I got an ARC of Dove Arising but I never got around to reading it. It does sound really cool, though!
I had super high expectations for Half Bad and then I found it disappointing, but hopefully you like it more than I did! I liked the writing, but didn't feel much for the characters and I found the pacing really weird and confusing. I think I set my expectations too high because I saw a blurb that compared it to Patrick Ness and Markus Zusak. :P

... As for me I've literally been reading the same book for like seven months now, with a couple other random books here and there. *headsmack* I've been horrible lately. I would make the excuse of my senior project, but I also spend so much time on the internet when I should be reading. >_<

I'm gonna start

I'm not far into it, but so far I'm liking Half Bad. It is different, the writing almost reminds me of a contemporary, and I can see the comparison to Patrick Ness and Marcus Zusak a little bit, but its not nearly as good as those guys! But, yeah, the style is similar in some ways. I always like books that are "different" and unique, and this one is definitely that!

And now to focus in on

Just a shout out to the monthly "hidden gem" reads. This month we are reading Darcy's pick Swim the Fly
and next month we are reading Jenny's pick Keeping the Castle
.
I just finished Swim the Fly on audio narrated by the awesome Nick Podehl and I thought it was a nice mostly clean middle grade read. It had a lot of humor and good messages about friendship and being youself. Becky - you may want to read it to see if your son would like it??

I'm already worried about what I will pick for my month which I think is June.
Well boo Becky! Maybe your library will get it in the future (or another library if you have ILL).
No worries about what you are going to pick. I am sure it will be fine. We can narrow it down for you a little - that seems to be what everyone has been doing lately.

I was left to my own devices for an hour or two on Friday at a bookstore, so I decided to occupy my time reading
it's actually as interesting as people would say. I might read the second one if I find the second part.

I've read the first 3 volumes(I think 4 are out) and I absolutely love it.

You might want to check out more by Brian K. Vaughan. His stories are generally more novel-ish than most comic series, and he's less prone to overdo his series than a lot of writers. He writes to the ending he planned for, then let's it go.

Still reading

I haven't. Been on my tbr list forever. I was broke at the time it came out and my library doesn't have it and I've been trying to resist pirating despite my intense want to read it haha.

hopefully going back to

reading

I am only about 2 hours into the audio of Blood of My Blood and very anxious about the ending!

Yaaay glad you liked The Forever Song! I really enjoyed that series. (view spoiler) ["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>

I am still listening to Blood of My Blood
and The Martian
and reading a cozy in print. It is taking me over a week to read my print books lately. Ugh! I hope this improves over the summer.

I need to get my inter-library loan in for the May read, Keeping the Castle

The Squad sounds interesting Becky. I prefer the Heist Society to the Gallagher Girls (at least so far - I only read the first GG book).

I thought it was a bit outlandish at times but some of the narrator's comments were really funny. And I really liked her younger brother which is weird because I usually don't like the girl-crazy teenage boy type.
ODA: oooo...I actually enjoyed reading that book. I haven't gotten around reading the next book.

How are you liking The Martian, Heidi? Lots of science stuff, but I still LOVED it!!
It is pretty good so far Karen. I like the audiobook narrator a lot. I think maybe my expectations were too high because I am not as in love with it as I thought I would be at this point. Maybe it will happen by the end!

Was the first one good? I have not heard of the series.

I thought the first one was interesting but not great, but I was curious enough to want to know what happened next. :)

Also finished

Up next I'm gonna read
