Dhfan4life | 10411 comments Glad to have you aboard Megan. :)

And no worries on where you are most of us are about where you are or a little farther ahead. Others are re-reading champs! But how can ya not be when you in love with the AG!(Author Goddess). Pull up a chair and dive right in.

You might have a fight on your hands with Manuela for Vane but I'm sure he appreciates all praise by the ladies. ;)

Missyb | 35 comments Hi, I think I've intro'd myself before, but if not, Hello. From the Rochester NY area.

I've read up to Retribution.
I didn't care for Jessup, so gave up on the book quickly, and never went back to the series. I was wondering if I could skip Retribution, & Time Untime, read Styxx & Dragonbane and be okay?

message 1553: by Dhfan4life, Honey Bun (new)

Dhfan4life | 10411 comments Hi Missyb,

Have seen you around these parts before. Welcome back of course. :) As for skipping Retribution and getting to the others...Have you read any of the CON books? Cause I think there is some stuff that tie in between those books and CON and eventually shows back up in a few details here and there later on. At least for the Guardian I think it was? But to be on the safe side, me thinks we should wait for Charlotte or Myst to verify that. As there are always fine details one can miss at times that are important clues later on.

Charlotte (charkro) | 1798 comments Welcome, Megan ... and welcome back, Missyb! =)

We hope to hear from y'all on the boards here (and Megan, you're in luck, we'll be doing a re-read BOTM of the League series starting next month with Born of Night, so we would LOVE to hear your comments and thoughts!)

And to answer your question, Missyb, about skipping some of the books ... it should be ok, really. (Heck, I skipped around, myself, with the Dream-Hunter books, lol) Our lovely AG has stated over and over that each book is written to be a standalone, so no repercussions if you skip ahead. =)

Now ... not sure how much of Retribution you read, but I HIGHLY recommend, if nothing else, at least skipping to the very end and reading the bonus scene. ;) Other than that, though, it introduces a concept that appears later in Styxx's book, and it's sort of a lead-in to Time Untime (which does deliver a whopper or two). And the Guardian introduces a few surprisingly important characters, as well as a few details that come into play in later books. =)

Again, your choice completely. You shouldn't be completely lost if you skip those books, but certain scenes in the later books will make more sense if you do read them. And Dhfan is right, there's some awesome info in the CON books that come into play in the DH books. And it would be helpful to read Son of No One (do you like Thorn? There's a LOT of him in that book) before Dragonbane. =)

Whew ... sorry for the long post! But we hope to hear from you on the boards, here and there. =)

I read maybe a chapter or two of Retribution, years ago. I will skim through it at your recommendation.

Not sure what the CON books are. I have read everything (Dream, Dark, Were) including Dragonswan & some of the short stories, up to Retribution. I didn't read the Dream Hunter books in the right spot, but I read them.

Thanks for the info/recommendations.

CON is the Chronicles of Nick series that is a prequel/sequel to the DH books. Chock full of interesting tidbits about his Malachai way of life and other things.

Lajean | 5 comments Hey y'all, my name's LaJean or simply LJ to friends. I've been a memeber on Goodreads for a few years and have only now discovered the joys of the site. I did a search and discovered this group, my favorite author and lots of others who think so too. This could be fun!

message 1560: by Pamela(AllHoney) (new)

Pamela(AllHoney) (pamelap) Hello, I'm new to this group but I've been around GR for years. Love The League series! I only read a couple of her other books until recently I grabbed Acheron. I liked Acheron and may try to give her DH series another chance.

message 1561: by Dhfan4life, Honey Bun (new)

Dhfan4life | 10411 comments Hi Pamela,

Welcome to the group and if you loved the League you can't go wrong with the Dark-Hunter books either. They are so interwoven but so beautifully done as well. Really can't go wrong with this author. Feel free to join in the discussions. Ask questions and the like too.

blackd0vey | 14 comments Hi, I'm dovey. I've been lurking for a while...
So this is long overdue.

I'm in the Midwest but born and raised in Europe.
I'm home right now on maternity leave with my beautiful newborn baby. He's a whopping 3 weeks old and I love him to bits.

I've been reading the DH series since Fantasy Lover came out and I've decided to stick with it until I find out who Savitar & Jaden really are hahaha!

I browse and read the different threads especially the ones with fan theories.

Have a great day, everyone!

