I have not heard of that one Dixie.

I have not heard of that one Dixie.

I felt that way until about the last third of it, then it REALLY takes off!! Ended up LOVING this read!

Started reading
last night. I checked it out from the library and the print is so small that I am going to have to buy a pair of cheapy reading glasses to keep at home (I keep my prescription glasses at work). That's one advantage of a Kindle!

@Jenny - I still need to read Magnus Chase! But yeah I've heard it's not his best, so I'm a little anxious about it. I'm waiting for a copy to come to the library for me!
@Shannen - YESSSSSS Winger is one of my favorite books (and the sequel, too)! Hope you enjoy it. :D

Yay Shannen! That was Brigid's Hidden Gem monthly pick last year and we all ended up loving it from what I remember! I have the second book to listen to soon. I hope you love Winger too. Here is our thread about it https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...

Seraphina was just plain weird but I ended up liking it - I think I gave it 3 .5 stars?? I have not heard positive things about the sequel that just came out however - it was a long time between books!

I have been LOL'ing while reading it. He sure goes on though. Kind of reminds me of Heidi's feelings about Mac in Darkfever. ;)
@Heidi - It was pretty weird! But yes I liked it too. :) I've also heard pretty negative things about the second one so I'm a little hesitant to try it––but if I do, I'll let you know how it is!
@Shannen - Hahaha yesss I love Ryan Dean's narration. He's so hilarious. :D

That sounds interesting! I have never heard of it.

I just realized I have only read around 75 books this year so far which is terrible for me. I am hoping this reading slump just has to do with my recent Korean drama obsession (watching tv instead of reading). Since the time change here I have noticed I want to go to bed earlier and read before bed so I am hoping to get back into the swing of things. There are people out there who don't even read one book per year so I guess I am doing better than a lot of the population :)

When my 3 older kids were babies, I read about a book a year, maybe 2. I was too tired to read!
ooo...when I read The City of Ember I really liked it. Maybe we can choose that for December. It's a nice light read for the holidays!
I'm really having a hard time with the Hidden Gem. I'll let you guys know by the end of this week.

Ha! You sound like my husband. He always says that same thing that it is for fun and not a chore when I complain that I didn't read enough pages!

I understand completely, Heidi, I get that way too sometimes ;)

Um I've only read 37 books this year. :P So you're way ahead of me!

Glad to hear this! I've read 1, maybe 2 books since my second was born! :(
I barely finished writing my last book, and that was a struggle. I feel like I should be doing more, especially on the reading front. It's soooo hard to get any time these days. I feel better knowing I'm not the only one.

Nope, definitely not! Its hard when you have babies! They take up so much time, and when they are sleeping, you just want to sleep too!

I'm impressed you have 3! 2 is sooo much. I couldn't even imagine it :). Not that I don't love them, mind you!

Alison graduated high school last year. The boys are seniors this year, and Tessa is a 6th grader. There is a light at the end of the tunnel, I have lots of time to read now!

Not to rush this stage, but I am looking forward to the one where I can be an adult again...lol.
Wow! 4! I'm so impressed. I have several friends with twins and I have to say, after watching them, you (and they) are true superheroes!
I don't know how anyone even has one child. You ladies are awesome. Every time I feel crappy I always tell my friend I don't know how she has kids and ever gets to be sick! Especially when they are young.

Up next,

Random Riggs is an awesome author. :)
I just finished reading...

I'm getting distracted in reading this. Need to start it ASAP because Winter is coming out in like two days!

I liked The Young Elites, but I liked Legend more. And LOVED Hollow City!

I've seen quite a few who really liked one but not the other. Legend, to me, was okay. Didn't hate it at all, but didn't particularly like it either. How different each is says a lot about Marie Lu as an author, though. Much respect :)
I read Miss Peregrine's and the graphic novel version of it(totally worth checking out) and have been anxious for Hollow City for a while.

Yay! Hope you love Cress too. It is one of my only (maybe the only) 5 star reads last year.

The crazy thing is how different they are from each other, yet both were so well done. Makes me interested in whatever Marie Lu does next.

I have such mixed feels about the ending! haha. It was creative and better than most YA Dystopians tend to end, but man, it left a bitter taste in my mind-mouth.

Heidi, 75 books is a LOT! I can relate to you having something you want to watch instead of reading sometimes; I think that is so relaxing and my husband and I like to watch certain shows together. Like Longmire, based on these books -love it!!!

I felt the same way about Fire & Ash - decent ending but not my favorite in the series.
