message 5701: by Guy (new)

Guy (egajd) | 11249 comments Ambivalently so. I am less interested in the 'official' and 'proper' history that we find in our schools and popular media, than in the unofficial and hidden histories of those who have been conquered and forgotten.

TPBM keeps a dream journal.

message 5702: by C. J., Cool yet firm like ice (new)

C. J. Scurria (goodreadscomcj_scurria) | 4489 comments Only once for school and never again.

TPBM has found history only interesting when they went off on their own (unprovoked by teachers) to read into it once in a while!

message 5703: by Garrison (new)

Garrison Kelly (cybador) | 10185 comments It depends on how far back I'm going and what kind of history it is. I actually consider things that happened in the 80's and 90's to be historical.

TPBM knows that Pink Floyd is a group of people and not just one person.

message 5704: by Guy (new)

Guy (egajd) | 11249 comments I do, although it is now defunct with at least one of its members having been reconstituted into the earth, so to speak.

TPBM likely does not know that The Penguin Cafe Orchestra is not a band situated in the South Pole, although s/he likely guessed that to be the case.

message 5705: by Garrison (new)

Garrison Kelly (cybador) | 10185 comments It'd be nice if they really were penguins, because then I'd want to hug them all! ^_^

TPBM could use a Diet Coke right now.

message 5706: by Guy (new)

Guy (egajd) | 11249 comments LOL! Nope. Diet pops are not for me. (Interesting story: a friend who stopped drinking it a few months before going to her doctor. After the blood work was done, he said to her 'I see you've stopped drinking diet pop.' 'How did you know that?!' she asked. 'I can see it in your blood results.' Although I never liked the taste, so I've not ever drank it.)

TPBM is getting ready to go home after work.

message 5707: by Garrison (new)

Garrison Kelly (cybador) | 10185 comments I'm unemployed, so I'm already home. Hehe!

TPBM fantasizes about being in a musical band, but knows in reality they couldn’t handle the constant traveling.

message 5708: by Angie (new)

Angie Pangan | 4795 comments Ha nope. I don't really enjoy the idea of standing in front of thousands of people, or being recognized everywhere I go. (I'm too introverted for that.) But I do dream that I'll be able to be a mom who can manage kids and a job without neglecting either.

TPBM doesn't like having to make phone calls for adulting purposes (i.e. making appointments, etc.)

message 5709: by Garrison (new)

Garrison Kelly (cybador) | 10185 comments You're talking to a guy who screams in fury every time the phone rings. I'd rather recieve an email.

TPBM believes that creative fuel can come from anywhere at anytime.

message 5710: by Angie (new)

Angie Pangan | 4795 comments Absolutely!

TPBM has to help their parents with technology.

message 5711: by Nadia (new)

Nadia | 690 comments Of course, the world and all that is in it is my muse.

TPBM is sore and tired, yet can't stop thinking of what they are actively participating in tomorrow.

message 5712: by Guy (new)

Guy (egajd) | 11249 comments Nope, I'm not sore and only a little tired.

TPBM would like to listen to Billy Idol sing Rebel Yell

message 5713: by Angie (new)

Angie Pangan | 4795 comments Not particularly. If I wasn't so tired and ready to go to sleep, I would probably click you link and listen to it, but I don't have the energy for it right now.

TPBM already has a list of things that must be done this weekend.

message 5714: by Ruthie (new)

Ruthie (bluephoenix20) | 129 comments Yes, I do. And it has only 3 things: Sleep, Eat, Sleep some more... LOL!

TPBM likes spontaneous outings more than planned vacations.

message 5715: by Garrison (new)

Garrison Kelly (cybador) | 10185 comments Planning things ahead of time gives me a while to mentally prepare for what's to come, so I'd have to disagree with that, Ruthie.

TPBM recently had to suspend one of their creative tasks either due to writer’s block or other unforeseen circumstances.

message 5716: by Angie (new)

Angie Pangan | 4795 comments Not really unforeseen. But I've had to suspend a story I've been working on for a few months because of school and work.

