Cindyg (brotherlover) | 248 comments A good friend is currently reading Acheron's story and she texted me...said she was crying...told her to keep the kleenex handy for a little while...more tears to come...

message 60: by Fangirl Musings (new)

Fangirl Musings (fangirlmusings) Oh, jeez..poor girl! Acheron is DEFINITELY a tearjerker if I ever there was such! It took ages, but I finally had convinced my mom to read Sherri's DH series, and she did. She loved it and read every single book...until Acheron. She literally cried so hard, and got SO upset that she was unable to finish reading the first part of Acheron. She just stopped because it hurt her too much to continue. She did read part two, though. That, she absolutely loved.

I myself cried my eyes out at least five or six times before the closing of the second "chapter."

Still, though, I have to say that the tears and pain in Acheron's life made reading his HEA all the more amazing! :)

message 61: by Steph (new)

Steph (lovessf) I read Acherons book, it was amazing. I couldn't believe how dark the first part of that book was. I think most people know from the other books, that Acheron had had a really hard time in his human life. I just didn't expect it to be that bad. It revealed so much about him. It's no wonder he tries so hard to keep it a secret form the dark hunters. I loved that he fanally found Tory. Somebody to love him back. It was a fantastic book!

message 62: by Cindyg (new)

Cindyg (brotherlover) | 248 comments She's texted me again, new night but still fighting to get through the first half of Acheron's book. Finally said she was crying to bad that she had to put the book down. I so remember going through that...

Debra | 7 comments Welcome Tasha,
I'm reading Acheron's book. I love the Dark Hunters to!!!

message 65: by Fangirl Musings (new)

Fangirl Musings (fangirlmusings) I agree, Steph! Acheron's book was definitely amazing! I really can't say whether or not I was surprised over how dark part one of Acheron was, truly. I didn't expect the context of his human life to be what it was, but I knew that it was going to be housebreakingly horrible. Though, either way, I was absolutely THRILLED when I realized, come part one, that Acheron's heroine was Tory. I was so praying she would be such, and I'm thrilled that I got my wish :).

Aw, man, I can definitely sympathize. I never did end up putting the book down, per se, but I do remember crying so hard that I couldn't see the text through my tears.

*Chuckles* Though, that turned out to be a bit of a weird experience at one point. Back in 2008, when the book was released, I was working at my local library. On every break and during lunch, I had my nose buried in Ash's book. That probably wasn't a good idea, though, since I couldn't count the number of times a co-worker or patron came up to inquire if I was okay. You know, since I had tears streaming down my face and was practically hyperventilating.

For non-fans or readers of Sherri, they just can't, and couldn't, understand.

Cindyg (brotherlover) | 248 comments Yea!!!Got No Mercy on Friday and then a friend made me promise not to read it until she catches up and can read it with me.
Oh she also went and got Acheron's symbol tattooed on her neck on Saturday. Can't wait to see it.

message 77: by Fangirl Musings (new)

Fangirl Musings (fangirlmusings) Cindyg! That's so great that you got your copy of No Mercy finally. Hopefully you won't have to wait too long to read it, but at least it will draw out the anticipation, hehe.

I actually FINALLY was able to get a copy of No Mercy at the Indianapolis No Mercy book signing Saturday, but I'm actually waiting until my collector's edition arrives in the mail to read that copy and just ended up giving my mom the other copy. (Wow. That was one, hella long sentence! LOL)

*Strains brain* Hey Mary, quick question...can you refresh my memory as to which character is Gem? I don't remember that character :(.

message 80: by Mary (new)

Mary Hi Acheron's Akra/Tara

Thank for the welcome.

My apologies for the Gem. Gema is in the Demonica Series(Larissa Ione) and reminds me so much of Tabitha, Valerius girl. Gema like Tabitha has the short colourful outfits "Gothic" look and is kick ass as well.

