BRIGID: I know what you mean. I wasn't a fan of the characters as well. But I think the book's intention was just to scare you right out cause there really wasn't any character developments.

Yes, I think you're right. :) (view spoiler)

I skipped that one because Brigid was not in love with it and we are pretty similar in taste. Keep me updated please :)

I am about 1/2 way through the audio of Stand-Off
and am enjoying it very much :) It is different than the first book somewhat but a very solid read so far.

Jenny, are books 1 and 2 good too? It sounds good!

I'll let you know. For now it just seems rather vague and there are so many unanswered questions and I'm getting antsy lol.

YAY! Can't wait :)

I agree, Ashley. The relationship in Uprooted bothered me so much. I liked the Wood as the villain, but the plot was pretty slow and I was not a fan of the characters/romance.
Heidi, I'm glad you're enjoying Stand-Off! :)

I think I'll skip Uprooted as well. Booo...i was actually looking forward to it. But with all the bad reviews, no thanks.

I like the title of that one!

Me, too! :)
Finished:
Mixed feelings over all. There were some really cool aspects of it (including the crazy format!) but I wasn't as invested in it as I had hoped to be.

I'm currently rereading the Delirium series by Lauren Oliver. Already halfway through Requiem.

I liked book one a lot more than I expected but quit there because I head a lot of complaints about the follow up books. I was fine making up my own ending in my head :)

Up next, I'll probably end up reading

I tried it when it was one of our hidden gem reads but didn't finish it.

I really liked the first few books in the series but the last few have left a bad taste in my mouth. I am going to try the newest book and decide if I want to continue. I might try it on audio if you like the narration.

Let me know your thoughts. I own this on audio but haven't gotten to it yet.

She starts some dreaded love triangle and a few of the mysteries themselves are not my favorites. Still love her as a an author though so I have faith she will turn things around. She is writing like 4 or 5t series at a time because she also writes a series under the name Josie Bell so I think she needs to focus on one or two for now instead.

I didn't get into this one as much as Maguire's other books, which was a shame, because I'm a big fan of his writing! It felt a bit disjointed. I really enjoyed the Wonderland parts, and the concept was great, I just felt taken out of the story at about every chapter break.
I'm still trying to finish...
It's not that its bad, its just so much more easier to listen to audiobooks than read while on the road

Still enjoying every second of The Lies of Locke Lamora and pushing my way through a reread of Lolita.
Finished:
Kinda mixed feelings about it ... I liked it in the beginning but the second half was a bit slow for me. I guess I can post all my thoughts in the thread about it! :D

Yay! Yes. RP One was very detail orientated and at times I spaced out during the narration. I think it helped listening to the audiobook for some of the technical parts.

I could see that being helpful. It's definitely an enjoyable read, despite the detail. I wonder, too, if some of my annoyance is knowing a lot of this stuff already from my childhood (I used to play text adventure games on a tandy, for instance) and maybe if I didnt know this stuff, it wouldn't be so boring to me.

Yeah, I remember there being a lot of info-dumps in that book. I definitely skimmed here and there. :P But I liked it over all, and I'm glad you're also enjoying it!
