written children's stories I've started.]

Raychelle Muhammad | 8 comments Greetings, All! I have written and illustrated two children's books (Little Girls Like You and Little Boys Like You) published on CreateSpace.com with four more on the way. I am experimenting with a variety of traditional and POD publishing formats. I also write family books and health and wellness books published on lulu.com. My author's website is http//:www.Raychelle-Writes.blogspot.com.

Hi Rachelle, welcome. That link you added just took me to CreateSpace, but not to your book. do you have a link to your book?

I also published three children's books with CreateSpace. So far, I like them best. I tried a POD publisher but was not happy and had to pay more too. Plus the only books they sold were to my friends, so I cancelled the contract and went with CreateSpace.

Hi Gail! So happy to see you in the group!!!!

message 80: by Gail (new)

Gail Hedrick | 120 comments Thanks,Jodi. I am still getting the hang of Goodreads-there's a lot to absorb on this site-very author/reader friendly. I know you are out in the schools some with your brood, and wondered if you've spoken with the school librarians about how they are handling/stocking e-books. No hurry on responding as I know you are back in school, too. Just curious.
Gail

HowThat's a great question, Gail. I hadn't thought about that, but I will find out. I haven't had a chance to go to the libraries, but will make it a point to. I am going out of town til Sunday, but will find something out next week. Glad to see you are enjoying Goodreads:-). Any marketing luck for you? I hope so. My school reading and signing is in late October...hoping to line more up

Edison the Firefly series (Book 1) is finally finished and will be republished soon in it's new multilingual version along with a completely new look, one that will be sure to capture your attention and perhaps "brighten" your day.

You can also go to my FB fan site too at https://www.facebook.com/authordonnaraye

Please stay tuned for the release date. A new children's series is following Edisons' trail. For those waiting for Sands of Sanibel 2, Larson's Quest, that is coming very soon as well.

Blessings,

Donna

Jodie | 3 comments Hi!

It's great to connect with those involved with children's books! I am an author of middle grade fantasy novels. They are published by Scholastic in Australia and New Zealand, Edizione Piemme in Italy, and I thought I'd try the indie-publishing path in the US because I just moved here.

I have been reading the previous introductions and I see a few familiar faces! Maybe the world is not such a big place afterall :-)

More info on my books can be found on my goodreads page or my website www.jodiebrownlee.com

I look forward to getting to know you all a little better.

Jodie

Thanks for the welcome, Gail! And thank you so much for taking the time to visit my website. I try to keep it interesting for my readers :-) I am exploring ways to interact more with them and now include a page in all my books which thanks them for reading the book and invites them to contact me via my website. I just started that this month so nothing to report yet.

Maranda Russell Hi! My name is Maranda Russell and I am a children's writer and foster/adoptive parent. My latest releases are ebooks, the first, entitled "In Memory of Dad", is geared for ages 7-14 and is an inspirational story about loss and moving on. The other ebook, "Weezie, the Elephant with Allergies" is an illustrated short story about acceptance and unconditional love. Of course, it also has quite a bit of gross humor that kids will love! Both ebooks have gotten great reviews so far and are available on Amazon, Barnes and Noble and Smashwords.
