Fly (fly-me-to-the-moo) | 888 comments yup, I was nowhere near the 10000 character limit lol
the "image error" shows where I've set a placeholder to add in an image link later - I generally clean them up when the challenge is done (and I had cleaned them up for March, but it reverted to the old post) - anyway, the things that used to show up when I'd "edit" are now gone. I lost an entire month of post edits... but only on certain posts. Very frustrating.

Anyway, thanks for checking! At least I know now that everyone was seeing my messed up posts and not just me LOL

Yes, I've noticed this as well with some of my series. And Lauren is right...if I shelve any edition other than the default edition, the book will more often than not, get marked as unread on the series list.

I just clicked on a notification of a comment on my task thread for the Summer challenge, but it didn't have any comments other than my own reserved ones. I refreshed the screen and it still remains the same. Is something weird going on with GR, or did the person just realize they didn't need the comment and deleted it?

Hannah | 448 comments Could someone check this book for me on AR Bookfinder? The websites still give error messages for me on multiple browsers.. alas.
Maybe the mods could set up a sticky thread (or regular thread) in the General Help folder for these requests? I don't want to clog up this one every time I ask for help...

Oh... thank you for trying!
I've re-read the rules... Am I right that a book with a "Middle Grade" MPG that doesn't show in AR Bookfinder doesn't work for any SRC task? Or is there a way to get it approved?

Task 5.10 allows Middle Grade/Childrens books that don't appear in AR Bookfinder. Hope that helps!

Edit: Darn, JennRenee beat me to it!

message 129: by Kathy KS (new)

Kathy KS | 2378 comments OK, who else is noticing this? When I go to the Seasonal Reading Challenge Discussion page it isn't updating properly about NEW messages. In the past, only truly new messages were marked in red in each category on this page. When I clicked on the red part, it took me directly to the new messages.

In the last few days, it's getting worse and worse. When I click on the red part, it takes me to old messages that have already been read. The worse one is the item below (just one example):
* Readerboard Names
By SRC Moderator · 1324 posts [red starts here](1304 new)[red ends here] · 1806 viewslast updated 4 hours, 51 min ago

When I click on the red "1304 new", it takes me to the a message from 2016.

I've cleared my history and cache in my browser and that doesn't seem to make a difference.

Yes, it's not earth-shattering, but extremely irritating. I like to read the new messages each day.

I'm also noticing this. In the Task Help section the "new" indicator isn't going away for me on task 10.8 (Royalty) and in the Fall Challenge 2023 section the "new" indicator on Group Reads-Magpie Murders takes me to my own post.

message 132: by Robin P (new)

Robin P | 1609 comments This is a GR glitch which is very annoying, affecting many threads and groups, though not all. I submitted a complaint last week but got only a form response.

message 133: by Robin P (last edited Oct 01, 2023 01:25PM) (new)

Robin P | 1609 comments Got an actual response today, the person seemed totally unaware of the issue. It seems when you send a request from GR about a technical problem, all they do is disregard it, take your email and send you a form letter asking for all kinds of detail on your operating system, etc. I thanked him for the reply but asked why we should bother to give any info in the original request! I had given one thread as an example. I also told him how important group communications are, without groups most of us wouldn't be on GR half as much.

It wouldn't hurt if more people want to submit help requests.

message 134: by Ann A (new)

Ann A (readerann) | 1091 comments I also submitted a bug report and got an email back today saying it was likely either an issue with my browser or I'm not running the latest version of the app (neither is the case). As with Robin, they seemed totally unaware of an issue.

I wish I had mentioned that many in our group (and other groups) are experiencing the same problem. I agree with Robin - the more people who report the issue, the better! I did not enter all the detailed info they asked for, just described briefly what was happening and attached a screenshot.

That’s fine, I didn’t have a screenshot, just a sample link. I did get another response later saying he found out they were aware of the problem and working on it. Then I got a feedback form with thumbs up or down and gave them thumbs down with some comments.

Can anyone remember how to paste actual pictures, or is that something you can't do in Goodreads any more.

If you click "(some html is ok)" above your post, it gives a pop-up window showing how to do it.

< img src="your url here" > without the spaces before and after the <>. One thing to note is that you might need to go directly to the image url rather than the Imgur gallery page.

Fly wrote: "ok so the book details (page count, ISBN, etc.) are no longer showing up... is this happening to everyone, or is this just a me thing?"

It's not just you, I'm missing a lot of the metadata too, which is something of a problem for dealing with task claims...

I've tested it on a couple of different browsers and got the same issue every time, so it's definitely something site-side as opposed to on the user's end.

message 142: by Fly (new)

Fly (fly-me-to-the-moo) | 888 comments thanks, glad it's not just me
hopefully this is an issue that will soon be resolved and not an "improvement" they're rolling out

Jayne (littlemissskittles) | 1399 comments Mod
It appears to be fixed now. I just navigated to a book page and everything was there - page count, ISBN, editions etc.

message 144: by Trish (last edited May 02, 2025 12:39AM) (new)

Trish (trishhartuk) | 3675 comments So, I keep having an odd problem with book editions. Certain books (most recently The Moving Finger), all the editions are there when you click the "Show xx editions" link on the main book page. BUT, the moment I try to choose, say, MMPB, it comes back with no results. I then have to choose a language, before the MMPBs start showing.

Anyone else a) having this problem; b) to the mods, if choosing English is the only way to get the MMPBs up, can I still use that for page count for a kindle edition, if I explain in a post that's what happened?

message 145: by Fly (last edited May 02, 2025 10:19PM) (new)

Fly (fly-me-to-the-moo) | 888 comments that was happening to me a couple days ago, but it either resolved itself or it was unique to the book I was looking up. I would check, but I can't remember which book it was :D

edit: I had the same thing with the book you linked

message 146: by Trish (new)

Trish wrote: "I'm certainly still getting the same problem with that particular book."

While testing, I noticed it in books with large edition counts so I was wondering if had to do with the amount of editions, but then I found two books with a similar edition count where one worked and the other didn't. My other idea is whether it is dependent on a specific language translation being available, but I don't know how to check for that very easily.

Let me talk with the other mods and see what their thoughts are.
