Heidi He is DEFINITELY gay. Now I am picturing him as Marc from Ugly Betty. I love Marc. Hey -at least we can all agree we love Cinna. I am still wondering how much book 3 will shake this whole Gale vs. Peeta thing up. Damn you Suzanne Collins and your August release date! Damn you!

message 302: by Jaimie (new)

Jaimie (jaimier) | 1275 comments Yup, gay as a rainbow. See that is why I was a little on the fence to pick a team because I have a feeling she is going to turn everything on its head with book 3.

Ugh, I know. You know the book is already finished and we all have to wait until August!!

message 304: by Becca (new)

Becca | 1608 comments Personally, I haven't made the jump into either team yet nor have I read CATCHING FIRE, but here's what I see: Peeta doesn't have any guts when it comes to women until he is thrown into a situation where he has to, Gale gets angry too easily and he's all talk and no action yet, and Katniss freaking rocks! I also think Katniss is subconsciously in like with both men but won't admit it to herself because she might get hurt with either of them. She's protect and survive central.

Peeta may have seemed to prove his worth in the first book, but really, he couldn't even talk to the girl for what? ten years? C'mon! And as far as Gale goes, I don't know him, so how can I pass judgment?

I too really hope Suzanne Collins has the guts to finish this love triangle with what Katniss would really choose, but most authors love to wrap it up with a happy ending. *cough*twilightsucks*cough* Ugh!

I'm leaning team Gale, but only because Peeta is rubbing me the wrong way.

message 305: by [deleted user] (new)

Becca - I was really liking you until your "twilightsucks cough"! I was even going to forgive you for leaning toward Team Gale. Hmmm...not sure what to do with you now. ;) Haha!

Because of the Capitol, I don't think teens have normal relationships so maybe that's why Peeta didn't pursue Katniss. Plus, Katniss isn't really the boyfriend/girlfriend type. AND, Gale spent LOTS of time with her and never pursued her romantically.

message 306: by Becca (new)

Becca | 1608 comments But Peeta never even TALKED to her or even said hi before being a tribute. The guy needs to grow some serious backbone if he thinks he can win her over. Also, he hid behind the "let's pretend we're in love" and was really in love but never convinced her thing. Made me want to smack him up side the head.

This is the last I'll say about twilight in this thread, promise: I thought it was a beautiful thought executed extremely poorly. If you can't right it from the point of view of someone people can actually love, write it from someone else. Bella is one of the worst protagonists I've ever read.

message 307: by Peep (Pop! Pop!) (new)

Peep (Pop! Pop!) Becca wrote: "Bella is one of the worst protagonists I've ever read.
..."

And number one would be the girl from Forest of Hands and Teeth. Oh! I can't believe I said that. I promised myself I'd do very little to no book bashing.

message 308: by Heidi (new)

Heidi Yeah Becca! Another member who dislikes the series that shall not be named!!! Boo though because you said you are leaning towards Gale (I think I just threw up a little). Peeta is shy. Geez give the guy a break. Gale is like one of those bad boys you date in your teens or early twenties and then settle down with someone like Peeta. Team Peeta!

message 309: by Peep (Pop! Pop!) (new)

Peep (Pop! Pop!) I'd like to point out you said "settle", which is exactly what she would be doing with Peeta. Settling.

message 310: by Heidi (new)

Heidi Ugh! Settle in a good way Peep. Content - you know????

message 311: by Becca (new)

Becca | 1608 comments amen Peep, not that I'm on team Gale yet. He didn't express feelings either, he probably just assumed that Kat knew how he felt. But I do have a question for Heidi: How is Gale a "bad boy". He takes care of 5 younger siblings and hates the system he lives in. Does that make him a rebel child? I don't think so, but maybe you have more information from the second book. I'm hold #42 of 42 at the library...

message 312: by Heidi (new)

Heidi Becca - lets just agree we both dislike the "series that shall not be named" and leave it at that, because I think I am making you defend Gale (rabbit killer with an ambigious name) and that is the last thing I want.

message 313: by Peep (Pop! Pop!) (new)

Peep (Pop! Pop!) Well you know, there is no one rooting for Gale, I just want to give the guy a chance.

Becca in the second book Gale and Katniss get married, but Peeta interrupts before the vows are said.

Kidding!

I don't know what we'll do come August. We'll just have to pick another series and another team.

message 314: by Becca (new)

Becca | 1608 comments hehehe! I actually really liked Peeta by the end of HG. He's not a bad dude, but he's also not super. Neither of the male characters have really stood out as worthy of Katniss yet.

message 315: by Peep (Pop! Pop!) (new)

Peep (Pop! Pop!) Heidi wrote: "Ugh! Settle in a good way Peep. Content - you know????"

Yes, content with settling. I understand perfectly.

message 316: by Kellee (new)

Kellee Moye (kelleemoye) Becca wrote: "hehehe! I actually really liked Peeta by the end of HG. He's not a bad dude, but he's also not super. Neither of the male characters have really stood out as worthy of Katniss yet."

Peeta really begins to stand out in Catching Fire.

Go PEETA!!

message 317: by Peep (Pop! Pop!) (new)

Peep (Pop! Pop!) Boooooo Kellee! Booooo! Hissssss.

message 318: by Heidi (new)

Heidi Yeah Kellee!

message 319: by Kellee (new)

Kellee Moye (kelleemoye) Sorry Peep- Gale is just a friend... Peeta is the real deal.

message 320: by Heidi (new)

Heidi No need to apologize Kellee. No need. Love means never having to say your sorry (Katniss and Peeta's love that is :)

message 321: by [deleted user] (new)

Kellee wrote: "Sorry Peep- Gale is just a friend... Peeta is the real deal."