TPBM likes to lie in bed and think about life before getting up in the morning.

message 5717: by Guy (new)

Guy (egajd) | 11249 comments No, oddly enough. I am quick to exit the bed and get to yoga and breakfast!

TPBM finds that yoga before breakfast makes the day work better than if it is deferred to after breakfast. ;-)

message 5718: by Angie (new)

Angie Pangan | 4795 comments I don't do yoga often enough to know.

TPBM is guilty of over analyzing.

message 5719: by Garrison (new)

Garrison Kelly (cybador) | 10185 comments I've done it before, but not so often anymore.

TPBM knows what the French word "degoutant" translates to in English.

message 5720: by Angie (new)

Angie Pangan | 4795 comments Yes,I've taken three years of french in school.

TPBM can get overwhelmed by food options at restaurants.

message 5721: by Garrison (new)

Garrison Kelly (cybador) | 10185 comments Not really. Once I find something I like, I go for it without further hesitation.

TPBM is mature enough not to snicker whenever they hear about someone with the name Gaylord.

message 5722: by Angie (new)

Angie Pangan | 4795 comments I've known enough people with unfortunate last names to know that most of them hate it when people laugh at their names, so yes.

TPBM loves fandom crossovers.

message 5723: by Garrison (new)

Garrison Kelly (cybador) | 10185 comments I sure do! Kingdom Hearts is crossover heaven, although fighting Riku near the end is closer to hell.

TPBM believes the name Daniel Edge is appropriate for a fantasy character who uses stealth and trickery to get what he wants.

message 5724: by Angie (new)

Angie Pangan | 4795 comments Yes, I think that name would work.

TPBM enjoys watching Battlebots.

message 5725: by Garrison (new)

Garrison Kelly (cybador) | 10185 comments I've heard of that show, but I haven't seen a single episode.

TPBM uses the music radio channels on his or her TV to discover new bands and artists.

message 5726: by Angie (new)

Angie Pangan | 4795 comments Nope. I mostly listen to local stations or to Pandora.

TPBM likes to uses ironic names for characters. (i.e. Grace or Charity for a bitter or unforgiving character)

message 5727: by Guy (new)

Guy (egajd) | 11249 comments I don't seem to. Character names may have an intuitive or hide mythological connection, but I don't focus on then being ironical.

TPBM wonders if there is any validity in the kabalarian ideas that the number basis or roots of names really does have an effect on one's successes or failures.

message 5728: by Garrison (new)

Garrison Kelly (cybador) | 10185 comments I don't know if it has a direct effect, but there must be a reason for the Johnny Cash song "A Boy Named Sue".

TPBM prefers physical books over digital ones.

message 5729: by Guy (new)

Guy (egajd) | 11249 comments Yes. Might be a generational thing?

TPBM likes to write in the margins of some books.

message 5730: by Garrison (new)

Garrison Kelly (cybador) | 10185 comments I don't like to write in books as I feel it's a form of vandalism.

TPBM knows what the Spanish term "El Comegente" translates to in English.

message 5731: by C. J., Cool yet firm like ice (last edited Jul 18, 2015 02:00AM) (new)

C. J. Scurria (goodreadscomcj_scurria) | 4489 comments I took Spanish yet had no idea but by the power of Bing translate... Oh Garrison! lol.

TPBM cherishes books but would give a long-loved book away as long as they knew it would end up with someone they think would love it too.

message 5732: by Guy (new)

Guy (egajd) | 11249 comments I do. With those books I look to buy extras and so give them away as many times as I can.

TPBM is just about to get ready to make a simple breakfast.

message 5733: by Jenn (new)

Jenn (ace-geek) I just had cereal.

TPBM woke up tired this morning.

message 5734: by Angie (new)

Angie Pangan | 4795 comments Physically, I'm exhausted. Mentally, I'm doing fine today.

TPBM thinks the physical exhaustion from exercise is worth resulted the mental clarity.

message 5735: by Nadia (last edited Jul 18, 2015 12:18PM) (new)

Nadia | 690 comments Yeah, physical exhaustion often gives me the push I need to keep going. It reminds me that I can be better. It's probably the ballerina in me. All that endurance, perseverance and all manner of lessons learned in a dance studio.

