Tigana is pretty good. My first book by GGK and loved it.

Zuzana Urbanek | 45 comments Boo, I haven't read any of these, and they sound so good ... darn it, my piles and lists and mountains of TBR stuff keep GROWING!

The Kindle helps a little bit. :)

Reading The Hunger Games now. Only about 80 pages in, but like it so far. Anyone else read The Long Walk by Stephen King (Bachman novella)? The Hunger Games story idea totally reminds me of that. That story HAUNTED me after I read it -- so horrible and so well written.

It reminded me of [book:Battle Royale
. Disturbing yet compelling.

MrsJoseph *grouchy* (mrsjoseph) | 7282 comments I'm not really into dystopian books so I haven't read The Hunger Games as yet.

Right now I'm reading Assassin's Apprentice and Daemons Are Forever. I have a few other books I've picked up here and there but I haven't really dived into them. I OD'd on pretty bad romance this weekend and now I'm going to finish up these two books and then see what comes next.

I've got so many books to read that I HAVE to stop buying books for a while. I'm swamped!

Then you should look somewhere else. The Philly library system sucks. ;)

message 2008: by [deleted user] (new)

Started on Tigana instead of Consider Phlebas last night, since I still have time before the June BotM wave hits.

message 2009: by [deleted user] (new)

I've only read The Lions of al-Rassan by Kay, loved the hell out of it though.

message 2010: by [deleted user] (new)

heh, thanks. :)

I have a feeling I'll probably love the hell out of this too.

message 2011: by Sonja (new)

Sonja (crvena_sonja) | 76 comments I finished Fool Moon last night. Not a favorite but still enjoyable. I plan to continue with the series, especially since it's supposed to get better from here. For those who were ticked off by this book, I'm wondering why, or what in particular pissed you off?

I started Uglies last night. It's a YA but dystopian fantasy as far as I can tell...

message 2012: by [deleted user] (new)

I enjoyed Fool Moon, though it was a rather rocky start. The next two are also a bit on the rough side, but after that the series smooths out and gets progressively better.

I wasn't a fan of Uglies or Pretties at the end. I seem to be in the minority, but it just fell flat for me.

message 2014: by Sonja (new)

Sonja (crvena_sonja) | 76 comments Yeah... That's how I felt about The Hunger Games so I'll see how this one goes and carry on with the series depending on my impressions.

message 2015: by [deleted user] (new)

I read the Farseer trilogy, magician apprentice/master and a few other books :) good times!

Well, I'm only looking at ebooks and compared to DC's system - well, let's just say that Philly rocks.

I didn't like the way Harry would react to almost any situation with automatic guilt. And the way he keeps important info to himself - and his lack of trust in Murphy which always leads to him getting arrested.

I just re-read that one, along with the others in
The Bachman Books, they were excellent.

Kit★ (xkittyxlzt) | 1018 comments I just finished The Magicians and Mrs. Quent and I loved it. I need the next one now. I'm so happy I got to read that book lol, that's how much I liked it.

I really enjoyed that series. #1 was my least favorite and One Good Knight was my favorite.

message 2027: by Traci (new)

Traci Halfway through I Am Not A Serial Killer. A surprisingly good horror book. As long as there's no Scooby Doo ending I recommend it.

message 2028: by Jason (new)

Jason (darkfiction) | 3204 comments That's a great book, Traci. I think you'll like the ending just fine!

message 2029: by Jessie Leigh (new)

Jessie Leigh (msjessie) I also enjoyed the second one, Mr. Monster. John's amusing. Dexter Morgan lite, with a twist.

Hehe, Tracey, I got so much reading done on jury duty last year. Even being picked for a trial, there were still hours of downtime to read :)

Making my way through The Well of Ascension (Mistborn, #2) by Brandon Sanderson . So far, not quite as good as Mistborn, but still enjoying.

Traci Jessie wrote: "I also enjoyed the second one, Mr. Monster. John's amusing. Dexter Morgan lite, with a twist."

Finished I Am Not A Serial Killer & loved it. Disturbing but also darkly funny & in a strange way touching. Very happy to see there's a sequel.

Danielle The Book Huntress (gatadelafuente) Even though serial killers ick me out, I want to read I Am Not a Serial Killer. The reviews make me think I will like it.

There's even a third one I Don't Want to Kill You, that finishes off the story line and imo each book is better than the last.

Dan Wells is on some other projects currently (a YA postapocalyptic series and a novel about a man with schizofrenia) but has said that he will probaly start a new John Cleaver series afterwards.

Kit★ (xkittyxlzt) | 1018 comments Jessie wrote: "I really enjoyed that series. #1 was my least favorite and One Good Knight was my favorite."

So far it's good, I'm liking it. I have One Good Knight in my TBR, so that's good to hear :)

message 2035: by Jason (new)

Jason (darkfiction) | 3204 comments Lady Danielle, I can't recommend Dan Wells' I Am Not A Serial Killer series enough. It is the best serial killer-like novel I have read! That's saying something.

I can't even tell you what it is, for sure. One part of the first book just took me by surprise and I've been hooked since.

message 2039: by Jason (new)

Jason (darkfiction) | 3204 comments Wow, that would suck, Tracey. You have my sympathies! And good luck.

Danielle The Book Huntress (gatadelafuente) I wouldn't want to be on that trial. Good luck to you, Tracey.

Danielle The Book Huntress (gatadelafuente) I'm glad for you in that case!

gnnnnaaaaaaaaaawwwwwwwww.

shut up, damn you

On-topic: finished Tigana. Enjoyed it, though there was a serious undertone of sadness/depression through the book.

Starting on Consider Phlebas today hopefully.

message 2047: by [deleted user] (new)

I keep telling myself I'm going to go back and finish all these series that I've started, but I never do...

I have no willpower.

message 2048: by MrsJoseph *grouchy*, *good karma* (new)

MrsJoseph *grouchy* (mrsjoseph) | 7282 comments I'm usually pretty good about finishing series if I really like them. If I'm just meh then I get to it whenever.

Right now on deck:
Assassin's Apprentice
Daemons Are Forever
The Duke's Ballad

Up next: Hounded - But I'm thinking of pausing so that I can nominate it for a group UF read. Sounds really good and the guy on the cover like he could be hot. :-)

message 2049: by Cheryl (new)

Cheryl Landmark (clandmark) | 861 comments Darn you, MrsJ! I've just added Hounded to my wish-list! *sighs theatrically*

message 2050: by Valerie (new)

Valerie (versusthesiren) | 357 comments Yeah, I added Hounded recently after reading the summary - it sounds really cool. :D