Charlotte (charkro) | 1798 comments Hi dovey, and welcome to the group! =)

Congratulations on the birth of your son, I'm sure he will give you many moments of joy. I have two kids myself (both teenagers now), and I do remember those days when each was first born. =)

If you ever get the chance, do feel free to post some of your thoughts on the books in the various threads we have going on. We're always glad to discuss things with fellow Menyons. =)

Dhfan4life | 10411 comments Hi Blackdovey and waves to the new little dovey there too. :)

Happy to have you not lurking so much. And definitely look forward to your theories and ideas on stuff too. Never hurts to toss in new ideas from time to time. :) And hopefully one day your son will be a fan too of the books. :)

message 1571: by Alicia (new)

Alicia | 49 comments Hello my name is Alicia. I thought I introduced myself but I apologize for not doing so. I am a working college student who got introduced to the love of paranormal romances through Kenyon's Dark Hunter series. I love the story lines and the fact that the backgrounds and characters connect continuously. I own all the paperback versions out this far. Currently I am waiting for Dragon's Bane to be in paperback. Thank you for allowing me to be a member. I find it an honor.

message 1572: by Dhfan4life, Honey Bun (new)

Dhfan4life | 10411 comments Aww, thanks for the official intro Alicia. But we are just as honored to know you as well too. It's just an amazing thing for so many fans from all over the world to get together and talk about such a great Author. And although can't speak for everyone, but I know I'm happy to have you with us in the group too. :)

Adam (doward) | 165 comments Morning!

I'm Adam, I'm 26 and I live in Nottingham, England. I came across SK by mistake actually and fell in love with her style of writing and her characters. I love everyone's different theories and I really hope I contribute to them with you all!

message 1578: by Dhfan4life, Honey Bun (new)

Dhfan4life | 10411 comments Hi Adam welcome to the group. Believe we have another Adam around these parts too. So hopefully we don't mix you up. Also glad to have another guy that enjoys the books as well. I finally believe it now, the darkside does have "cookies" lol.

message 1579: by Adam (new)

Adam (doward) | 165 comments see I don't really think of the books as romance books to me there fantasy books lol i do like cookies.....

message 1580: by Dhfan4life, Honey Bun (new)

Dhfan4life | 10411 comments Actually you are spot on with that. Where else can you have people turning into were-bears and rocking out at a bar and Godly police peeps getting time to get their surf on? Best set of fantasy I've found yet. ;) Haha, awesome cause we've all bitten the Menyon cookie a long time ago.

Oh and feel free to dive in the discussions and meet other peeps. Most are a snoozing(where I should be taking myself here in a few), but yea it'll definitely be active after a bit later on. If you thought you weren't getting enough GR mail, you will soon have a flood in hours lol.

Charlotte (charkro) | 1798 comments Hi, Diane, and welcome to the board! =) Always glad to meet a fellow bookworm. =)

How many of Sherrilyn Kenyon's books have you read? Inquiring minds would like to know. XD

(Oh ... and just to let you know, I deleted out the multiple copies of your post. For some reason, every once in a while, a post decides to clone itself almost spontaneously. So no worries, you're not in trouble. ;D)

Dhfan4life | 10411 comments Hi Diane and welcome to the group. Sounds like GR is the right place for ya and your voracious reading appetites. :)

message 1585: by Darcy (new)

Darcy | 1 comments Hi, I’m Donna from New Jersey (my profile pic is my better half Darcy) and I am a newbie to both the group and SK universe. I read Night Play three years ago based on the rating of the book on this site and I liked the book, but fell in love with Acheron. Recently, I came across a SK book and I instantly remembered the series, especially Acheron. I am now on my fifth book, unfortunately not in order. I have a tendency to read ahead to determine if I should bother to read the whole book or series, but I have not been disappointed yet with this series, so I am going to start from the beginning with the prequel Fantasy Lover. I am enjoying the books I have read and still love Ash, but I hope that will not change once I get to the most recent books.

I am happy to find to this place and feel I should wait until I am more caught up on the books to share more.

Dhfan4life | 10411 comments Hi Donna,

Tyler Daley | 1 comments Hi I am Tyler from Australia.

Love three of Sherrilyn Kenyons series'.
CON
DH
League.

Dark hunter was my favourite for years. I'll be honest League is probably my favourite now. DH close second though.

Whenever I can't decide on a book to read I always reread one of her series. I read all those three at least twice a year.

message 1600: by Misty (new)

Misty | 83 comments Hello everyone! I'm Misty, from Italy.
I just recently finished reading the Dark Hunter series with Dragonbane (bless the reading list that I found on Sherrilyn Kenyon's website) and I'm now going on with Chronicles of Nick.
I love these books and this world and honestly I'm taking notes now so I don't miss any clues here and there... also re-reading the whole series for the same reason.
I guess you could say that when I like a book, I tend to analyze it and shred it to pieces to find every possible detail ^^
I still have to read The League, but I guess once I'm done with the Dark Hunter world, it will be my next target :)