TPBM loves the looseness that they feel after a good workout, but hates the tightness they experience in the hours afterward.

message 5736: by Angie (new)

Angie Pangan | 4795 comments I've never had a problem with the tightness, but in the days after, the soreness can make it hard to move.

TPBM knows people who always talk over a video that THEY want you to watch.

message 5737: by Garrison (new)

Garrison Kelly (cybador) | 10185 comments Luckily, I haven't met anyone like that. I'm pretty much an island when it comes to my You Tube viewing.

When choosing a character’s name, TPBM tries not to choose one where the end of the first name and the beginning of the last name have the same sound (examples include John Knight, Josh Shane, Nick Cain, etc.)

message 5738: by Lee (new)

Lee (lee-lette) | 1840 comments I've never thought about that.

TPBM just got some work done.

message 5739: by Angie (new)

Angie Pangan | 4795 comments If you count baking a batch of chocolate and vanilla marble muffins "work", then yes.

TPBM finds it ironic that if you have to get your car repaired after an accident, you usually end up with a rental car nicer than yours.

message 5740: by Garrison (new)

Garrison Kelly (cybador) | 10185 comments I don't have a car, let alone a driver's license, so I can't relate. However, when I got lost in Seattle with my family and we needed a car, yes, it was much nicer than what we originally had. :)

TPBM sometimes feels like an island in terms of his or her interests and hobbies.

message 5741: by Lee (new)

Lee (lee-lette) | 1840 comments I can't say I have.

TPBM doesn't act his/her age.

message 5742: by Garrison (new)

Garrison Kelly (cybador) | 10185 comments Even though I'm 30 years old, I still have Legos on my bookshelf, a Mario keychain, a Mario calendar, and heavy metal posters on my wall. You be the judge.

TPBM’s favorite flavor of milkshake is cookies and cream.

message 5743: by Lee (new)

Lee (lee-lette) | 1840 comments Believe it or not I've never had a milkshake.

TPBM constantly ponders why people do dangerous things just for the sake of being called spontaneous.

message 5744: by Guy (new)

Guy (egajd) | 11249 comments Not constantly, but on the occasion when it is bright to my attention. (But I also find it inspiring to see just how amazing the human mind and body van be when it is working together in perfect harmony.)

TPBM prefers watching quiet sports instead of noisy ones.

message 5745: by Garrison (new)

Garrison Kelly (cybador) | 10185 comments Pro-wrestling and mixed-martial arts don't exactly qualify as quiet sports, but silence in general is a good idea from time to time.

TPBM would chill out on a double-decker couch if it actually existed outside of The Lego Movie.

message 5746: by Angie (new)

Angie Pangan | 4795 comments Yes I would. And I've actually see college students convert bunk beds into bunk couches, if you'd like to give it a try yourself.

TPBM loves innovative and unconventional furniture.

message 5747: by Garrison (new)

Garrison Kelly (cybador) | 10185 comments Ever since watching The Lego Movie, I'd have to agree. Hell, there are pictures circulating on Face Book of reading chairs with actual spaces to hold books. I want one!

TPBM believes a good name for a yellow kitty is Mac (which is short for Mac & Cheese).

message 5748: by Lee (new)

Lee (lee-lette) | 1840 comments It could be a nice name if I had a YELLOW kitty.

TPBM is sleepy.

message 5749: by Garrison (new)

Garrison Kelly (cybador) | 10185 comments Not just physically sleepy, but mentally sluggish. I didn't want to get any creative work done today.

TPBM knows that the terms “zesty” and “tangy” are advertising words and not ones normal human beings use in everyday conversation.

message 5750: by Lee (new)

Lee (lee-lette) | 1840 comments Yes.The only people who use them are the really old-fashioned parents who are trying to be overly hip.

TPBM is hungry.

[Goodnight Garrison, I can't fight the sleep any longer. So 'see' ya tomorrow :) ]
