Heidi OK. Everyone needs to go to zazzle.com and type hunger games into the search -- you will not believe all the shirts and other items they have! I love the Mrs. Peeta Mellack shirt! (jk) But seriously - I am kind of digging the District 13 shirt - I would be interested to know if anyone would know that it means. Darn it Christmas is too far away!

message 102: by [deleted user] (new)

Love those shirts! I have a Team Edward shirt and an Edward is a VILF button. :)

message 103: by Peep (Pop! Pop!) (new)

Peep (Pop! Pop!) Heidi I loved your Peeta shirt (not!). We didn't get around to making mine this weekend but I'll get to it. I was searching around for ideas and it's crazy to see how people are so into Peeta. Gale gets no love at all. Now I just have to root for him. Anyway, I'm thinking I'll just wash my hands of this whole series (after I finish the t-shirt, read the last book and see the movie) because this thing is turning into the next Twilight as far as fandom and I don't want people to think I'm a fangurl. I've got a reputation to keep!

@Shannen, lol at VILF!

OT: I loved V for Vendetta (with Natalie Portman that Heidi mentioned earlier so you won't think that I'm that random. At least I think that was her. Whatever. I still liked that movie).

message 104: by Heidi (new)

Heidi Sure Peep. Sure. No time! If you were a real Gale fan you would make the time. (jk:) To be honest, this whole thing has been hilarious, because it is totally not me. I slept in my Peeta shirt last night and my husband told me how big of a geek I am - I assured him I would never leave the house with that shirt on, so he felt better. I am also FAR from a fan girl, and to honest, I think I am more Pro-Katniss than either of the guys (in a non sexual way of course). She rocks! p.s. Peep aren't you the one that said you visited a fan site for a book that "will not be named" here????? People in glass houses Peep. People in glass houses :)

message 105: by Peep (Pop! Pop!) (new)

Peep (Pop! Pop!) Heidi HOW DARE YOU?!? That was a personal conversation! Now my reputation is ruined. Ruined!!! You know what? I plead the fifth. You have no proof.

And I'll have you know that the Team Gale shirt requires cutting and painting, which my husband does, not me. Only the best for Gale, only the best. I shall not settle for whatever I had on hand.

Since I've got a while before I wash my hands of this series, I think I'll make a Team Rue shirt. I think that would be adorable. Um, for history's sake. Not because I'm a fan or *cough* anything. You know.

message 106: by [deleted user] (last edited Mar 22, 2010 01:58PM) (new)

You two are both fangirls so admit it and be done with it!

I am very pro-Katniss too (and I have never been pro-what's-her-name-from-the-other-series-that-shall-not-be-named). Katniss rocks!

message 107: by Chachic (new)

Chachic I'm pro-Katniss too! Team Katniss! :) Or maybe we should all be Team Friendship instead, meaning no more arguing and just let everyone be friends. I just remembered that Team Friendship bit because Filipinos came up with that recently.

message 108: by Heidi (new)

Heidi Yes Shannen and Chachic - Katniss rocks. By the way - I just figured out that the protagonist from "the book that shall not be named" has the initials BS. BS Shannen...I think that is quite fitting.

message 109: by Chachic (new)

Chachic BS! Hahaha I never noticed that.

message 110: by [deleted user] (new)

Haha! I always think of Voldemort when we talk about something that can't be named or you know who.

Just because I love Katniss more than Bella doesn't mean you can go ripping on BS. LOL!

message 111: by Chachic (new)

Chachic It's funny though because I thing The Hunger Games is pretty popular around here because Stephenie Meyer likes it. One of the local bookstores - National Bookstores - promoted The Hunger Games with huge ads that mention that Stephenie Meyer recommends the series.

message 112: by Heidi (new)

Heidi Chachic - I am glad more people are reading it, but Stephanie Meyer also endorsed City of Bones, which I couldn't even finish. The quality of the writing between The Hunger Games and City of Bones could not be more different. I'm guessing you can tell which one I think was well written :)

Brittany (finally graduated and can once again read for fun) | 1328 comments You know Heidi, for someone who isn't a fan of "T" or Stephenie Meyer, you do seem to know quite a bit about her. More than I do anyway.

