message 854: by Kyra (new)

Kyra (Nikara) | 1221 comments ...Not nessecarily. I'm ahead of a lot of my grade...

TPBM is good at math, but prefers English class.

message 855: by Edward (new)

Edward (edwardtheresejr) | 2434 comments Absolutely. Well, I don't prefer English class, but I do prefer writing to calculating, even though I'm much better at calculations.

TPBM fears fatal viruses over weapons.

message 856: by M (new)

M | 11617 comments Only if I’m up on a ladder.

TPBM had a cream-cheese pastry for breakfast.

message 857: by M (new)

M | 11617 comments No. I’m trying to give up my bad habits.

TPBM has been looking forward to class all weekend.

message 858: by M (new)

M | 11617 comments Definitely! But I’m putting it off as long as possible.

TPBM has an idea for a deja vu story.

message 859: by Edward (new)

Edward (edwardtheresejr) | 2434 comments I did, but then I forgot it. Something about ending in the middle and starting all over again. I might be able to put something together next week; after Wednesday the only class I have to study for is Chemistry.

TPBM enjoys martial arts.

message 860: by M (new)

M | 11617 comments Monday is my favorite day of the week!

TPBM wants to write something Twilight-Zone-ish.

message 861: by C. J., Cool yet firm like ice (new)

C. J. Scurria (goodreadscomcj_scurria) | 4485 comments I have felt like I have been down and kind of depressed but not THAT far!! lol.

TPBM feels dreary because of the weather.

message 862: by Edward (new)

Edward (edwardtheresejr) | 2434 comments No, but I just took one of my worst tests. Damage is finally done, so I can start putting it behind me and focusing on something worth my time.

TPBM loves it when the sun litterally shines through the rain.

message 863: by Edward (new)

Edward (edwardtheresejr) | 2434 comments I hate it when it runs all the time, but a couple episodes a day, when I can actually pay attention to what is happening, is great.

TPBM likes root beer.

message 864: by Kyra (new)

Kyra (Nikara) | 1221 comments No, it's, like, 7:00.

TPBM has state standard testing tomorrow.

message 865: by Edward (last edited Apr 23, 2012 07:22PM) (new)

Edward (edwardtheresejr) | 2434 comments Did someone say standardized testing? *vanishes* *hides*

TPBM ... follows religious dietary rules.

message 866: by Kyra (new)

Kyra (Nikara) | 1221 comments Nope... sorry...

TPBM does not have a religion.

message 867: by Edward (new)

Edward (edwardtheresejr) | 2434 comments I'm Catholic. (Our dietary rules only come up forty days out of the year.) Sorry about what?

TPBM likes yogurt.

message 868: by Kyra (new)

Kyra (Nikara) | 1221 comments Pssh, who would???

TPBM got home early today because of state testing!!!

message 869: by Kyra (new)

Kyra (Nikara) | 1221 comments I switch off. Some days I eat a lot and am very hungry, other days I barely touch my food.

TPBM has a weird digestive system in this sense.

message 870: by [deleted user] (new)

yes!

TPBM has gone dumpster diving.

message 871: by M (last edited Apr 30, 2012 08:28AM) (new)

M | 11617 comments I’ve done my share of dumpster diving! I’ve found stereo systems, phones, furniture. Just yesterday, I found two signed-and-numbered prints in a dumpster. There’s a wonderful essay by Lars Eighner about dumpster diving.

TPBM has had too much caffeine for one morning.

message 872: by Edward (new)

Edward (edwardtheresejr) | 2434 comments Nope; not enough.

TPBM has seen Crossing Jordan.

message 873: by [deleted user] (new)

Crossing Jordan sounds vaguely familiar but I'm not sure.

That's awesome M! Were just found TON of chocolate and cans of soup that were perfectly fine!

TPBM IS SICK OF CHOCOLATE! lol

message 874: by Kyra (new)

Kyra (Nikara) | 1221 comments NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Impossible!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (for me, anyways)

message 875: by Kyra (new)

Kyra (Nikara) | 1221 comments POOR AL!!!!!!!!!!!! But no, I still like life.

TPBM is wondering why Al hates life.

message 876: by Kyra (new)

Kyra (Nikara) | 1221 comments Hmm, no. I like my current living situation. XD Hey, see if you can find a big mansion in Hawaii somewhere. Or Europe. (JK...)

