The Shadowhand book/series looks good. I wish it was on audiobook because I am so behind on print books and always listen to audiobooks faster.

Sorry, I just dislike the use of the Word cute. Cute to me is just above mediocre, so when people describe Anna and the French kiss as cute I get mad. Anna and the French kiss is a master piece, not simply "cute".

Diotto on geek girl.

2 books in and it's fantastic :) I'll let you know when I finish book 3 if it's worth putting on your long list of things to read haha. So far though, 2/3 done with the series and I've enjoyed it more than most books I've read in the past few years.

Tommy Hancock (tommyhancock) | 440 comments Finished Mercury by Hope Larson and, sadly, was kind of let down. I've been wanting to read a Hope Larson graphic novel for years now and this book sounded so promising. It wasn't that it was bad, just kind of... flat? I don't know. I loved the artwork, though. I'll give H-Lars another shot :)

Up next will probably be Theodosia and the Eyes of Horus (Theodosia Throckmorton, #3) by R.L. LaFevers

Yeah, it was kind of just a random find for me as well. Then I read it and was like "WHY ISN'T EVERYONE GUSHING ABOUT THIS!" haha

TOMMY: With all these Theodosia books you're reading, it's making me want to read book 2!

Currently Reading...
Shatter Me (Shatter Me, #1) by Tahereh Mafi

I decided to start this series because I heard good things about it. Anyone read the book/series?

I haven't read the last book yet. I LOVED the first book, the second book wasn't as good, but I still liked it. Its very different. I'm not liking the way the love triangle is going, that's my biggest issue with it.

Yea, the love triangle is a bit weird. I'm enjoying it so far. I don't know if I'm just really emotional these days, but I've been crying in parts of the book.

Definitely read book two. So much better than book one. I had a busy weekend so I haven't really started on book three yet.

I hated Shatter Me TBH, like ... really hated it. But I seem to be in the minority, I know a lot of people who love it. I just really couldn't stand the writing style; it seems to be pretty polarizing since it's so ... "different." XD

TOMMY: I think I'll put Theodosia up on my TBR list!

BRIGID: I understand why you hated it. I disliked the writing style too, but I really did enjoy the actual story. I gave it a 4

DARCY: definitely try Gallagher Girls. If you enjoy Heist Society, GG should be a must. But if you want a different genre, then maybe you should hold of on GG.

Darcy wrote: "Oh yah? I'm not sure what that would be but I really liked it!"

Yeah it wasn't because of the actual book - something about some comments the author and her agent made somewhere. I seriously can't remember! Glad you liked it though :)

message 8329: by Jenny (new)

Jenny (juliababyjen) | 1572 comments I remember Heidi. Some one wrote a really nasty review on the book, and how much it sucked, and she argued on Goodreads with the blogger...it became this huge thing. It was awhile ago.

I had read the book before all that went down, and I mostly enjoyed it. I do want to finish the trilogy eventually, there's just other books right now I want to read more!

message 8330: by Becky (new)

Becky (bek11) | 451 comments I plan on reading The Selection series, too, even though I know the author made some stupid comments in regards to a criticism of her book. I'm hoping that she learned from her mistakes. I have all three books sitting here but I also have other books to get through first.

I am currently reading:
Poison Study (Study, #1) by Maria V. Snyder Etiquette & Espionage (Finishing School, #1) by Gail Carriger

I'm not quite sure about the second one. I think I should have started with the Parasol Protectorate series.

Yeah it was her and her agent calling a Goodreads reviewer (Wendy Darling) a bitch on Twitter. They also told fans to go "like" all the positive reviews of her book so they would be more popular than Wendy's review. Her review is not even that nasty, really, so the whole thing was totally immature and uncalled for on the part of the author and her agent. So, personally I refuse to ever read that book. Even without all the drama, I don't think it sounds like something I would enjoy much, anyway.

I think (as a lot of series) the finishing School series gets better with the books. But I agree parasol protecorate is better.

Jenny (juliababyjen) | 1572 comments I finished Unleashed (Uninvited, #2) by Sophie Jordan and I was a bit disappointed with the ending. And that looks like the end of the series. So, personally, I feel this series is completely skippable. I really enjoyed the first book, mostly enjoyed the second book, but UGH, I hate it when the ending's not all that.

Also read and finished Firefight (Reckoners, #2) by Brandon Sanderson and I thought this one was really good, even better than the first book! I love the nerdish humor in these books :)

Now reading Game (Jasper Dent, #2) by Barry Lyga (loving it!) and The Body Electric by Beth Revis (okay so far), both buddy reads.

message 8343: by Heidi (new)

I have not Dixie. It seems like one of those books people love or they don't. My heart could not handle Gone Girl so I was planning on skipping it since it is supposed to be similar. Let me know what you think please :)

message 8344: by Dixie (new)

Dixie Minor | 276 comments I did not like Gone Girl either, although I thought it was brilliant and amazing. I should say I didn't like the way I felt at the end!! And it is not my type of book. I have a feeling I am getting into something similar, yet I just can't resist the intrigue. Ah, well, we will see. My husband will be reading it at the same time; we have never done that before, so maybe that will help. I can say, "Aghhh," with somebody.

Tommy Hancock (tommyhancock) | 440 comments I finished a reread of The Walking Dead, Vol. 01 Days Gone Bye by Robert Kirkman The Walking Dead, Vol. 02 Miles Behind Us by Robert Kirkman and The Walking Dead, Vol. 03 Safety Behind Bars by Robert Kirkman decided I'm gonna catch up on the comics, but so far, honestly, liking the show more.

Also finished Theodosia and the Eyes of Horus (Theodosia Throckmorton, #3) by R.L. LaFevers liking this series more and more with each book. One more to go, hope it ends strong.

Up next I'll more than likely start The Warlock (The Secrets of the Immortal Nicholas Flamel, #5) by Michael Scott

Also finished Game (Jasper Dent, #2) by Barry Lyga and it was SO GOOD, but what a cliffhanger!! I'll have to the read the last book very soon!

Still reading The Body Electric by Beth Revis and although I'm not super into it yet, I'm hopeful for it! Since it is by Beth Revis, and she wowed me with Shades of Earth!

Also going to be starting Blue Lily, Lily Blue (The Raven Cycle, #3) by Maggie Stiefvater --YAY!!!
