Oh I definitely relate to Mabel more too, haha. But I like that all the characters are so different. :D

I'm thinking of doing a re-read of Angelfall (Penryn & the End of Days, #1) by Susan Ee so I can read World After (Penryn & the End of Days, #2) by Susan Ee . Worth it?

Shannen I so need to do the same thing! I have had World After in my Kindle for a year now and can't get to it for some reason. I have heard the rest of the series is worth the read so I want to get to them but it has been so long now I likely need to re-read Angelfall.

message 9104: by [deleted user] (new)

I loved Angelfall. By the time World After came out, the story from Angelfall left my mind. My memory sucks. If the rest of the series is good, then I'll do a re-read after I finish what I'm reading now.

I haven't heard a lot of bad things about the rest of the series so I still want to read them all. My reading is SUPER slow right now. I am only reading about 4-5 books per month if I am lucky. It is a slump I guess (that and those darn Korean shows!) Do you read the Kate Daniels series Shannen? I am nearly done with the second to last book and just love this series.

message 9106: by [deleted user] (new)

I think I started reading the first book and couldn't get into it. Can't remember why though.

message 9107: by [deleted user] (new)

Heidi - So I went back and looked at my review of Magic Bites. I gave it three starts and made a note that three stars was being generous. I made a comment that it was really cheesy. You and Kourtni told me to keep reading.

Yes! The first book was really terrible to be honest. I was told the same thing about sticking with it and I am glad I did. Kate and Curran really rival Jericho and Mac.

Yay! I re-read my review and wasn't a huge fan of the ending but loved the book overall so forgave the ending.

just finished reading...
The Isle of Blood (The Monstrumologist, #3) by Rick Yancey
I'm really surprised that I didn't like this as much as I did the others. I heard that it was better than the other two. I think I just expected to be more scared

Currently Reading...
The Ghost Files (The Ghost Files, #1) by Apryl Baker
Just started this, but it's not what I expected.

I can't remember that far back (or 5 minutes ago) but I know for sure that book 2 in the Monstrumologist series was my all time favorite so I think book 3 was a little bit of a downer for me since I loved book 2 sooooo much :) Watch out because book 4 is like a bad acid trip (not that I would know because I wouldn't!)

Ummm sorry to say that I like Kate and Curran more *ducks*! Remember when I read the first Fever book and I said I wanted to punch Mac in the face because she was so annoying but you told me to stick with it?? Well the same thing applies with the Kate Daniels series! Have I ever steered you wrong :)

message 9118: by [deleted user] (new)

Geez! Why do you have to throw that back at me?! Haha! Do you think it is possible to pick up the second book without remembering anything about the first book (except that it was awful)?

Mac and Barrons are epic. That is all.

I have started my re-read of Angelfall (Penryn & the End of Days, #1) by Susan Ee . I forgot that it is so well-written.

message 9119: by Heidi (new)

Hahaha! I would think you could just start with book two. I remember not remembering much of book one because I wasn't a fan either.

message 9120: by [deleted user] (new)

I'm trying to get back into YA so I'm going to put that one off for a while (maybe a long while). Hehe!

Angelfall is the first YA book I have read in a few years. Got lost in Romance books but ready for a break. Unless it's a good angsty teen romance. ;)

HEIDI: argh! I loved the first and second book, so I know how it feels to be disappointed by this. I'm actually dreading reading the last book, but it's the last one might as well see what happens to Will.

Just finished reading...
Through the Woods by Emily Carroll
It's so good! Definitely a must read for everyone who loves graphic novels and creepy stories!

I remember really liking Isle of Blood but I agree, I don't think it was as strong as the first two. The second one was my favorite (and it scared me the most, haha).

Lair of Dreams (The Diviners, #2) by Libba Bray

I'm like 50 pages in and it's really cool so far.

I think it's worth re-reading because I realized I'd forgotten a lot of what happened! I just looked it up and apparently it's a four-book series––dang, I thought it was just going to be a trilogy! :P

message 9126: by Becky (new)

Becky (bek11) | 451 comments I have about 5 pages left of The Diviners. I will definitely have to pick up the next one since I see that Henry gets more "face time." I thought he and Theta had a great relationship and I am curious about him. Plus the mystery is creepy and awesome. I still don't love Evie, but she was better in the second half of the book.

Dixie and Heidi - I've only read one John Green book. Will have to look at more.

message 9141: by [deleted user] (new)

Heidi - I don't mind sad books but not books about the Holocaust or genocide. I just can't do it. It tears me up to think of people being murdered because of who they are. Everything makes me cry but I'm not sure why this is especially horrible for me.

Might have to read more John Green books though.

I am in a major reading slump this year. I don't know why but I can barely read 50 pages at night before I fall asleep and I don't feel like reading during the day like I used to do. I am hoping the slump will come to an end soon. I plan to start the monthly read tonight Nevermore and just started an adult PN read Vision in Silver Vision in Silver (The Others, #3) by Anne Bishop on audiobook.
