Guy (egajd) | 11249 comments Professor: I am sure I don't understand the appeal to anyone of this thread.
Sophia: [Ignores him.]
Professor: [I little more loudly.] I said 'I don't understand the appeal to anyone of this thread'!
Sophia: [Walks away to see if she can find Guy.]
Professor: Hey! [He starts calling out more loudly.] Didn't you hear me?! I said: 'I don't understand the appeal to anyone of this thread'! [He looks around trying not to look impotent. Mutters.] I don't imagine that the moron below me will actually hear me, either.

message 1052: by Guy (new)

Guy (egajd) | 11249 comments Guy: What? What? Sorry, I didn't hear you!

TPBM finds random popcorn confusing. Mildly intriguing, but confusing.

Guy (egajd) | 11249 comments Alex (Al) wrote: "Frank: (Sipping whiskey in his office.) No one listens to me either, Professor. We're just specs of dirt in a huge world that no one cares about."
LoL!

Guy (egajd) | 11249 comments Pandora: [Looking at Guy.] You have heard the parable of the spec of dirt?
Guy: Yes! Of course. [Tries to keep his smile from betraying how knowing the answer to a Pandora question stroked his ego.]
Pandora: [Pauses, waiting.] Well?
Guy: [A little flushed.] You mean you want me to elaborate?
Pandora: [Taps her fingers and looks up towards the ceiling.]
Guy: [Clears his throat. And suddenly his tongue felt too big and his mouth too dry.] It is one of the famous Taoists arguing that the Tao is in, er, I mean. Chuang-Tzu points out that dirt has as much right, I mean is as alive, as— no, I mean it,… I mean, dirt is as special as, I mean as spiritual as— Not spiritual, I mean…
Pandora: [Puts up her hand. Guy goes quiet.] Feeble effort to steal the brownie! [Smiles.] It means that even in 'dirt' like Frank there is Tao. The energy of Life doesn't separate the deserving from the undeserving. All get it's sustenance from Tao, without differentiation.
Guy: [Smiles.] Does this mean that Frank has just as much right to get an audience with you as the dirt stuck between your toes?
Pandora: [Laughs.] Of course!
Guy: But! But you've been keeping him waiting! Aren't you being a hypocrite?
Pandora: Not at all! Tao is just as much in the top of K2 as the smallest mote of dust caught in the hairs of my nose. And in the same way, Tao's existence in snow and ice doesn't mean that I need to freeze at the top of K2 to feel parables of truth.
Guy: But doesn't that just make you a snob?
Pandora: [Laughs.]
Guy: [Opens his should bag and pulls out a cookie. Double chocolate and soft.] Want one?
Pandora: Only if the person below you wants a glass of milk to dip it in with us.

Kirilee: Why, of course! Milk is delicious, though I've never tried a (paused, looks at package) a double chocolate cookie?
Me: What are you talking about? I've made you plenty of double chocolate chip cookies!
Kirilee: (huffs) But yours don't taste good! You burn them!
Me: I'll burn you if you don't shut up.
Kirilee: I'm the one with fire powers, remember?

message 1056: by Guy (new)

Guy (egajd) | 11249 comments Thanks Al! Hi Kat.

TPBM has already gone to bed and has fallen asleep.

message 1057: by Ajay (new)

Ajay (ajay_n) | 1138 comments Yup. Just got up. The reason: Hunger.

TPBM likes to skip class and sleep all day.

message 1058: by M (new)

M | 11617 comments Oh, yes! I get to go to sleep.

TPBM has never heard the kazoo version of Dvorak’s New World Symphony.

message 1059: by Stephanie (new)

Stephanie (chasmofbooks) | 2875 comments Why are you recording popcorn?

TPBM is sad they have to stop watching Merlin.

message 1060: by M (new)

M | 11617 comments Hi, Stephanie!

message 1061: by Stephanie (new)

Stephanie (chasmofbooks) | 2875 comments Hey, M! How are you?

message 1062: by M (new)

M | 11617 comments I just got finished washing dishes.

