Valorie I finished The Unsung Hero (Troubleshooters, #1) by Suzanne Brockmann it started out a little slow for me but it was still pretty good. I'm now reading Tempting the Beast (Breeds, #1) by Lora Leigh and Devour (Institut Scientifique, #1) by Melina Morel

Chelsea (vampirebookclub) | 45 comments After a couple flights this week, I finished Wings (Wings, #1) by Aprilynne Pike and have just started The Iron King (Iron Fey, #1) by Julie Kagawa .

The Iron King is definitely not what I expected, but in a really good way. I'm already falling in love with this book.

message 308: by Paula (new)

Paula (pauldajo) I finished listening to Practical Magic and am currently listening to Alanna: The First Adventure which I read years ago.

message 309: by Julia (new)

Julia | 615 comments I am starting Kitty's House of Horrors. Just finished this Ray Bradbury's Fahrenheit 451: The Authorized Adaptation. It was wonderful to reread this as a graphic novel!

message 310: by Dija (new)

Dija Almost finished with Nightfall (The Vampire Diaries The Return, #1) by L.J. Smith What the hell is wrong with every male in this book??? Elena's not as awesome as everyone's making her out to be! Damon suits Bonnie so much better.

Becca (goblinfan) | 215 comments Finished Strange Brew and started Nightlife by Rob Thurman.

This is probably the worst book I've read, meaning finished, in the last 2 or 3 years. A TOTAL train wreck!!

message 313: by TheThirdLie (last edited Jun 29, 2010 11:22AM) (new)

TheThirdLie I keep starting and dropping books so I just picked up the third Cal Leandros book and am reading that now. I was trying to space this series out so it would last longer, but it's not working.

message 314: by Tiffany (new)

Tiffany | 3 comments I'm finishing Ballad Ballad A Gathering of Faerie (Books of Faerie, #2) by Maggie Stiefvater . I really like it.

message 315: by TheThirdLie (new)

TheThirdLie I don't know what it is about the Cal Leandros series, but I am absolutely in love with it. Just finished #3, Madhouse, and it was good. Ended on a cliffhanger though... #4 is on my list of books to read for Challenge 2 as well. I may have to start reading it.

Actually, there's no way I can't read it. I'm sure it'll be the same case when I finish #4 and when I finish #5... I will be depressed as there will be no more to read until the next novel is released. [assuming #5 isn't the last:]

That series is such a disaster. I would hate a book and then like the next one okay, then hate the next one, and so on. If this one's not good, I'm not going to waste my money on it.

I read the series when it first came out and I was a young teen. LOVED IT! Swore I was going to find myself a man just like Damon and live happily ever after.

I tried to re-read the series a year ago and thought it was, umm, not that great and kind of boring. But the same thing happened when I tried to re-read the Twilight books.

Oh well. They were good the first time around. :)

I agree about the Twilight books. I wanted to re-read each one before it's movie came out, but I couldn't get through them. I had to listen to them on audiobook to make it through.

Becca (goblinfan) | 215 comments Finished Nightlife today, and though I'm not going nuts over it I did like it. I might read the next in the series before I make up my mind on it. I don't know, I guess this is just one of those books where I'm stuck on the fence.

I have no idea how Thurman did it, but I love the characters in this series. To the point where I care for them, feel for them. It's absurd. There are flaws in these books, but the way I feel for the characters surpasses that beyond any reason.

I just finished up the fourth book, Deathwish and I loved it as well. There were a lot of things repeated [stuff the characters were thinking:] in this one so it made for a bit of a repetitive read, but again my love for the characters blinded me to that - well, I noticed it so it didn't blind me, but it sure as heck made me not care about it.

I'd start on the fifth novel, but I need a break from the emotional roller coaster this series is able to throw me on.

Now, I'll work on my Dystopian novel - We by Yevgeny Zamyatin. If I can't get into it I'll start in on Atlus Shrugged or Wheel of Time #1 since they are beefy and shouldn't be put off till the end of the challenge.

I haven't read a Mercy book yet that I haven't loved. It's probably my favorite series right now. :)

Darcy,
Just to warn you, I thought [book:Devour|2066914] was terrible! I couldn't even finish it, and it takes a lot for me not to finish a book. Good luck with it!

message 330: by Valorie (last edited Jul 03, 2010 03:09PM) (new)

Valorie I'm about half way through Insatiable by Meg Cabot and I'm really not that impressed. It's ok, but not great or even good. Just ok.

Good to know. I will go in with low expectations then and hopefully I will like it then.

Darcy (sunnytat462) | 822 comments So, the group of books I had been planning on reading were mostly stinkers and I gave up 3 out of the 4. I am hoping the next ones I have will fare better, here they are.

Dark Nights, Dark Dreams (Sisterhood of the Sight, #1) by Savannah Russe Drawn Into Darkness (Soul Gatherer, #1) by Annette McCleave Low Red Moon by Caitlín R. Kiernan

message 337: by Becca (new)

Becca (goblinfan) | 215 comments I started and finished Kitty and the Silver Bullet, and Hunted by the Others by Jess Haines. I thought it was pretty good, especially for the first in a series. I'm looking forward to the second book, just not the wait. Not sure what to start next.

TheThirdLie ... I can't wait for the next Dresden book. *sigh*

Finished up Unperfect Souls by Mark Del Franco, it's the fourth in the Connor Grey series. I enjoy this series, but wish it would get away from the politics for a book or so.

Now I'm starting up Eye of the World by Robert Jordan, book one in the Wheel of Time series. Third book for the reading challenge. @_@

I've actually already read some of the Nightside series, Hex And The City (#4) being the last one I read. I just love them, John Taylor is an awesome character. So far I like anything I've read by Simon R. Green; ever since reading Blue Moon Rising I've been hooked. I really like that there are some genuinely creepy moments in the Nightside books, along with humor. They are just fun books to get into.

The Romance Reviews (Carole) (The_Romance_Reviews) | 8 comments I just finished Lover Enshrined. It's good, if you're not looking for the romance between the main characters. Definitely moved the series forward to ultra-exciting!

I'm already looking forward to reading the third, Phantasm.
