I usually read one book in bed, and one book in the day time. rarely have any problems with that.

Both .

Kristen I normally have 1 kindle book, 1 print book, and 2 audiobooks going at the same time!! I find that mixing up the genre's helps so I normally have a YA, cozy mystery, and general fiction book going so I don't confuse them too much :)

wow, Heidi! That's a lot of book going on.

I usually just have an audio and a book going on.

I'm impressed! I can do non-fiction and fiction at the same time, usually something in history on the latter, but I can't even mix up a fiction of the same historical context and a nonfiction before I start getting muddled. lol

Donna (BookDragonGirl) (bookdragongirl) Kristen, Strings is by David Estes and it's a sci-fi retelling of the fairytale Pinocchio!! So far I'm loving it!!! Strings by David Estes

i decided to dnf pnpnz. only because it became a bit tedious and I really need a book to occupy my mind right now.

Don't be too impressed! With my pokey ways lately it would probably be better to only have one going at a time!

Dixie Minor | 276 comments I can't wait to read more of the Lunar series. Since I've just read the one, (Cinder), I have a LOT to look forward to. I just read Death of a Travelling Man (Hamish Macbeth, #9) by M.C. Beaton and enjoyed it! I tend to pick up this series whenever I need a "cozy" book; I find it so diverting and comforting and it had been a HARD couple of weeks. My husband had surgery, and my dad, who is 88, had some health stuff, and, well. That book saw me through a couple of days! Now I am reading None of the Above by I.W. Gregorio , which is really good so far! I will be interested to see who my favorite Lunar character is, after hearing you guys all pick! :)

message 9813: by Kristen (new)

Kristen Taber | 506 comments Started Cress (The Lunar Chronicles, #3) by Marissa Meyer and I'm already liking this much better. Unlike Scarlet, I'm having a really hard time putting it down.

Yay! Thorne is the star of that one and therefore it was AWESOME!

Caedy Eries (karida) | 26 comments Aww Kristen *huggles to your lil one* When kids are sick it's always sad :(

I am currently in the midst of The Bourbon Kings (The Bourbon Kings, #1) by J.R. Ward and Dumplin' by Julie Murphy . Surprisingly for me, both are in physical copies...and I've got no Kindle books going...I think I might die of shock (though hands are still behaving so I'm taking advantage while it lasts).

message 9818: by Kristen (new)

Kristen Taber | 506 comments Thanks, Caedy. How is the JR Ward book? My sister has been trying to get me to read her Black Dagger Brotherhood series, but I don't care for vampire stories. if The Bourbon Kings is good, I'll have something to discuss with her :).

message 9819: by Heidi (new)

Heidi | 6961 comments Mod
I was going to ask Caedy about the book as well because it appears to be hit or miss with my GR friends.

Kristen- I am not into vampires and very prudish when it comes to books but I seriously loved the first 7 or 8 Black Dagger Brotherhood books. They were over the top - very racy- and cheesy but for some reason I couldn't get enough of them for awhile. I listened to them on audiobook and used to get read faced in the car thinking my fellow commuters could hear them!! hahaha

message 9820: by Kristen (new)

Kristen Taber | 506 comments LOL! That's hilarious :). I've just always hated vampires for no reason I can figure out, with the exception of the Lost Boys and Angel. One day I'll have to check out BDB, at the least because it will make my sister happy (though she did highly recommend Outlander and that was a DNF for me, so we'll see).

message 9821: by Heidi (new)

Heidi | 6961 comments Mod
I agree with you on Outlander. That was waaaaay too long. The BDB books are fun as long as your expectations are low, which it sounds like is not an issue for you :)

My husband is doing well now, and should be fine, and my dad, although in a decline, at age 88, is doing ok right now, too. I am going to spend some time with him this afternoon. :) Thank you, Heidi!

Yesterday I finished our group read:

Bone Gap by Laura Ruby

It was definitely an unusual book, haha. I liked that it was unique/surreal, and there were some cool twists that I didn't see coming. I found some parts a little hard to follow, but I guess I can talk about that more in the discussion thread! Over all it was a cool book. Thanks for recommending it, Jenny! :)

Now I am reading:

Fun Home A Family Tragicomic by Alison Bechdel

Because I'm going to see the musical on Broadway this weekend! And this also goes towards my 10-graphic-novels challenge for the year. ;) Loving it so far!

The musical won a few Tonys last summer, and when I first heard about the musical, that's when I did the research and found out it was based on the graphic novel, then tracked it down and read it. It's essentially the story of a girl coming to terms with her sexuality; it also involves her closeted father. Very interesting.

message 9833: by Heidi (new)

Heidi | 6961 comments Mod
Ahhh thanks Ashley. I don't keep up on that stuff like I should :)

message 9834: by Ashley Marie (new)

Ashley Marie No worries! That's what I'm for ;) I was reading the book while waiting for one of our community shows to start, not long after the Tonys, and an older woman sat down next to me, glanced over at it and said "well it looks like you're reading something intellectual" with a LOAD of sarcasm. Like, I know it's a graphic novel and therefore looks like a "comic book" or something kids would read, but I just snapped back with "Actually, yeah, it's fascinating. The adaptation just won a bunch of Tonys" and she shut the hell up so fast LOL.

Omg some people are so rude! :P It's beautifully written from what I've read of it, so it makes me sad someone would assume it was stupid just because it's a graphic novel.

Kristen Taber | 506 comments Ashley, I have to laugh at that story. Don't judge a book by its cover, right? Some people are so narrow minded.

Kristen Taber | 506 comments Finished Cress (The Lunar Chronicles, #3) by Marissa Meyer and just.... wow. This is by far my favorite in the series so far.

Glad I bought Winter (The Lunar Chronicles, #4) by Marissa Meyer , even if it is hardcover, which I rarely do. The idea of waiting to read the next is making my skin want to jump from my body. Tomorrow :).

Ha! It's catching up with me though. I got about 100 pages into Winter and realized I'm getting sick of the characters. I think I'll switch to something else before finishing, or I may wind up rating Winter lower than it deserves just from saturation.

Yeah Kristen - that is one of the good things about reading the books as they came out. I was so happy to get back to the characters and world since it had been awhile. Sometimes when I read a series straight through I lose that excited feeling.

I meant to, but didn't like the price. I need to see if it's at the library.
