Donna (BookDragonGirl) (bookdragongirl) So glad you're enjoying the Lunar Cnronicles Kristen!! It's my favorite series! My favorite book is Scarlet, and my favorite characters are Cinder and Wolf. I'm envious that you're enjoying that first time thrill of reading them! I could read them over and over, and still love them, but there's nothing like the first time experience!! I read Fairest after Cress, and I highly recommend reading it before Winter!! Enjoy!! :)

Kristen, I will definitely need that support group when I finish Winter! I've been putting off finishing it for so long because I don't want it to be over. :P

But OMG I DIDN'T KNOW ABOUT THE COMIC BOOKS??? That's so exciting!

Also really looking forward to her next series (the Alice in Wonderland ones)!

I'm curious about those graphic novels.

just finished...
The 5th Wave (The 5th Wave, #1) by Rick Yancey
I'm not that impressed, not as much as The Monstrumologist. I will continue with the series tho. Probably wait for the last one to come to finish the series.

Currently listening to...
Bone Gap by Laura Ruby

2 things a) heartless is as far as I know a standalone b) her next series comes out next year and is the start of a trilogy with superhereos.
Which, yeayyy :D

@Bluemoon - I felt the same way about The 5th Wave, Bluemoon. It was a big disappointment after I'd loved The Monstrumologist so much. Didn't feel like the same author at all!

I'm also about to start Bone Gap!

@Oda - Oh okay! I thought it was a series, but that's cool that it's a standalone. And omg I'm excited to hear about the superhero trilogy––that sounds awesome. :)

I despise clowns at the best of times, too /shudders
Really surprised how many feels the ending gave me, SK writes friendships/relationships/kids/growing up better than most and I really don't think he gets enough credit for it
Time to go rewatch the movie! (Okay maybe not, since I just watched it a few months ago) There's only so much Pennywise I can handle O.O

I'm interested to see what you think of that one! I'm also curious how it translates into audio since the book is so visual.

Donna (BookDragonGirl) (bookdragongirl) I'm reading Forever (The Wolves of Mercy Falls, #3) by Maggie Stiefvater and Queen of Shadows (Throne of Glass, #4) by Sarah J. Maas
I'm disappointed in Queen of Shadows, so far. I'm about 20% in and am not liking any of the characters anymore. I hope things get better, because up till now I loved this series.

I was not a fan of Forever I hope you like it more than me :)

Donna (BookDragonGirl) (bookdragongirl) Oh no, me too Heidi!!

message 9742: by Ashley Marie (new)

Ashley Marie I honestly don't know if I ever finished Forever. I enjoyed Shiver and Linger though. Need to reread that trilogy and see what happens this time around.

message 9743: by Elora (new)

Elora Mitchell | 578 comments The Shiver Trilogy was not my fave of Stiefvater's, so much so that if i'd read it first, i'm not so sure I would have read more of her works. I connected with the others so much more!
Now I'm reading The Rest of Us Just Live Here by Patrick Ness and i'm so lost....it's a coming of age/fantasy/supernatural kindof book and I have no idea if it's all really going on. But I really like his writing style.

BRIGID: I still see hints of Yancey in it, just not what I expected.

ARGH! I want to finish the Lunar Chronicles, but I just don't have the motivation for it. booo...

Currently reading...
Pride and Prejudice and Zombies by Seth Grahame-Smith
It was right beside me while I was sitting in my living room. Being bored and all, decided to start reading it. Not bad so far. Interesting how its almost the same book, but the 'new' author just added small tidbits of her own. I don't know if its going to change or not.

I really thought this book would be more of a re-telling rather than a word for word copy.

I'm not really sure how I feel about that yet, maybe there will be a bigger change near the middle? Has anybody read it yet or planning on reading it?

message 9745: by Jenny (new)

Jenny (juliababyjen) | 1572 comments I finished my reread of Bone Gap by Laura Ruby , loved it!! It was so fun to read after I knew the answers to all the mysteries, and caught all the little clues the author left that I missed the first time.

Also finished my audio (finally) of Earth & Sky (Earth & Sky, #1) by Megan Crewe This was a pretty good story, although a bit lacking in the world building part.

I am LOVING A Court of Thorns and Roses (A Court of Thorns and Roses, #1) by Sarah J. Maas its AMAZING so far!

Just finished...
My True Love Gave to Me Twelve Holiday Stories by Stephanie Perkins

I know this is a more Holiday-ish book read, but it's like -35 here in Toronto. So I felt like it was an appropriate read ^_^

I'm actually surprised I didn't like it that much. For me most of the stories was a 2-2.5 tops. I really thought it would be more romantic, but most of the stories just ended in a weird way. I actually prefer Let It Snow a lot more than this.

Re: Forever - It's been a while since I read that series, but I remember that one being my least favorite. I think I still liked it though. Lately I've been thinking maybe I should re-read those. But I agree with Ashley that it's not Maggie's best work. Scorpio Races and the Raven Cycle are a lot stronger, I think!

@Elora - Yeah, The Rest of Us is kind of a confusing book! I found it a little hard to follow, what with the main storyline and also the storyline about the "indie kids". I think it gets a little easier to understand once you get used to it. I forget, have you read anything else by Patrick Ness? I'm a HUGE fan of him, but that book is not my favorite of his.

@Bluemoon - Holy moly, -35 degrees?? And here I am in Massachusetts whining that it's like -2 degrees, haha. Yikes, I can't even imagine. :D I read P&P and Zombies a long time ago and I remember thinking it was kinda fun––but yeah, I found it disappointing that it was essentially the same exact text with just some extra zombie stuff added in. From what I remember, the whole book is like that.

message 9750: by Elora (new)

Elora Mitchell | 578 comments It is my first Ness book, Brigid. And I LOVE his writing style. I will definitely be reading more of his works.

You poor cold people :( I'm currently outside on a blanket right now enjoying my 75 degree weather.