TPBM doesn’t love to wash dishes.

message 1063: by Stephanie (new)

Stephanie (chasmofbooks) | 2875 comments Me either!

TPBM is watching Merlin.

message 1064: by Guy (last edited Oct 30, 2012 09:42PM) (new)

Guy (egajd) | 11249 comments I had better not be! I made supper, cleaned the dishes and carved two big pumpkins since getting home. Now I am feeling sleepy, and I have some popcorn I am feeling too sleeping to write!

TPBM loves everything about Halloween except the candy.

message 1065: by C. J., Cool yet firm like ice (new)

C. J. Scurria (goodreadscomcj_scurria) | 4485 comments I think I am the complete opposite to that! :P lol.

TPBM was NOT affected by Hurricane Sandy but as FYI now knows that TP-Above-M was! :P

message 1066: by Ajay (new)

Ajay (ajay_n) | 1138 comments Nope. Unfortunately, those class room days are over for me. Repeating Alex's question:

TPBM was dared by their professor to wear their halloween costume to class today.

message 1067: by Guy (new)

Guy (egajd) | 11249 comments Nope, work has become in the last few years less open to these social activities as they race to maximize profits at the expense of everything else.

TPBM received from a significant other a delightful Halloween card.

message 1068: by M (new)

M | 11617 comments The card I got was cute, which, to me, is the opposite of delightful.

TPBM has already finished off two cups of strong coffee this morning.

message 1069: by Guy (new)

Guy (egajd) | 11249 comments Half true! Hmmm. Does that sentence even make sense, really?

TPBM is surprised that only one macabre story has been entered so far for this week's contest.

message 1070: by M (new)

M | 11617 comments Yep. If I were signed up for any classes, my plans for today wouldn’t help my grade average any.

TPBM is furiously working on a story.

message 1071: by Guy (new)

Guy (egajd) | 11249 comments Sigh! I wish. Oh! Of course, I could consider what I do at work a kind of story making!

TPBM is joyously working on a story.

message 1072: by M (new)

M | 11617 comments No. I’m about to go and joyously starch and iron clothes.

The person below me knows the difference between 32-bit XP and 64-bit XP.

message 1073: by Guy (new)

Guy (egajd) | 11249 comments Actually, I do. Isn't that sad. Especially when you consider that I don't like XP.

TPBM recognizes that failure is life helping us learn who we are.

message 1074: by M (new)

M | 11617 comments I’ve been wildly successful at adapting to failure.

TPBM likes design and layout.

message 1075: by M (new)

M | 11617 comments I never say no when a good-looking brunette asks me if I want a hug.

TPBM would like a double-tall breve mocha.

message 1076: by M (new)

M | 11617 comments Your dad is a hoot! Has he been playing much in his band lately?

message 1077: by M (new)

M | 11617 comments Oops! I forgot what thread I was in.

message 1078: by Guy (new)

Guy (egajd) | 11249 comments Well yes! I was supposed to give you a hug earlier and instead spouted pithy platitudes! (Hug's Al.)

TPBM is looking out at a dark and dreary day, filled with rain and black clouds.

message 1079: by Stephanie (new)

Stephanie (chasmofbooks) | 2875 comments Ugh. I'm sure I wouldn't like philosophy if it was one of my classes.

TPBM is taking a U.S. Gov. exam.

message 1080: by M (new)

M | 11617 comments You might enjoy philosophy, Stephanie! As with any subject you take in school, the experience has a lot to do with the kind of teacher you wind up with, but I was surprised by how much I liked philosophy. I was terrible at it, but that’s a different issue.

message 1081: by Stephanie (new)

Stephanie (chasmofbooks) | 2875 comments Eh, maybe. I might like parts of it....

message 1082: by Hanzleberry (new)

Hanzleberry (doughboyissweet) | 1065 comments I LOVE philosophy! So fun!

TPBM loves their sister. (For driving them everywhere).

message 1083: by Hanzleberry (new)

Hanzleberry (doughboyissweet) | 1065 comments Do I sense bitter resentment?? Who is this awful sister who doesn't drive you around?? Tell me; I'll hunt her down!
And no. I'm happy.

