In print, I'm afraid, so I'll miss out on the much-praised narration! Found a cheap copy on the internet, since no library around here seems to have any of them.

Vicky Hall i'm reading "guilty pleasures" by Laurell k. hamilton im about 2/3 through it and im still confused if i like it or not im finding it quite easy to read but i dont think the story itself grips me

Ooh! Across the Universe! I hope you like it! I loved it, but Brigid, on the other hand, had some major issues with the characters and plot. I think she still enjoyed it, though!

As for me, I finished Heartless (Pretty Little Liars, #7) by Sara Shepard last night, started Wanted (Pretty Little Liars, #8) by Sara Shepard and finished it during 3rd hour today! Both were amazing, and I'd reccomend them to all! So I started reading Feed (Newsflesh, #1) by Mira Grant and Private (Private, #1) by Kate Brian ! I think I'll probably finish Private first, because it's way shorter and the has a more gripping beginning!

I really like The PLL Series. I do want to read the new book (out in July) but I am afraid that (if she keeps going) they are going to start to suck. I am just not sure how much longer she can drag out the story.

Seth (ninjaaaaaofwritingbooks) | 240 comments I tend to agree, Rebecca. Like . . . I'm kinda excited, but I thought that the story was pretty much summed up after the 4th book. And as much as I loved 5-8, they were all just kinda . . . forced. Especially Wanted. (view spoiler) But I'm glad that they're friends now! Twisted should be interesting. Honestly, I hope Ali's dead. Does that sound mean? :P

I actually knew what they ending of the 8th book a few hours before I got it in the mail and I didn't even want to read it it seemed too... soap opera-y (view spoiler)
But I read it and I did enjoy it but only because I care about the characters already so I want to know what happens. So I am going to read the 9th one but I hope it doesn't include more overly dramatic stuff.

message 957: by Seth (new)

Seth (ninjaaaaaofwritingbooks) | 240 comments I . . . had read some reviews so I kinda guessed about few of the major plot points. But I didn't know how it all connected together, so it was still somewhat of a surprise for me. I enjoyed the book a lot, it was probably the most addicting of them all, I just wish she'd have done something different. Nonetheless, I'm excited about Twisted. Have you read her new book? I've heard it's pretty good.

it is one of the books I am currently reading- I bought a bunch of books and started some of them at once- but I want to get through a few of the others books I started first (I have 2 or 3 books to read first but I read pretty quickly)

Seth (ninjaaaaaofwritingbooks) | 240 comments I have it somewhere on my Nook--and I plan to read it after my next batch! It sounds pretty interesting. And it's in first-person! I wonder if her writing style will dramatically change.

I plan on going back and reading them (I really enjoyed the first book). I have so many books on my TBR list. I have like over 20 unread books in my apartment.

Hi. I'm Tatyana and I'm new to Goodreads. I am a book nut!I just finished Butterfly by Jodi Bullock. It's actually written by my friend's aunt, so I kind of HAD to read it, but I really, REALLY loved it. Didn't want it to end. Love, love LOVED the characters. I'm going to choose my next book from one of your posts! Thank you!!

message 969: by Seth (new)

Seth (ninjaaaaaofwritingbooks) | 240 comments I'm reading Invitation Only (Private, #2) by Kate Brian , the second Private book! Even though I should be reading Feed (Newsflesh, #1) by Mira Grant :/

message 970: by Kristina (new)

Kristina (kristinalawhead) ooh Seth I LOVE the Private series!!! The prequels are just as good too! And the Privilege spinoff :)

message 971: by Seth (new)

Seth (ninjaaaaaofwritingbooks) | 240 comments Yeah they're really fun! But I've heard they get weird when it's all magic-y (not that magic is bad, just that it's random cuz the first twelve are realistic fiction). Yeah, I have the first Privlege book on my nook. When do you think I'll be able to read it? Like, after what book in the Private series?

message 972: by [deleted user] (new)

I'm almost halfway through The Host (The Host, #1) by Stephenie Meyer . It was a slow start but I've become quite attached to Wanderer, Jamie and Jeb.

I love The Host! I agree the beginning is slow, but it gets good about halfway through.

message 975: by Thalia (new)

Thalia (thaliaanderson) The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde.
Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck.

Just finished Avalon High by Meg Cabot.

I was not as into Avalon High as other Meg Cabot books Thalia, but I seem to be in the minority as it gets good reviews on here.

And now I am reading The Tiger's Wife by Téa Obreht

How was Abandon Brigid??

message 979: by Brigid ✩ (new)

Brigid ✩ | 2471 comments Mod
It was alright, but I didn't think it was her best ... I didn't realize it was part of a series (THIS ALWAYS HAPPENS TO MEEEE!) so the whole time I was like, "Huh, this is kinda slow ... I wonder how she's going to tie it all up in the end." And then it was all TO BE CONTINUED. *sigh* Also, I didn't feel like the romance was developed quite enough; the guy really didn't show up all that often, and whenever he did he just seemed creepy to me. :/

Although now that I realize it's a trilogy, I could see it possibly getting better. But, as a standalone it was decent-but-not-great.

message 980: by Heidi (new)

Heidi | 6961 comments Mod
I think I will skip it for now Brigid. Thanks. I can't add anymore series to my current ones!

message 981: by Brigid ✩ (new)

Brigid ✩ | 2471 comments Mod
Sounds like a good plan. *sighs* There are too many series! I can't keep track of them all! Aaccckk!

message 982: by Thalia (new)

Thalia (thaliaanderson) @Heidi: Well, I've only read one other Meg Cabot book and I really didn't like it at all. But I'm a huge Arthurian geek, so I just appreciated the fact an author took that and helped make something modern out of it while sticking to the facts!

(well, mostly, hahah).

message 983: by Heidi (new)

I like Meg. She is cheesy, but sometimes that is what is needed.

message 984: by Brigid ✩ (new)

Brigid ✩ | 2471 comments Mod
Thalia, I didn't like Avalon High much either, but I like a lot of her other books. I think she's better at the realistic fiction genre. I agree with Heidi ... she does write pretty cheesy stuff, but it's fun to read!

message 985: by Thalia (new)

Thalia (thaliaanderson) @Brigid: I read like, Princess Diaries volume three or something; just found it at Goodwill when I was a little younger. So, until now, I just avoided a lot of her stuff since I didn't like PD. I'll probably more of her other stuff now though, since I'm thinking it was probably just the one book I read that I didn't like.

message 986: by Heidi (new)

Heidi | 6961 comments Mod
The PD series was up and down Thalia. I enjoyed it overall, but Mia could be whiny at times. I listen to most of Meg's books on audio and I think that helps.

I haven't read The Princess Diaries, so … I dunno how it compares.

I think my favorite of hers is All-American Girl. :)

message 988: by Arphaxad (new)

Arphaxad | 19 comments I'm not a fan of most of Meg's stuff, given the amount of cheesiness/girliness. My two exceptions to that, though, are the Mediator series and the Missing series, which I find pretty hilarious (and like Heidi said - sometimes a little cheese is what's needed!)

I really liked the Missing series. I have read most of her stand alone novels and enjoyed them (Teen Idol I found to be ok although I really liked the premise). I read a few PD books but then I sort of stopped caring and stopped buying them.

message 992: by Sarah (new)

Now I'm reading Revolution and Matched. Revolution's bugging me though; the protagonist bothers me.

Oh yeah, I read the first Mediator book and never got around to reading the others ... but it was good. What are the Missing series? Is that the 1-800-Where-R-U ones? Because I read a couple of those, also.
