Valorie I finished Night of the Wolves by Heather Graham by Heather Graham. It was ok, nothing to spectacular. I just started Rumble on the Bayou by Jana Deleon by Jana Deleon.

Try Audible.com. They're not free, but they're worth the price.

It's about $10 a book if you buy book credits in bulk.

The Flooze (the_flooze) | 179 comments Just finished Rosemary and Rue and it's definitely not a book for those who like to unravel the mystery along with the protagonist. There was an awful lot of running around while getting shot at, and very few clues to unravel. Disappointing.

I've had bad luck lately! I'm hoping Harry pulls me out of my slump with Blood Rites.

I'll keep that in mind lol. I actually have a box of books that I don't want. I'll probably use them as credit or trade at a used book store. What I really need is another book case.
I started Dead Until Dark today, and I'm having trouble seperating the book from the show in my head. It's becoming quite distracting.

message 63: by Valorie (new)

Valorie I finished Rumble on the Bayou by Jana Deleon by Jana Deleon and really enjoyed it. It was a cute, funny, adventurous romantic suspense/mystery/chick-lit story. I'm now starting on Dream Chaser (Dark-Hunter, #15 and/or Dream-Hunters #3) by Sherrilyn Kenyon .

message 64: by Natacha (new)

Natacha (tacha) | 9 comments I picked up several books at the library and right now I'm reading Night World books #1-3 by L.J. Smith - so far so good. Also picked up Rampant (Killer Unicorns #1) which was reccommended to me and I bought Hourglass, not realizing it's the 3rd book of the Evernight series - now I have to go pick up books 1-2 before I read it!

message 65: by Lisa M (new)

Lisa M | 311 comments I finished Silver Borne (Mercedes Thompson, #5) by Patricia Briggs today. Loved it! I haven't found a Mercy book that I haven't loved yet. :)

I'll start Breath and Bone (Lighthouse, #2) by Carol Berg (next book in my reading challenge) either today or tomorrow. I usually love traditional fantasy, but I'm really wanting to finish up more of the Dresden books. I hope I can get into it. :P

You didn't like Rosemary and Rue? I loved it. It is a little tedious in places because it's a first book of a series. If you have time, you should try the second of the series A Local Habitation-it is more mystery orientated and it has a little more Tybalt :D

I read ROSEMARY & RUE last fall and wasn't crazy about it either. Thought it was mostly just okay.

message 69: by Carolyn F. (new)

Carolyn F. I enjoyed Rosemary and Rue myself. I kept putting off starting it and then read it not expecting to like it very much. Usually when I come in with low expectations, I end up enjoying the book more. I'm reading A Local Habitation in May.

message 70: by Crystal (new)

Crystal (crys25) | 90 comments I think you'll enjoy it. I can't wait for the next one in September-seems like a long time away. I do know she has another book coming out under a psuedonym-Mira Grant. I think it's supposed to be a horror/political thriller novel centering around zombies.

Started Mind Games (The Disillusionists Trilogy, #1) by Carolyn Crane this morning. Hopefully, I'll have better luck.

Amy Gordon (katdragon) | 24 comments Becca wrote: I'll keep that in mind lol. I actually have a box of books that I don't want. I'll probably use them as credit or trade at a used book store.

You could always set your book free with http://www.bookcrossing.com or sign up to http://www.bookmooch.com since second-hand bookstores may not give you a great deal.

What I really need is another book case.

I have the same problem - I can't fit another bookcase in my room so I found a different solution. I appropriated a bathroom stand from my bathroom similar to this: http://www.bathroom-trends.co.uk/acat... and put white cardboard on the bottom of each level to protect the book from the metal ridges. I can now put the books in so that they face the front and others face the side to use up the available space.

I started Dead Until Dark today, and I'm having trouble seperating the book from the show in my head. It's becoming quite distracting. "

And that's why I don't watch shows where they use the book as a basis unless I've been told it's really good. I began watching True Blood but gave up because they did about a quarter of one book per season and I got impatient.

On the topic of swapping books....
http://www.instantfundas.com/2009/01/...

I'm in Australia and have the same problem. I haven't investigated all of these sites but hopefully some of them will be Aussie/NZ friendly.

Edit: http://www.titletrader.com/ does international and local shipping.

Actually season one was DEAD UNTIL DARK, not just a quarter of it. However, I'm not quite sure what season 2 was! It wasn't LIVING DEAD DALLAS, except for bits & pieces. I'm hoping season 3 is more like CLUB DEAD, but even it it's not it's fun to watch!

Amy Gordon (katdragon) | 24 comments Melodie wrote:Actually season one was DEAD UNTIL DARK

Ah, sorry about that. I wasn't sure since I only watched the first two episodes and they did about a chapter in those (in my reckoning at least) so I expanded that into the series.

I read on Charlaine Harris' website that she's totally fine with the telling of her stories taking a different road. When I watch the shows, I just enjoy them as a good show.

So do I, but CLUB DEAD was a pretty good book and seeing it on the screen wouldn't be a bad proposition!

message 83: by Becca (new)

Becca (goblinfan) | 215 comments I finished Dead Until Dark today, and after sticking with it I managed to seperate it from the show in my head. And I'd say the last quarter of the book was a lot different from the show. I'm looking forward to reading the next book, though it'll have to wait.
Started reading Firespell yesterday waiting for Barnes and noble to open, and so far so good.

Thanks for the suggestions Amy. There are several used book stores that my dad and I go to throughout the summer, where I plan to trade my books for store credit. If I don't find anything, I can pass the credit along to other members of my family. One place in particular is Northwood Books in Chambersburg, Pa, for anyone thats interested, and lives in that area.
I've actually been thinking about swaping my bed out for a fold down couch/futon thingy so I can put book cases along the walls where my bed is currently.

message 85: by Amy (new)

Amy Gordon (katdragon) | 24 comments No problem Becca. Does your bed have space underneath it? I store some of my books in a plastic container that I can wheel out from under my bed.

Becca (goblinfan) | 215 comments Amy wrote: "No problem Becca. Does your bed have space underneath it? I store some of my books in a plastic container that I can wheel out from under my bed."

Thats what my dad does with his books, whenever he switches phases from WWII to Civil War. I've considered it, but I have a heat register underneathe the bed, and I'm afraid of what the heat would do to the books. Also my cat likes to sleep under there, and he would undoubtly chew on any corner or edge he'd find. I swear, he's the window licker of cats. I may be able to rig it so I won't have to worry about those two problems. Thanks for the suggestion again. I think it might work. Thank you!

Oh, I just had another idea. The Reject Shop/Cunningham's Warehouse/other cheap shops have canvas shelves that you can hang inside your cupboard to put your clothes and shoes in. (like this: http://www.spacesavers.com/hanging-sh...).

I'm not sure how many books you could put in there since I use mine for shoes but it may be something to look at (as long as your cat doesn't get in there first).

The Nightside is one of my favorite series. You gotta love a series that has characters like Susie Shotgun, Razor Eddie the Punk God of the Straight Razor and Dead Boy!