TPBM is a cannibal.

message 1084: by M (last edited Oct 31, 2012 05:43PM) (new)

M | 11617 comments Uhm, hmm. How should I reply to Hanzle’s TPBM? Maybe I had better not.

TPBM finds that driving offers an ideal opportunity for studying a foreign language.

message 1085: by Hanzleberry (new)

Hanzleberry (doughboyissweet) | 1065 comments Zombies eating people isn't cannibalism...

Cakes? CAKES?! No.

TPBM has sweet dance moves.

message 1086: by Hanzleberry (new)

Hanzleberry (doughboyissweet) | 1065 comments Only slightly more warped than you.

TPBM is very cold right now.

message 1087: by Hanzleberry (new)

Hanzleberry (doughboyissweet) | 1065 comments Psssh.

TPBM is a wisecrack.

message 1088: by Ajay (new)

Ajay (ajay_n) | 1138 comments Nope. The second one's true. I'm definitely a crack. Probably the only thing I'm sure of.

TPBM likes to workout in the gym everyday.

message 1089: by Kyra (new)

Kyra (Nikara) | 1221 comments Not at the gym, but I like working out.

TPBM wishes today were a soccer practice day.

message 1090: by Ajay (new)

Ajay (ajay_n) | 1138 comments Absolutely. No other feeling than arranging those defence lines while practicing those corner kicks. Probably one of the most trickiest areas of play for goal-keepers. Well, at least for me.

TPBM likes Daniel Craig and feels that he is doing an awesome job as the new Bond.

message 1091: by Stephanie (new)

Stephanie (chasmofbooks) | 2875 comments Uh, I have no idea.

TPBM should be writing for NaNoWriMo.

message 1092: by Guy (new)

Guy (egajd) | 11249 comments On principle I reject all 'shoulded' behaviours. But, as I've not signed up to NaNo, I could say Nah, No.

TPBM prefers writing popcorn to writing short stories.

message 1093: by Stephanie (new)

Stephanie (chasmofbooks) | 2875 comments No, but I think a silver pumpkin would be nice to have.

TPBM wonders when Uther is going to die in Merlin and how in the world their going to be able to watch season 4 since it's not on netflix.

message 1094: by Kyra (new)

Kyra (Nikara) | 1221 comments LOVE THAT SHOW!!!!! I wasn't aware anyone else watched it... XD
And yes, I am wondering that. DEATH TO UTHER!!!!!!

TPBM has an odd taste in music and media.

message 1095: by Guy (new)

Guy (egajd) | 11249 comments Well, since I'm Nah No writing, any words are exceeding.

Hi Al! I'm fine. I was writing my blog and my (weak) story for macabre and working. How are you? Cold gone? Recovered from exam blues? Moving forward?

TPBM has read Mary Stewart's Merlin books.

message 1096: by M (new)

M | 11617 comments Yes, indeed! I’m going to go dig some home movies out of the closet right now.

TPBM has already stopped at a coffeehouse this morning for something loaded with caffeine and chocolate.

message 1097: by Stephanie (new)

Stephanie (chasmofbooks) | 2875 comments Nope, don't drink coffee. Oh man, Kyra! I hope season 4 is added soon! I only have two episodes left to watch on season 3! Saw your word count, Alex. Nice job!

TPBM has less than an hour and a half to get writing done before babysitting today/night.

message 1098: by M (new)

M | 11617 comments What cold weather?

TPBM is going to have vivid, unsettling dreams tonight.

message 1099: by Stephanie (new)

Stephanie (chasmofbooks) | 2875 comments Not right now but I'm sure I will be later.

TPBM needs to quickly get stuff done so they can write today. I'm so excited!!!!

message 1100: by Guy (new)

Guy (egajd) | 11249 comments I would like for that to be true, and it is, kind of, but only a sort of maybe I hope to be able to make it true kind of way. I guess that means I'm not really a writer!

TPBM baked something with chocolate last night.