As for me, I picked up The Hunger Games b/c one of the hosts from a podcast I listen to got an ARC, and he wouldn't shut up about it. It didn't seem like my thing, but he just wouldn't shut up (for months) so finally one day I saw it at the library and decided to give it a try. Then... LOVE! Now I won't shut up about it.

message 114: by Heidi (new)

Heidi Oh Brittany - you caught me. I have a closet love for "the author who will not be named that wrote the series that shall not be named". (jk) But seriously, I do not heart her - her enforcement is in large font across the cover of City of Bones. It was kind of hard to miss. And, I actually didn't know she endorsed The Hunger Games until reading in on this thread. I know! I know! The more I talk - the more guilty I sound! But I am innocent. I swear!

message 115: by [deleted user] (new)

You caught her, Brittany!

The Hunger Games isn't something I thought I would like either but enough people were raving about it that I gave it a shot. Like Brittany, I fell in love!

Brittany (finally graduated and can once again read for fun) | 1328 comments Thanks Shannen! It was very difficult. She's a tricky one. (hehe)

Brittany (finally graduated and can once again read for fun) | 1328 comments Heidi, I just got on zazzle and checked out those shirts! Yes, I'm a day late, but I wasn't able to get on the computer yesterday. Anyway, I was laughing so hard. Loved the "will kiss for food" shirt, and I'm even Team Gale!!

message 118: by [deleted user] (new)

OK, now you're just kissing up to her! LOL!

message 119: by Heidi (new)

Heidi Brittany - aren't they hilarious? My two favorites were "I won the Hunger Games and all I got was this lousy t-shirt" AND "I see dead tributes".

Brittany (finally graduated and can once again read for fun) | 1328 comments Shannen- not true! I admit to liking "that series which shall not be named" and I have NOT been converted to team Peeta. It's all about Gale (and Cinna).

But those shirts are super funny! I confess I kinda wanna buy the Quarter Quell one. I like the design.

Heidi- did you see the one that said "Peeta can put a bun in my oven anytime?"

message 121: by [deleted user] (new)

I saw those shirts. They are hilarious!

message 122: by Jaimie (new)

Jaimie (jaimier) | 1275 comments My favorite is Haymitch is my hero. Gotta love him.

Ha! Kissing up!

message 124: by Heidi (new)

Heidi Aren't they great? Brittany - I think my husband would draw the line at that "Peeta can but a bun in my oven anytime"! But seriously - I am still really digging that District 13 shirt on page 1. Hmmmmm......

Brittany (finally graduated and can once again read for fun) | 1328 comments Heidi - I'm not saying I would wear it... even if it applied to Gale, but it definitely got a good laugh out of me.

message 126: by [deleted user] (new)

Confession: When the New Moon movie was released and I ordered my Team Edward shirt to wear to the premiere, I almost ordered a shirt for my then-newly pregnant sister that said "Edward's baby" with an arrow pointing to her belly. :D

message 127: by Heidi (new)

Heidi Shannen - I am going to pretend that you did not just name a movie from "the series that would not be named", because I am sitting here with my mouth hanging open. NOT only did you confess to this -- but I am more in shock that they even make such a shirt!!

message 128: by [deleted user] (new)

What's even more funny is that my mental-health-counselor-masters-degree-toting sister said that she would have worn it! With the exception of my sister, my girlfriends and I (all in our late 30's) wore our respective Team Edward and Team Jacob shirts. Our poor husbands!

BTW, I have only one friend who is not a Twi-freak. She refused to see the movies but we made her come to see it when we were all seeing it for the second time (OK, it was the 6th time for me). Anywho, she said that she actually liked New Moon but she still rolls her eyes when we talk about it. :)

message 129: by Jaimie (new)

Jaimie (jaimier) | 1275 comments I see your "Edwards Baby" and raise you Jacob Black panties. Yes I made them for my BFF for x-mas and yes my boyfriend thought I was crazy but the look on her face when she realized that she now owned a pair of boycut briefs with a half naked T.L. on them? Priceless. The year before she thought she had got me good by getting me an Edward bookmark that I would feel obligated to use in public - I showed her.

message 130: by Chachic (new)

Chachic It's funny that we keep talking about the series which shall not be named in this thread. I read the series and dragged two of my girlfriends to both movies (they've never read the books) and all they said afterwards was, "Why did you make us watch that?" but now it's become a tradition for us to watch all of the movies from the series.

