You should go, Heidi! You can be the really weird lady who screams, "I love you, Peeta!" I'd do it for Rob. LOL!

What is with the Gale love? I so don't get it. Sorry, Peep.

Oh, you should go for sure!! The jury is still out for me on this kid as Peeta. From the first description of the character in the books I had a clear picture of him in my head and it was Hunter Parrish. I was SO pissed when he didn't get the part. I gave Pattinson the benefit of the doubt as Edward and he surprised me. Maybe this kid will, too.

message 1403: by Heidi (new)

Heidi I am pretty darn psyched about Josh playing Peeta Melodie so I hope he does not disappoint either of us.

I'm psyched too. But as I said Kentuckian bias. And he's a cutie.

I think Hunter Parrish is a little too slender. Not that Josh is husky but he has a little more meat on his bones. I always pictured William Moseley from The Chronicles of Narnia but he seems to have dropped off the face of the earth.

Cassi aka Snow White Haggard | 2261 comments And he's British. Not accepting any Brits in District 12.

I love my Brits. :P

Rolf! Don't hold it against him. British accents are sexy.

I always thought he could have beefed up like Taylor Lautner did. He would have been absolutely perfect then!

Cassi aka Snow White Haggard | 2261 comments Yes British accents are sexy. But I HATE fake Kentucky/Southern/Appalachian accents. So having someone from Kentucky was really a huge relief for me. HUGE.

I hate fake KY/Appalachian accents, too! I know how they REALLY sound and too many people make them sound stupid! Pisses me off!

Cassi aka Snow White Haggard | 2261 comments Sometimes it's a little offensive how overdone they make them. Yes we have accents. They vary across the region (mine isn't very strong because I had to have speech therapy as a child) but accents = ignorance and that's often the perception.

message 1414: by [deleted user] (new)

I never thought about District 12 residents having accents.

message 1415: by Melodie (new)

Melodie (melodieco) Shannen (Is it March 23rd yet?) wrote: "I never thought about District 12 residents having accents."

I did as I always identified it with Appalachia. Coal=that part of the country for me.

message 1416: by Becca (new)

Becca | 1608 comments The reader on the audio version has a pretty strong accent, but she sounds too old to read for Katniss, imo.

Cassi aka Snow White Haggard | 2261 comments Shannen (Is it March 23rd yet?) wrote: "I never thought about District 12 residents having accents."

When I read about it I didn't think about it. Appalachian accents are what I hear everyday. But when they started talking about casting I started thinking about it more.

This is coal country for sure.

message 1418: by Diana (new)

Diana Went by Hot Topic today and saw all the merchandise, while trying not to act like an obsessed fan I kind of realized I never really decided how I felt about the actors (nor did I ever pick sides).
I always pictured William Moseley too, though I never put too much thought into accents. I also never really sensed one from the narrator in the audio book, what bugged me about it was that her voice seemed really hollow; although hind-sight maybe that was the point.

message 1419: by [deleted user] (new)

Yay! Another person who pictured William Moseley! I thought the audiobook was meh but maybe audiobooks just aren't for me.

Shannen!!! I have told you several times that the Hunger Games audiobook sucked!

Lloyd | 415 comments Heidi wrote: "Oh yes! Chaos Walking has my heart as well (I actually love it a little more -- don't tell anyone). Other than that I have not read anything that has blown me away."

I enjoyed The Hunger Game trilogy, and can't really compare the two...but I like Chaos Walking better. And I don't even need to be secretive about it! :)

I'm SO itching to re-read the whole series again...soon!

message 1422: by Becca (new)

Becca | 1608 comments I listened to the audiobook long enough to know I wouldn't like that version and stuck to print.

I pictured William Moseley too, but chunkier, not chubbier, just more meat on him.

message 1423: by [deleted user] (new)

I like to think of The Hunger Games as Chaos Walking light. Chaos Walking was a much deeper and heavier series. THG will always hold a special place in my heart though.

I'm loving all the William Moseley love! I think Josh will do a good job but he isn't who I pictured when I was reading. I also didn't picture Rob Pattinson as Edward Cullen AT ALL and look where that got me! Haha!

message 1424: by Melodie (new)

I'm loving all the Will..."