You've got it!

Gag... What movie is that from again? Love totally means having to say you're sorry... a lot!

message 324: by Becca (new)

Becca | 1608 comments I share the same opinion Brittany. I feel like I apologize to my hubby every other day for the poor excuse of a housewife he's married to. lol! Reading always comes first.

Brittany (finally graduated and can once again read for fun) | 1328 comments Becca, I think we need to find a way to bump you up on the list. #42? At that rate Mockingjay will be out before you can get your hands on Catching Fire!!

Glad you're leaning towards Team Gale. It's the wise decision! And I'm sure you'll love Cinna more too!

Kellee Moye (kelleemoye) Becca wrote: "I share the same opinion Brittany. I feel like I apologize to my hubby every other day for the poor excuse of a housewife he's married to. lol! Reading always comes first."

I am not the only wife that reads instead of doing dishes?!?!? That makes me feel so much better. ;)

message 327: by Susan (new)

Susan Isnt that a line from Love Story with Ryan O'Neal and Ali McGraw??? Man, am I old or what?LOL

message 328: by Sheila (new)

Sheila (sheilaj) Me too Susan from a book by Erich Segal. Very 1970!

message 329: by Sheila (new)

Sheila (sheilaj) Love Story and Valley of the Dolls were THE books when I was in HS

message 330: by [deleted user] (new)

I remember my mom talking about Love Story. Haha!

*runs and hides*

message 331: by Sheila (new)

Sheila (sheilaj) cheap shot Shannen. Don't worry my arthritic knees couldn't catch you!

message 332: by [deleted user] (new)

Yes they could because I have arthritic knees too! LOL! Had juvenile rheumatoid arthritis as a child and was recently diagnosed with osteoarthritis in both knees and I'm not even 40! I need a whambulance! LOL

message 333: by Peep (Pop! Pop!) (new)

Peep (Pop! Pop!) There's tons of cheese and whine with Team Peeta if you're hungry.

Brittany (finally graduated and can once again read for fun) | 1328 comments Well I haven't seen or read either so I guess it's my fault for calling them movies. I just thought it was some famous movie line.

It must be my youth and naivity. ;) Sorry ladies.

P.S. Have a mentioned lately how awesome Gale and Cinna are? Whatever will we fight over come August... well September, we can discuss the book for at least a month right?

message 335: by Becca (new)

Becca | 1608 comments I can almost guarantee Suzanne won't be finished with it after the third book. Hunger Games is too big. The original story might be satisfied but she'll continue the series, unless she wipes everyone out, then she'll have to stick with companion novels, like one from Gale's PoV. oooo! I could go for that.

message 336: by Annie (new)

Annie Oosterwyk Heidi wrote: "Shannen wrote: "I didn't post a spoiler, Brittany did. I'm trying to be so careful not to. Maybe we can start a new thread with a huge heading that there are spoilers?"

Ha! I always picture Cin..."

I can't get Patrick Swayze's face out of my mind. R.I.P. Earnest and Sensitive.

message 337: by Heidi (new)

Heidi Brittany - they made Love Story into a movie, so you are correct about it being a movie quote(even though you are team Gale). Gosh I feel old - I used to love that movie (hmmm....Ryan ONeil before he got old.)
Becca - you must not decide what team you are on until you read Catching Fire! Stop teasing us with "I think I am leaning this way" Geez!

message 338: by Becca (new)

Becca | 1608 comments RROFL! you're in luck. Reading it tonight cause I bought it. Library was way to slow for me.

message 339: by [deleted user] (new)

Yay, Becca! Catching Fire is great!

Brittany (finally graduated and can once again read for fun) | 1328 comments Yes!! Let us know what you think, Becca!

message 341: by Peep (Pop! Pop!) (new)

Peep (Pop! Pop!) Hooray! Yay for encouragement!

message 342: by Heidi (new)

Heidi Excellent Becca! I ended up buying both books after reading them, so you won't be upset you spent the money. p.s. - Aha girls our guilting Becca into reading it worked (hee hee).

message 343: by Becca (new)

Becca | 1608 comments Done! And OMG, I need some time to digest...

message 344: by Sheila (new)

Sheila (sheilaj) OK so now I guess I am going to have to get Catching Fire read. Peer Pressure at my age. geez you guys

message 345: by Becca (new)

Becca | 1608 comments I still haven't decided, but I'm giving it serious thought. All I can say is that Katniss better not choose by default (meaning one of them dies) or I'll be extremely disenchanted with the series. She is the type of women who deserves to make her own choices and if the author can develop her character a little more, I'm sure the answer will become obvious. However, I have a feeling its going to turn out very Pearl Harbor (the movie) even though the deed hasn't been done yet.

message 346: by Heidi (new)

Heidi Yes Sheila - you must! Becca- that was fast! I have a feeling Katinss will just end up on her own - unlike the weak heroine in "the series that shall not be named". That heroine could not even function without a man. Barf!

message 347: by Becca (new)

Becca | 1608 comments rofl! my thoughts exactly on the other series.

I have come to a team decision, sort of. Who I think she'll really end up with: Peeta, who I want her to end up with: Gale. Why? Because she CHOSE him and Peeta CHOSE him to be with her and a host of other reasons. The foreshadowing is against it though, Booo!

I'll still root for Gale though. GALE all the way baby!!!

message 348: by Heidi (new)

Heidi And I thought I liked you Becca.

message 349: by [deleted user] (new)

Bashing on my beloved Twilight AND choosing Gale?! :P *raspberries*

message 350: by Chachic (new)

Chachic Woohoo another one for Team Gale!
