Shadow Jubilee (uhqs) Just wondering, are rereads OK?

@Jane:

I found this titles here:
http://www.jandysbooks.com/tableconte...
Xenocide: Orson Scott Card
The Xibalba Murders: Lyn Hamilton
Xone of Contention: Piers Anthony
Xs: Louise Gaylord

There's also:
http://www.readbookonline.net/titles-...

http://onlinebooks.library.upenn.edu/...

etc. I typed in to Google "book titles that begin with x", and what do you know? It worked. lol.

Good luck!

Edit:
After rereading first post and noting that author's first and last name as well as main character's name can also do, I've revised a couple of books:

H The Hell You Say by Josh Lanyon [rereading currently]; Her Vampire Husband by Michele Hauf
E Emergency: Wife Lost and Found by Carol Marinelli
D Death of a Pirate King by Josh Lanyon [reread]; The Daddy Dilemma by Karen Rose Smith
G The Ghost Wore Yellow Socks by Josh Lanyon
E Enchanting the Lady by Kathryne Kennedy

Tommie (tommiemarie) Curiosity got the better of me, so I'm in. The quiz says I'm a Rabbit. I don't have my whole list figured out but here's where I'm starting.

R- Radiance by Alyson Noel 11/21/10

B- Bloody Valentine by Melissa de la Cruz

message 116: by Shadow Jubilee (last edited Mar 05, 2011 09:02PM) (new)

Shadow Jubilee (uhqs) I need to learn how to do strikethroughs. Figured it out!

G Secret Wedding by Liz Fielding: Hero named Tom Garrick also, The Spy Who Saved Christmas by Dana Morton: Hero named Reid Graham
E Enchanting the Lady by Kathryne Kennedy
H An Honorable Texan by Victoria Chancellor
O Sir Percy Leads the Band by Baroness Orczy
G The Ghost Wore Yellow Socks by Josh Lanyon

I will also work on doing the alternative titles, especially if they happen to be books on loan from the library as well.

Edit: Secret Wedding by Liz Fielding turned out to be a short story/novella so since I also recently read another book where the hero's last name begins with "G", I put that as an alternative title.

With this, as of March 5, 2011, I've concluded my first Reading Challenge. :)

Intervention was disappointing. The writing was fine, but the book tried to be all Da Vinci Code with these completely laughable religious plot-lines. Considering I didn't enjoy the original Da Vinci Code much, it's no surprise that I didn't enjoy a pale derivative either. I haven't read anything else from Robin Cook, but I'm willing to give him a second chance as I've heard a lot of his earlier work is much better. I couldn't seem to find The Puppeteer though.

A Countess Below Stairs was excellent ya historical fiction - I enjoyed it very much! It was a fun read, with just the right amount of romance, and the author obviously put some effort into researching Russia and the history. Really well done and doesn't seem dated at all, even though it was written in the 80s.

The protagonists are definitely Mary Sues, and the villains are pure evil with no nuance or good points. The books are quite predictable and fluffy, but still highly enjoyable. They're just a light feel-good read, but I find them a lot more sophisticated and intelligent than something like Gossip Girl or all the paranormal stuff - I learned some russian words, there are lots of references to classical music, lots of period-accurate historical details, etc. Plus, she has great vocabulary, especially with adjectives - I actually had to look a few words up! And she made a decent attempt to tackle more complicated themes like anti-semitism and ableism. So not the most challenging books plot-wise, but they're fun and sweet and not totally shallow.

Sashana I don't think the creator of the quiz did this on purpose. I think we had the same results because we are all avid reader and the quiz had a lot of 'reading/book' answers which we all-surprise!-probably chose.

Kristina (kristinalawhead) I'm in!

My quiz tells me I am a Rabbit, surprise surprise lol! "Rabbits are lovely creatures! They are warm and lovable, and they get along with just about anyone. Rabbits are dedicated, loyal, hard-working, and of course, they are extremely cute! Most of all, rabbits love to cuddle. People who are rabbits love to wear soft, cozy clothes, and sit near a warm fireplace when it's cold outside. Rabbits tend to look for the best in people, and often find it:

message 140: by Lisarenee (new)

Lisarenee | 7659 comments The quiz is based off a book. The one character likened the personalities of people to those of animals. Unfortunately, Meerkat was not one of the animals. Perhaps we should come up with an animal challenge that will allow you to use Meerkat. I wonder if we could do an animal alphabet challenge? Hmmmm..... Now you've got me wondering.