I remember the first picture I saw of Pattinson as Edward I nearly gagged! I had never seen him before as I had only ever seen the first Harry Potter movie (and didn't like it!). Now I can't picture anyone else as Edward!

message 1425: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) I didn't read the books until after the first movie, so he was always Edward to me. Well, Edward and Cedric Diggory.

message 1426: by [deleted user] (new)

I knew Rob as Cedric Diggory only (I wasn't a Cedric fan) and was disappointed to see that he was going to play MY Edward. Now, I can't imagine anyone else as Edward and I'm so smitten with Rob. He is hilarious to watch in interviews and is so humble. If he was a jerk, there's no way I would like him.

What does everyone think of Liam Hemsworth as Gale? I try not to think of Gale too much (hehe) but I'm not too sure about Liam's hair dye. His profile poster looks so weird but so does Josh's.

message 1427: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) He looks better as a blonde (Liam), but honestly I really don't care either way about Gale's casting, lmao.

Wendy F wrote: "He looks better as a blonde (Liam), but honestly I really don't care either way about Gale's casting, lmao."

*evil laugh* ;)

message 1429: by Bethany (new)

Bethany | 578 comments Gale, shmale! Nah, I think Liam makes a good Gale, I'm just not a huge Gale fan. I'm excited to see Josh as Peeta. I've liked him in everything else I've seen him in. I think the picture I had of Peeta wasn't of any particular actor, but William Moseley is pretty dang close to what I pictured, and hey, Rob does an awesome job of an American accent, I'm sure they could've trained William as well, but oh we'll. It's done now and I just can't wait to see the finished product :D

message 1430: by Melodie (last edited Feb 23, 2012 03:53PM) (new)

Melodie (melodieco) I think pretty much everyone they've cast in Hunger Games is good with the exception of Peeta, as he's the only one I had a clear picture of in my head while I read the books. I'm willing to give the kid who's playing him a shot, though! I think Woody Harrelson will be a great Haymitch!

message 1431: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) I love Josh for Peeta. I think he's going to be amazing!

message 1432: by Heidi (new)

Heidi I am reserving judgement about the cast until I see the movie but I didn't have anyone in my head while reading the series. As I noted I like Josh. He seems so funny and grounded and he indicated he identifies with Peeta in real life so that helped me.

Cassi aka Snow White Haggard | 2261 comments Heidi wrote: "I am reserving judgement about the cast until I see the movie but I didn't have anyone in my head while reading the series. As I noted I like Josh. He seems so funny and grounded and he indicated..."

You should go meet Josh and steal him for me. Yep. I'll give you books and Girl Scout cookies to do this.

Yes I'm aware that it totally didn't related to your quote. I just want a hiking buddy and him being grounded led me to hiking buddy which led to plotting...

Did everyone see the official Merch?

http://www.themarysue.com/official-hu...

I want the Team Katniss shirt!

message 1435: by [deleted user] (new)

I like the "May the odds be ever in your favor" shirt.

message 1436: by Jim (new)

Jim Franz | 36 comments When I was reading the books, I never thought of the people in District 12 as having an accent either, Shannen. If I thought of anyone having an accent, it was always people from the Capitol, and it was always more of an affectation.

message 1437: by Diana (new)

Diana Shannen (Is it March 23rd yet?) wrote: "I like the "May the odds be ever in your favor" shirt."

Me too, especially since it's pretty simple. I want a shirt but the flaming mockingjay or someone's face seem a little too bold for me.
I also like the parachuting croissant since only the people who know what it is will know what it means.

I'll all for accepting the actors and reserving judgement but the one thing that's bugging me is Josh's hair, I'm just not used to the blond.

I want the flaming mockingjay shirt and plan to hit Hot Topic this weekend to get one. I got 3 different colors of the nail polishes on eBay (just an excuse to buy new nail polish!) and the colors are actually pretty great looking. Have an appointment for a mani-pedi next week and have to decide which one to take with me.

message 1439: by Diana (new)

Diana I definitely want the nail polish I saw it the other day, I don't even know why I didn't buy any.

I wonder if they purposely chose UK colors for that? So cute. I'm trying not to buy anything more during Feb because I made a BIG software purchase. (Will favorite and come back to)
