What Are You Currently Reading?

I'm on The Yiddish Policemen's Union, The Immortal Prince and The Lies of Locke Lamora. And jumping in and out of Teeth of Beasts and Moon Over Soho to write reviews. I'm hopeless.

I've read the Eyre Affair already.
I'm thinking I need some scifi in my diet at the moment, after I get through a book I said I'd read and review.

;)
That's what happens when you read the Stand. You get sick and start worrying.

Very very original book....left me feeling like I'd taken a trip through an opium dream with a plot.
If you guys buddy read this, I would definitely join the discussion. 'Ware cliffhanger....!
Not such a bother, since, if I do continue - At least the series is finished.
We're gonna buddy read it in July. You're welcome to join in :)
Also, cliffhanger huh? Damnit.

Also broke my book-buying/borrowing ban to order a signed copy of Naamah's Blessing. But it's the last book in the series, so it doesn't count. >_> <_<

@ Ala~ I was just trying to think of something wildly different than Garrett. Although, it's still a kind of detective novel, so maybe that wasn't a great suggestion. An interesting scifi~ The Sparrow
@Valerie~ of course signed copies don't count! Grats!
I've got Sparrow on my TBR list. May get to that one next. Though I've been looking at the Mars books too.
Hrm.
Hrm.
Ala, you've got to read Heroes Die. It's my first foray into science fantasy and it was, simply put, Badass.
Abounding in badassery.
Badassery galore.
Bad-mfing-ass.
I'm just saying :)

Alright, after I finish this book I'll read Heroes Die.
It better be good.
It better be good.

It's so hard to talk about these books because you never know what is going to turn out to be a spoiler to someone, so I'll leave off here.
*nods* I'll watch the original Star Wars trilogy if you don't like it. No making up bs reasons for not loving the book tho! You're on the honor system here!
I hate it already, self. It has words and they're arranged in these things, I think it's called paragraphs. Ugh.
I think you should go watch Star Wars now.
I think you should go watch Star Wars now.

I think you should go watch Star Wars now."
*snicker*

I say this with all the love in the world...
Are you saying that someone as cool as you has not seen Star Wars?! It's like an epic fantasy in space!!!
Please watch it! Please!!

What, like this is a hardship?? Empire is completely fabulous and Star Wars is pure awesome camp (Luke whining "but Uncllllle..."). I won't comment on the Ewoks, but if you can watch Dr. Who, there shouldn't be a problem :)
Star Wars just isn't for some folks.
I'm not sure he'd even really enjoy it as much as those of us do who have that childs blanket of nostalgia wrapped around those films.
I still think he should watch it at some point, just to get the understanding of it all. But I'm not sure if he'll enjoy it.

Because by Jedi he was looking like he wanted to be anywhere else but in that film.
Lol...Well Carol, Harrison Ford is a pretty hot bastard.....*rubs chin*
Laurel, I have to admit that I'm a Star Wars virgin! I just never got around to watching them...
Honestly, Ala, I'd probably like it just fine. The only reason I never watched it was because all of my closest friends were Obsessed with the movies and I was inundated with Star Wars so much that I grew sick of it before I'd ever seen them. I had a friend walk down the aisle to the imperial march I think it was called and his groomscake was Yoda. Another friend was nicknamed Chewy and he made that growling/cooing noise so often that I finally chopped him in the throat one night. *shrugs*
I love Dr. Who and Stargate SG1 and er duh, Firefly, so I imagine that I'd enjoy Star Wars. I'll make ya a secondary deal. I'll watch the first one as soon as you finish Heroes Die. I'll watch the second when you read the sequel, etc ;) We'll trade awesomeness

Thank you for acknowledging this. I mean, I do have that childhood blanket of nostalgia, so I enjoy the films - but, really, they're not very "good", per se.

Well, yes, I am always surprised when people haven't seen them. Right up there with people who haven't seen Princess Bride.

A few years back, I was hanging out with some friends and I mentioned that I had never seen Casablanca. Worst. Decision. Ever.
My 4 friends immediately started talking all at once, how could I not see it, its the greatest movie ever, all of the quotes... So, long story short, despite my attempts to convince them that I would watch it soon on my own, they popped in the VHS. For the next two hours, I think there must have been at minimum a dozen times where they paused the tape, looked at me like Chris Farley's motivational speaker from Saturday Night Live and told me that I MUST pay attention to the quote that was about to be spoken! There were also about 20 lines where the 4 of them swivel headed to stare at me and judge if I reacted to the quote appropriately. I can't even remember the movie, I was so blown away by how thoroughly my friends ruined it for me.
I will watch Casablanca someday, but it will be at home, alone...
Grant, I would LOVE for you to see Star Wars. I have an idea that you and Han Solo have more than a passing resemblance. But, if you decide not to, I can totally empathize!

@Grant - you got a deal.
@Colleen - I may be a fanatic about Star Wars, but I'm not a blind one :P

I liked this series a lot and would like to participate too. But, I read the 1st 2 novels 6 or 7 years ago and have forgotten a lot of detail and don't really have time to re-read. If there is a buddy read, plz let me know.
Alright self, I'll be getting Heroes Die tonight.
You better have Star Wars IV: A New Hope ready to watch...

Awwwwww! Damn it, Grant! Stop giving her ideas!
Huh. *crosses arms and raises eyebrow* I'm no pushover. If I have to watch Dr. Who, you have to start with Witch World. If I have to I will buy you a (never new, they don't sell new anymore, I think :( ) copy of The Gates to Witch World which is the first 3 books of the series.

Now I have this sudden urge to go watch Star Wars again...seriously, I'm never going to get anything done.

Thank you for flying FA Airlines! Please put your tray in the upright position as we prepare for take off. Expect delays, there will be plenty.

The lesson here, Grant, is: If you ever do decide to watch Star Wars, do not do so in a roomful of us! LOL

Ditto.
We'd all fight over the remote and Grant's eyes. LOL!

Alright...I'll

Sounds like a great encouragement to read, the book beckoning you to start it. It came to my mind a few days ago and I finally had time to sit and look through my Nook and found it, so I started and the opening line was funny, I just read the book and watched the movie that the main characters were watching and discussing on the first page, so I had to read it after that.. I'm a few pages in and it's great.

Lot of potholes along the way, but still a fun series.
And now, I need something completely different."
"Look, matey, I know a dead parrot when I see one, and I'm looking at one right now."
Oh, not that kind of different? Well, how about The Eyre Affair?
