To be honest, Koontz is not one of my favorites but he made something pretty special with this book and character. Actually, rereading it now I'm enjoying it much more this time around so it's likely that I'll be giving some of Koontz's other novels another shot now.

Dani Landry (danilandry) You want to read a horror novel? Read Brave New World. It's some f-ed up stuff. And the fact that it was written in the 1930's makes it that much more so imo. *shiver*

Second Glance by Jodi Picoult is a great book! The beginning can be a little slow and confusing as well b/c of all of the characters that are introduced at the beginning, but stick with it, b/c it ends up being awesome :) Enjoy!!!

Hi Dustin,

This is the year that I decided I would finally reread all The Dark Tower series so, this is my 2nd time through it since it was first published.

For the most part I'm enjoying it more on this second read than I did the first time.

Literally! I finished it today. I hated it, loved it; and ended up crying at the end. It was a lot of torture, and I am glad I finished it, but I will never again force myself to finish reading a book I don't enjoy. The ending was superb, though.

I did not enjoy the end either; i just wanted Roland to finally get "a break", so to speak. As I look back at it, it seems quite fitting. I still loved the series and will hopefully read it in its entirety again someday.

@Lucy, congrats on setting that challenge. The series is quite awesome and at points will work your nerve, but it is addicting. Before you know it, you will be a gunslinger too. Ka-tet

Reading the new one after the first four should be ok. But we can't say for sure, as we haven't read it. Heh. I'll jump on it the day I get my copy, so I'll know fairly soon after that.

Thanks Chris for answering this! I've been kind of worried about starting to read the series, then adding Wind Through the Keyhole where it goes, and finishing the series. But, I've thought it might be best if I read the series without it, then going back and reading WTtK....decisions, decisions!

Not sure if you will have enough time. The first book is the challenge, and it's not even that long. It is the story and the fact that our esteemed author was a kind of "lit" when he wrote it. You really have to plow through and not make too much out of it. Just remember some key words and definitions; ka-tet, sai, etc. Once you read the 2ng & 3rd books, it all makes sense. :)