TPBM is ignoring homework to mess around on Goodreads for the time being.

message 877: by M (new)

M | 11617 comments When is a contest ever over when it’s supposed to be? You’ve got plenty of time!

message 878: by M (new)

M | 11617 comments Alex, you’re a great moderator! Fortunately for me, some of the contests have run long, otherwise I wouldn’t have gotten stories posted.

message 879: by M (new)

M | 11617 comments Who are you talking to?

message 880: by M (last edited Apr 30, 2012 05:29PM) (new)

M | 11617 comments Oh, I can’t quit laughing. Alex you’re wonderful! I wouldn’t be surprised if you got married before Hanzle did.

message 881: by M (last edited Apr 30, 2012 05:34PM) (new)

M | 11617 comments Why? I’ve said something I wasn’t supposed to say, but I’m not sure what it was.

message 882: by M (new)

M | 11617 comments You’re awfully young to be feeling that way. I don’t know what advice to give you. What do you consider success?

message 883: by M (last edited Apr 30, 2012 05:45PM) (new)

M | 11617 comments Success happens differently for different people. Jane was working as a drudge at an insurance company. She quit her job and went to South Africa as a missionary. When she got back, she was ready to take the bull by the horns and shake the crap out of him. She went to medical school. M’s success was that he met Jane while she was in medical school and, for reasons he never figured out, she thought he was the one for her. Cherchez la femme.

message 884: by M (new)

M | 11617 comments I hope you find a way to do whatever it is you want to do. Life is full of surprises, and among the biggest (at least, for me) have been that the best things usually happen in what seem the least propitious circumstances.

message 885: by M (new)

M | 11617 comments I was in college for ten years because of what I thought other people wanted. At least you seem to have a sense of direction. All I knew was that I didn’t seem to be good enough at anything to make a decent living. Finally I got so fed up with school that I decided starvation would be more enjoyable.

message 886: by M (last edited Apr 30, 2012 06:30PM) (new)

M | 11617 comments The Canon AE-1 that I have is one of the original ones, made before the programmable kind came out. It takes a 6-volt, silver-oxide battery that was getting hard to find even in the late 1990’s. The programmable version may take a different battery. I don’t recommend using your Mom’s camera. Those were beautiful cameras and a thrill to use. I’ve never owned a digital camera that wasn’t a piece of crap compared to an AE-1.

message 887: by M (last edited Apr 30, 2012 07:08PM) (new)

M | 11617 comments It will probably cost you a lot less to buy another camera than to get yours fixed. They can hardly give many of those cameras away now that film is virtually obsolete. I don’t advise spending much money on a camera that uses film until you research it. Go on eBay and type Canon AE-1 into the search blank and see what comes up. You may be able to get a whole bag--camera, several lenses, filters--for under $100, probably less than what it would cost to get yours fixed.

Edward (edwardtheresejr) | 2434 comments I took this college semester because everyone told me it was a good idea. It wasn't.

This is some childish "adults don't know what their talking about" attitude. It just became flat-out, painfully obvious that I gain no benebit whatsoever from a college education. 1) College is boring. (This is actually an important point; boredom is probably the most dangerous thing in modern culture.) 2) Any job I could get with a degree is a job I wouldn't care enough for to advance in. My prefered career options are all the type that don't require a degree.

Point I'm making is ... people are stupid. Following your own dreams is not the logical choice because they're more likely to succeed, but because they're no more likely to fail. All other things being equal, it makes a lot more sense to fail pursuing your dream, what you think God put you here to do, than to take an equal risk following the advice of someone who has their own life to deal with.

Huh. I put a lot of passion into that. Maybe I shouldn't drink too much ale.

Anyway ... TPBM finds "That's already been done," the most annoying critism.

message 889: by M (last edited May 01, 2012 03:47AM) (new)

M | 11617 comments Don’t forget Jove’s law: no pain, no gain. Suffering isn’t a laudable thing in itself, but there doesn’t appear to be much potential for growth other than by means of it.

I can’t think of anything I like doing that hasn’t been done: drawing, sailing, taking photographs, writing rhyming poetry. This is a PG-13 group, so I won’t mention sex, but just think what a ridiculous put-down “That’s already been done” is to make.

message 890: by M (new)

M | 11617 comments Before writing a story, TPBM usually thinks out what’s going to happen in it.

message 891: by M (new)

M | 11617 comments It wouldn’t be my schedule if it weren’t!

TPBM likes to plan out the whole week down to the smallest detail.

message 892: by Edward (new)

Edward (edwardtheresejr) | 2434 comments No, because I live with three whimsical and non-communicative people. Even when they plan something I usually don't find out until a couple days before or when we're throwing everything into the van.

Then, when I'm setting up a schedule, they give me weird looks when I ask if we're going any where on the days in question.

TPBM enjoys martial arts.

message 893: by M (new)

M | 11617 comments Yes, but that was years ago.

TPBM neglected to have any vegetables for lunch.

TPBM drinks coffee.

message 897: by Kyra (new)

Kyra (Nikara) | 1221 comments Yep!!! Bon Jovi especially.
