Eep. I lurve Delirium.

Seth (ninjaaaaaofwritingbooks) | 240 comments One thing that's always irked me about Hunger Games (the second time I read it--I didn't care/notice such things the first time I read it) was her writing. It wasn't bad. But it wasn't . . . memorable, either, you know? Sorry. Random comment.

I don't like her writing, either. Too many fragments. Like, one every. Two. Sentences.

Heidi | 6961 comments Mod
Yet you two love Mortal Instruments. I seriously don't get it. Her writing is not any better IMO.

message 1108: by Seth (new)

Seth (ninjaaaaaofwritingbooks) | 240 comments I do love MI! But I also loved Hunger Games and Catching Fire! (I could probably kill Mockingjay.) I can see where you're coming from--I've always found Cassandra Clare's writing not-so-amazing. Not that's it's bad, just . . . not great.

Seth (ninjaaaaaofwritingbooks) | 240 comments Yes, yes :D I love it, Heidi! :D

Lauren, I once tried to read Crash. In like third grade. And stopped. Kinda a boring book.

Sooo. I'm either reading The Reckoning (Darkest Powers, #3) by Kelley Armstrong or The Gathering (Darkness Rising, #1) by Kelley Armstrong right now (kinda given up on Lies (Gone, #3) by Michael Grant for now). Which should I read first, The Reckoning or The Gathering?

im reading the gathering right now and i like it a lot but the reckoning is really good also tough decision lol

message 1114: by Rolenda (new)

Rolenda (len12) | 89 comments I just finished Delirium (Delirium, #1) by Lauren Oliver yesterday... Aww man! I love and hate it at the same time! It was tragic! For a minute i'm all stiff and excited, then all of a sudden its as if something sucked all the energy out of my body, then i started pounding on my bed asking "Why?? Why??!" And to torture myself a bit more, I reread that last part (as if rereading would change the ending) Hah!..

But i need to move on so i statred Water for Elephants by Sara Gruen I hope it's good.

I think I'm just gunna read the Reckoning first, then the Gathering.

Rolenda- IK!!! I actually thought it was a lovely ending, however.

I don't love Cassandra Clare's writing style either. It's very wordy.
But unlike Hunger Games, I actually find the plot logical and compelling, and I genuinely care about the characters. That's why I like them.

I read Crash in one sitting ... but I hated it. I agree, it was rather dull.
Seetthhh you should read The Reckoning first! Of course, I don't know which is better since I haven't read The Gathering yet...

I love Water for Elephants as well. Hope you enjoy it!

Brandi I'm starting Before I Fall by Lauren Oliver .

message 1123: by Sarkan (new)

Sarkan I am currently reading Montana 1948, it's a very interesting book, but only 147 pages long, meaning it won't take me long to read at all :( hehe

message 1124: by Rolenda (new)

Rolenda (len12) | 89 comments Seth - I was just depressed by the ending, but all in all, I loved it more than I hated it. ^_~

Brigid - Hope so too! :D At first it's kinda slow but it's getting good.

Tori (rockerchick1234) | 60 comments finished The Gathering (Darkness Rising, #1) by Kelley Armstrong it was amazing Kelley Armstrong is one of my faviorit YA authors by far

message 1126: by Seth (new)

Seth (ninjaaaaaofwritingbooks) | 240 comments <3 Kelley Armstrong. I decided to read the Reckoning first, and it's so dang amazing! But I'm really, really excited to see how the series connect. Because it doesn't seem like they are very similar, does it?

Brandi- I REALLY NEED TO READ THAT BOOK. It has a Groundhod-Day plot and was written by Lauren Oliver, who writes so lovely! :D

Rolenda- I think it just opened so many doors for the other two books. And that's why I loved it :D Also, I think it would be a great ending for a stand-alone novel, too.

I wanna read Before I Fall very badly, too...

Yay and yay! Alanna is somewhat middle grade at first but she matures a lot during the series.

Kourtni (kourkyloo) | 732 comments I know! I was a bit surprised when I started reading by how simple the writing is, but I am really enjoying the story nevertheless!

Kristina (kristinalawhead) Kourtni what did you think of North of Beautiful? I have it but haven't read it yet!

message 1137: by Kourtni (new)

Kourtni (kourkyloo) | 732 comments I really liked it. While its not my usual cup of tea, it held my attention really well for not being the action packed fantasy that I would usually read. LoL. The message it sends is good and I really liked and felt for the main characters and enjoyed seeing them grow.

*butts in* I am a little psycho for North of Beautiful because I think it sends a great message to young girls about loving yourself and being confident. I thought about my 15 year old niece a lot when I read it as she is so unsure of herself just like the protaganist.

I love North of Beautiful! And one of the reasons I liked it so much was because it really surprised me. I thought it was going to be another silly cheesy romance story, and it was so much more than that. What Heidi said––it has such a great message. :)

I loved North of Beautiful. Glad I listened to Heidi on that one. Hehe.

I picked up Last Sacrifice (Vampire Academy, #6) by Richelle Mead and Magic Bites (Kate Daniels, #1) by Ilona Andrews from the library yesterday. Yay! It kills me that I am still reading Branded (Fall of Angels #1) by Keary Taylor because I really want to finish the VA series. DH has been wanting to finish the series too but I refused to buy Last Sacrifice for the Kindle because it is $10.99. He is just a little envious that I got the library book before him. :)

message 1144: by Kristina (new)

Kristina (kristinalawhead) Thanks Kourtni, Heidi, Brigid AND Shannen lol I will definitely read it here soon then.

If I were going to start a new series today, should I start House of Night or Mortal Instruments?

message 1145: by [deleted user] (new)

Mortal Instruments!

message 1146: by Kristina (new)

Kristina (kristinalawhead) Okay! Now that I know Jamie Campbell Bower is going to be in it I'm much more interested to read the books

Now that I've grown more used to the idea, I'm happy. Also, Cassandra Clare seems really excited about it, so that's what matters if you ask me. :)
He can always buff up for the role, I suppose...