Also, here's a funny Lolcats review of New Moon: http://microsuede.blogspot.com/2009/1...

My girlfriend would love those panties! Her hubby wouldn't who asked him? LOl!

What about Zac Efron as Peeta?

I agree! They should get non-famous actors so people won't be biased.

Heidi Shannen wrote: "Jaimie wrote: "I see your "Edwards Baby" and raise you Jacob Black panties. Yes I made them for my BFF for x-mas and yes my boyfriend thought I was crazy but the look on her face when she realized ..."

Who are you people????? I know NO ONE that is even into "the series which will not be named" - and most of the people I know haven't even read the book (I *cough* *cough* may have told them not to waste their time, but still free will people).

message 135: by Heidi (new)

Heidi Bluemoon wrote: "i refused to watch New Moon. No matter how many people drag me I say "NO" and push them away from me in disgust!"

Yeah! A voice of reason in a sea of craziness. :)

message 136: by Heidi (new)

Heidi Ugh! This is a Hunger Games thread people. Go on over to the other thread. Geez!

message 137: by Heidi (new)

Heidi Ok confession time. I may have glanced over the fact that Peeta has blond wavy hair with blue eyes, and secretly started picturing him with brown straight (sexy) hair and grey eyes. So much so, that I actually thought that is how he is described in the book! This sucks. I don't like blondes. I like brunettes. Everything I have ever thought has been brought into question!

message 138: by Chachic (new)

Just change the hair to black and you're on your way to becoming Team Gale!

Chaschi - that is my very fear!

message 140: by Chachic (new)

Chachic Heidi, come over to the dark side! We have candy! (Dark because Gale's hair is dark)

message 141: by Peep (Pop! Pop!) (new)

Peep (Pop! Pop!) ...The kind of candy that's good for you.....

message 142: by Heidi (new)

Heidi Ohhhhh - you temptresses!

message 143: by [deleted user] (last edited Mar 24, 2010 08:45AM) (new)

Just picked up Catching Fire from the library last night but I've got to finish the book I'm reading before I can start it. I'm trying to get my hubby to read the series but he isn't being very cooperative. And my son is going to start reading it as soon as he finishes book 4 of the series that shall not be named (which he loves but hides it in his room so nobody knows he's reading it because he's too cool). ;)

I have lent out my series to 7 ADULTS (youngest 25, oldest 50) so those around you have probably read it they just know how much you hated it and don't want to fess up. That is the last "T" comment here I promise. :)

message 145: by Heidi (new)

Heidi Shannen - I am so excited you are going to read Catching Fire and I am sure you will agree with me (and not Peep)that it is just as good, if not better than the first.

message 146: by Peep (Pop! Pop!) (new)

Peep (Pop! Pop!) Shannen trusts my judgment, unlike some people here! I said it was good. Three stars is good right?

message 147: by [deleted user] (new)

I'll be finishing up my book at lunch today and will start Catching Fire tonight. Can't wait!

Brittany (finally graduated and can once again read for fun) | 1328 comments I also have to say that Catching Fire is BETTER. I personally enjoyed it a lot more, even if that's not so much the popular opinion. Then again, I'm all about character development so it played to the things I love.

Heidi - you definitely need to come over to the dark side. Just keep thinking about beautiful brunette Gale with those lovely gray eyes...

I feel like Anakin Skywalker here! p.s. - I thought Catching Fire was better too, unlike some silly people on here! Yeah Shannen -- so glad you are starting it.

And we all know how that turned out. You might as well give in and start speaking like James Earl Jones. It is pointless to resist the powers of the dark side.
