(book:The Title|The Book's Number)
The book's number is in the URL on its page. Use the book's number if multiple books have the same title, you want to link to a specific edition, or you want to customize the title.
Examples-
(book:The Book Thief) The Book Thief
(book:The Book Thief|19063) The Book Thief
(bookcover:Twilight)

(book:Best Book Ever|17717) Best Book Ever

In the "add book/author" pop-up box, you can also type in the ISBN number & it should bring up the edition associated with that ISBN. Unfortunately, publishers often change the cover art with a reprinting, so even though the ISBN matches, the cover art may not.

Yes, but the searching by ISBN will bring up the correct book automatically, instead of scrolling through pages and pages of "more editions".
My caveat is for older editions of often reissued books. For example, the cover of my 1967 edition of Grapes of Wrath is not represented on Goodreads at all, as it has been reprinted with a new art and the same ISBN.

But mostly ISBN's work very well.

Wayne if only all problems were as easy to fix

I don't find an edition listed with the exact pages numbers of the ARC I have in my hand.
I looked at the rules but I'm not clear.
The task I'm using requires pages numbers.
Do I post the Hardcover 1st edition for page numbers?
Book in question is: Olga Dies Dreaming

the rules say you should first use the MMP if there is one
If not use the PB edition
If no PB use hardcover
The way I do it for ARC's open the main book page and select all editions. On the all edition page click format and choose Mass Market Paperback/Paperback/ Hardcover
You may need to ask a librarian to add page numbers
For the book you cite it would be Hardcover 384 pages

Does anyone know of a way to fix this?
Thanks for the reply beforehand!

My browser is Firefox and I got to AR Bookfinder here: https://hub.lexile.com/find-a-book/se...

I can reach that website, and created an account. But if I click 'Indicators' it wants me to pay. Or am I looking in the wrong place for the scores?

AR (USA)
https://www.arbookfind.com/default.aspx
AR (UK)
https://www.arbookfind.co.uk
I can verify that these work on Safari and Firefox.

you shouldn't need to set up an account to access AR Bookfinder

This is so odd. I tried the links again in Safari, and Firefox as well. It doesn't work. "Secure Connection Failed"
I don't think there is anything off with my settings... maybe it is different since I am in the Netherlands? I'm really not sure what is going on.
I'm open for other ideas as to fix this.
If it remains a mystery, I'll just have to look for others posting the scores for the same book, or ask for help, I think?
Thank you all for trying though!

I posted a task with a cover requirement and used a digital ARC - but it popped up in the help thread asking me to post the cover of the actual book I read.
I've been away from SRC for a year or so, so I went back through and read all the rules, etc. and this was all I found for using ARCs in tasks:
10. Advance Reader Copies may be used to fulfill SRC tasks. Completed task posts MUST include a link to the book and identify the book as a publisher's advance copy.
So, I'm not sure how to post a cover task for this one. There aren't usually listings for ARCs as book editions - I'm a GR librarian, and can add one easily - but am I missing a clarification of rules where the use of ARCs has changed?

You must post a cover of the edition you read. If it's a kindle ARC, it's normally on GR as a kindle edition.

Ah, ok, so that's a little more clear. :) So match up the format I read with the closest edition? I usually do read my galleys on kindle, so that works, and if I happen to read one that's Adobe Digial only, I can link to an ebook version, but if I read a paperback ARC, but there are no paper editions because one isn't in the pipeline yet, what should I link to? Thanks

Both www.arbookfind.co.uk & www.arbookfind.com - worked for me just now! Can you try on a different device or maybe clear your browser cookies?

I have the same issue, for months the sites don't work for me (both on pc and phone). I haven't found any solution so far, even clearing cookies didn't work. Now I just search in the messages here who have read the books previously and copy those scores.. But it isn't a good solution I'm afraid.
If anyone finds the way to fix it, I'd love to know.

Could it be that it is somehow connected to our location? We're both from the Netherlands I see...

A book doesn't require a nonfiction genre to claim a ticket. It should be clear from the GR description that the book is nonfiction.

The FAQ has "10. When a task requires publication date of a book, what date do we use? Unless the task specifies otherwise, we use the first publication date of the book, according to the Goodreads record, regardless of the date any specific edition was published."
The trouble is, I'm finding more books with just a "published" date - for example Happy Mind, Happy Life. It's brand new as of March this year, but it only has "published" dates, not "first published" ones.
Can that still be used for a "first published in..." task? In this specific case 10.9 Spring into a Good Book.
Thanks.

Check all the editions to find the earliest date.
It is a good idea to make sure that the editions are completely and properly combined to avoid problems.

You can ask a librarian to update the record with a "first published" date - there are a lot of records missing that information.

Going forward, for MPG tasks, will we be restricted to the ones that show up by default on the new format front book page, or will we be able to use the ones that come up as "more"?