Cheers
MB

Cindyg (brotherlover) | 248 comments I'm currently reading Amy Lane's Little Goddess series and lovin it so I've been disattracted...have you read the Little Goddess series?

message 82: by Mary (new)

Mary Hi Cindyg,

I haven't read Amy Lane's Little Goddess series but I have read the following: (Black Dagger Brothers, JR Ward). (Larissa Ione; Demonica Series), (Sydney Croft; Acro Series), (Joey Hill, Vampire Queen Series: this series is not for the faint hearted) and am currently reading Gena Showalter. I have enjoyed all these books. All these books are a fantastic read.

Sharon (Simi) Ehcstasy Cindyg wrote: "I'm currently reading Amy Lane's Little Goddess series and lovin it so I've been disattracted...have you read the Little Goddess series?"

Hi Cindy,
what is the Little Goddess series about?

message 84: by Cindyg (new)

Cindyg (brotherlover) | 248 comments Well Mary, it's right up there with those series...one hell of a series

message 85: by Cindyg (new)

Cindyg (brotherlover) | 248 comments Sharon, it's the story of a young woman who discovers she is more than human, and the wonderful world of faes, vamps, weres and so much more that she happens upon. It's a wonderful story of love, life, loss, it's the kind of read that you just cannot put down, there are four books in the series so far and I highly recommend them all.

Oh! Okay, yay! I'm not loosing my mind, LOL. No worries whatsoever about the mix up. That happens :).

I've not read that series, nor the others that are noted here, but I think I might take a look at them for they do sound really interesting :).

message 94: by Colette (new)

Colette | 14 comments Hi all, I'm a little late in the game, but Sherrilyn Kenyon is one of my favorite authors so this is such a great group! I love the Dark Hunter world and have gotten my older sister hooked on it as well.

I never used to read until one day I wondered what all the hype about Twilight was, so I picked up the first book back in 2008 I think and fell in love with it. Ever since then I have been reading every piece of PNR, UF, etc that I can find!

My favorite character in the series was Zarek but now he is kind of out of the picture so I guess I have to fall in love with someone else. :) I am a big fan of Dev as well so I loved No Mercy.

message 95: by Cindyg (new)

Cindyg (brotherlover) | 248 comments Welcome Colette...it happened to me the exact same way...read the Twilight series and I've been hooked ever since on PNR and UF...damn, so many good reads but Kenyon's books are in my top five, hands down. My first love is Acheron...can't get enough of my big god/man...and I love talking about the books and the wonderful characters and the world Kenyon has given birth too.

message 96: by Fangirl Musings (new)

Fangirl Musings (fangirlmusings) Welcome aboard, Colette! Being a newbie fan is awesome - better late then never :).

I, too, am a dedicated fan of the paranormal genre - though I personally hate the Twilight series, but to each their own :) - and have been a fan of Sherri's since 2004.

I would say that Zarek and Dev are my favorite characters, but I'd be lying...they're ALL my favorite, LOL. I'm DYING to read Dev's book, but the stupid mail man is toying with me by having yet to deliver my copy of No Mercy. *Makes sad face and shakes fist to the cosmos.* LOL

message 97: by Fangirl Musings (new)

Fangirl Musings (fangirlmusings) You know, Cindyg, that's actually something that I was discussing with my mom yesterday evening - the world/s Sherri has built. Specifically, how expansive they are. When I sit back and think of all the famous (and some infamous, in my opinion) paranormal romance authors on the market, I can't name a single one who has created a world that is as huge as Sherri's. Not just character wise or geographically speaking, either, but conceptionally huge, too. The amount of powers and creature/being creations she's established is seriously mind boggling!

message 98: by Roberta (new)

Roberta Bennett-Mabrey She is easily my favorite author because her books have everything, great characters with unbelievable backgrounds, action, adventure , humor, hot sex, of course, and storylines that keep you needing to get to her next book even after 20 stories I could read 20 more! I absolutely love her!!

message 99: by Cindyg (new)

Cindyg (brotherlover) | 248 comments So true Tara...
So true Roberta...

message 100: by Fangirl Musings (new)

Fangirl Musings (fangirlmusings) I feel the exact same way, Roberta! In fact, I don't think I've ever heard a better description of the awesomeness that's incorporated into Sherri's books!

I, too, adore Sherri, and not just for the stupendous talent she possess. She is actually a very sweet, kind person, and her genuine niceness is just one more thing that she rocks at, LOL.
