Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) Has anyone here read Lolita? That's one I keep wanting to read, but get scared off because it's a translated classic. I've seen a couple of movies based on the book though.

I feel as you do... classics=daunting.. and nope, I haven't

Another good example of the lines being blurred would be in the book

Flowers in the Attic (Dollanganger, #1) by V.C. Andrews

The brother and sister were locked away together and developed an attraction to each other because they had no link to the outside world.

I don't think I'd read it..xD;

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) That book was scandalous when I was a kid. Everyone used to sneak that book. I haven't read it in years, but am willing to bet that it's pretty tame compared to what's out now.

I love controversial subject matter if it's done right.

message 6306: by brittany (new)

brittany (cirilla) Most books seem to be pissing me off one way or another lately. I need something good.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) You know I'll just say

Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins

Or Red Glove. Or Hourglass Door. Or Hex Hall. But I think Anna is the best because it's easy to get into right away and doesn't really have any boring parts. And St. Clair is hot.

message 6308: by brittany (new)

brittany (cirilla) I haven't even read White Cat yet. I think I might soon..in the holidays. I'll read Anna too. And I'd read the others but I can't be bothered buying them.

What about Storm Born?

Agree to all that (Im an echo to everything Stacia just said.) :)

I "think" you'll like Kiyo in that book, but you might like Dorian better. Kiyo's the Japanese fox spirit, and I know you like Asian guys, but he's also very alpha male. Dorian reminds me of a tamer V'lane. I just don't like that he wears robes all the time.

It was a good book, but sort of a lot of details to have to wade through until you figure things out, which made it a little slow at first.

message 6311: by brittany (new)

brittany (cirilla) Okay they both sound hot..maybe not the robes..but we'll see. It looks really good I think I'll read it soon.

I might also read the other one with the manly lady on the front. And Chicagoland Vampires.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) Hah. Manly lady. I know you have to mean Georgina Kincaid.

Are you more in a series mood or do you want standalone books?

message 6313: by Alison (new)

Alison | 234 comments Flowers in the Attic...that was a bloody good book. Totally forgot that I read that, I'll have to put it on my Read list :-) I read a couple of the others too but remember them going downhill after the 1st couple.

message 6314: by brittany (new)

brittany (cirilla) Yeah thats the one. xD

I don't mind either as long as they are actually worth reading.

Just looked at the new S&S ARCS and they all look boring too. Except for Wrapped.

message 6315: by Alison (new)

Alison | 234 comments Hey Brit, I'm honestly not trumping my horn or anything and I'm about to put my 1st book out for free anyway. But if you like The Iron Fey series you may quite enjoy mine. There are some simialrities (although mine was published before hers) but I can e-mail it to you if you're interested. That goes for anyone here also. Did I mention it's free :-)

Promise I won't push it on anyone, it's just a suggestion (you guys know me better than that by now).

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) Wrapped looks like a really good book, but the ratings for it make me nervous. They're pretty low. I might chance it at some point because it would count for my YA historical group and I'd like to be able to have more to contribute to the discussions over there.

I didn't read past Flowers in the Attic. The movie was actually pretty interesting. I've seen it a few times. The mom was a whack job...

Lol I looked at the ratings for wrapped too and I actually think that they're people just rating without reading some of them. Some people do just click ratings when they add them. I like the idea of it so I'm gunna give it a try because I haven't read anything from their galleys yet.

I bought your book and forgot to tell you! I plan on getting to it soon. The price was actually good, so I was happy to purchase it. Indie authors need all the help they can get.

As long as I don't have to worry about wasting my money, then I am okay with reading it.

message 6327: by brittany (new)

brittany (cirilla) True!

Ashley ~twisted_illusions~ (twisted_illusions) | 70 comments I'm still reading The Silver Chair (Chronicles of Narnia, #6) by C.S. Lewis and I started City of Bones (The Mortal Instruments, #1) by Cassandra Clare

message 6329: by brittany (new)

brittany (cirilla) I'm too scared to read the narnia books again incase I hate them because they're sexist.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) Great time to start CoB :)

message 6331: by brittany (new)

Ashley ~twisted_illusions~ (twisted_illusions) | 70 comments @Britnee Really, I haven't thought of them as sexist. Unless I'm forgetting something the only thing that was sexist to me was when Susan & Lucy weren't allowed to fight in The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe (Chronicles of Narnia, #2) by C.S. Lewis . I haven't read The Magician's Nephew (Chronicles of Narnia, #1) by C.S. Lewis The Horse and His Boy (Chronicles of Narnia, #3) by C.S. Lewis The Last Battle (Chronicles of Narnia, #7) by C.S. Lewis yet so I can't speak for them.

@Stacia I planned on reading this last month but that didn't happen but it works out pretty well to read it this month since CoFA comes out in two days.

message 6333: by brittany (new)

brittany (cirilla) @Ashley Yeah I didn't think of them that way either but I've seen alot of people pointing out stuff in them.

entangled is really good and refreshing

message 6340: by Alison (new)

Alison | 234 comments @Rebecca. I LOVE Fire me Up. That whole series is just so funny and sexy. Katie MacAlister is one of my fave Adult PNR authors. I just love her voice.

Have you read the rest of the series?

message 6341: by Chelsey (new)

Chelsey (-chelsey-) | 124 comments I finshed harry potter and the deathly hallows (in less than a day and a half, jeez obsessive much?) And CoFA comes in less than two days (YEAH!!) so i think i'll not start anything. maybe brush on some agathia christie, i'm curious to see if her books are any good. I also have the hunger games #2 on order.

Hi dora *waves*

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) Finished Can You Keep a Secret? by Sophie Kinsella for a group read and I borderline hated it at first (I'm not a chick lit kind of girl), but about 1/3 of the way in I started laughing my ass off hard. This book was hysterical.

Was going to read Forbidden by Tabitha Suzuma but it's not loading properly, so I guess I'm going to read Revelations (Blue Bloods, #3) by Melissa de la Cruz and try to finish Eon before CoFA comes.

message 6344: by brittany (new)

brittany (cirilla) Kpop stylist eh Stacia?

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) Someone needs to help those poor boys out.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) Is it a requirement to capitalize the K? I don't want to get it wrong.
