Wendy... this boy would make a way better Jace than Jamie, don't you think? I know I'm in the wrong discussion thread for this, but I cannot get over it :(

message 1152: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) Hahaha, Chord Overstreet? I never thought of him as Jace... The fact that I'm not a big fan of this Jamie kid, i think alot of people would be a better Jace. I'm not sure that Overstreet could do the snark... he's such a goofball on Glee. He's really attractive though.

I'm gonna have to think about who could have been a Jace other then Alex P... there are so many better candidates.

Jamie just looks like a child to me and I imagined Jace as feeling more masculine.

message 1153: by Jeanine (new)

Jeanine (truejourney) | 120 comments Yeah... I think I'm at the point where I feel anybody other than Jamie will do... I reall, really hope this is all heresay. At first, I didn't even think Alex was pretty enough to play Jace, but now... I wish that it was him.

message 1154: by Heidi (new)

Heidi Ugh! No Jace talk here! I need a space where Jace is not spoken about. Just one little space. Is that too much to ask?

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) I was waiting for Heidi to come in and flip out. :p

(I was a good girl in this topic)

message 1156: by Heidi (new)

Heidi bwhahaha - I am predictable aren't I?

I thought that was brilliant! He'll do creepily malevolent really well, I feel.

message 1158: by Jeanine (new)

Jeanine (truejourney) | 120 comments Definitely not... Jace should be the center of every topic!!! lol jk

message 1159: by Jeanine (last edited May 31, 2011 04:00PM) (new)

Jeanine (truejourney) | 120 comments I am not good with names, so bear with me on this, but the kid that is set to play Peeta looks like he is about 12 years old. I'm not sure I like him.

message 1160: by Becca (new)

Becca | 1608 comments Donald Sutherland as Pres. Snow...oooo! I'm loving the thought! He is an exceptional actor too. This may be nit-picking a little and I don't really care that much, but he's really tall and I was under the impression the entire series that Pres. Snow was a rather small man, like shorter than Katniss. I could be way off base. Either way Sutherland is an awesome pick for the Pres.

Huh. I remember thinking of him as tall and lanky. Guess I should dig out my books and see cause now I can't remember how he is described re: height.

I always pictured snow as short and round... HHhmmm.. I'll have to pay more attention when I reread the series, which I am planning on doing before the movie comes out :)

message 1163: by Heidi (last edited May 31, 2011 07:09PM) (new)

Heidi None of the actors are who I pictured so far but I am going with it because they seem to be getting some good actors so I hope they know what they are doing.

Cassi aka Snow White Haggard | 2261 comments Heidi (don't listen to me) wrote: "None of the actors are who I pictured so far but I am going with it because they seem to be getting some good actors so I hope they know what they are doing."

I actually prefer the school of thought "just pick the most talented" so I've been very pleased.

message 1165: by Heidi (new)

Heidi As I said. I'm going with it :)

message 1166: by Jeanine (new)

Jeanine (truejourney) | 120 comments I am really happy with their picls for Effie Trinket and Haymitch... I pictured Cinna to be more modelesqu, less rocker, but I do love Lenny. I've not seen the two boys they've casted for Gale and Peeta in anything so I can't say whether I am dissapointed or not in them... But, the guy that is playing Gale seems like he would have fit better as Peeta, as far as looks go.

message 1167: by Becca (new)

Becca | 1608 comments Hahaha! It's funny we all thought of Pres. Snow differently. My hubby actually thought of him as short of stature and fragile but he's also thrilled with the Donald Sutherland casting.

message 1168: by Veregeia (new)

Veregeia (sweetevil) | 10 comments I must say I'm really disappointed by the choice of Katniss. I think this actress doesn't represent the role of Katniss at all.

message 1169: by Jeanine (new)

Jeanine (truejourney) | 120 comments Has anyone seen Jennifer Lawrence act? I haven't and I am wondering if she is a good actress... I sure hope so. She looks like she might be bigger than the boy who is set to play Peeta... I could be wrong. I haven't seen any pics of them standing side by side.

:P I didn't picture any of them like this...

Cassi aka Snow White Haggard | 2261 comments Even though Hunger Games is "futuristic" I often forget that they dress like their from the past because in the districts they've gone back in time a bit.

message 1174: by Jeanine (new)

Jeanine (truejourney) | 120 comments The picture of Peeta is a better visual than the others I've seen. I know it doesn't really show his face, but he's not skinny like I thought :)

message 1175: by Heidi (new)

Heidi I am getting super excited. I wonder if Josh put on some weight for the role. I bet he did since Peeta is not stick thin.

message 1176: by Jeanine (new)

Jeanine (truejourney) | 120 comments What other movies is Josh in?? I wonder if I've seen any. I haven't been watching a whole lot of TV or movies :( Too much to do and I'd rather read when I have free time then sit and watch a movie.

message 1177: by Heidi (new)

Heidi He was in Little Manhattan and Bridge to Terabithia and more recently he was in The Kids Are All Right.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) Heidi (don't listen to me) wrote: "I am getting super excited. I wonder if Josh put on some weight for the role. I bet he did since Peeta is not stick thin."

That's what I was thinking too.

message 1179: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) Funny, I never pictured Josh as stick thin. I pictured him as thicker then Liam Hemsworth.

These pictures and all the conversation is just making me so excited. It's getting harder to wait.

message 1180: by Jeanine (new)

Jeanine (truejourney) | 120 comments Wait.. He is the little boy in Bridge to Teribithea??? LOL.. That just totally ruined it for me.

message 1181: by Peep (Pop! Pop!) (new)

Peep (Pop! Pop!) Wasn't he in RV? And he plays a sullen kid a lot, but I think he is REALLY good at it. Oh, he was in the one movie where they go into outer space. It was kind of like Jumanji... I can't think of the title right now.

message 1182: by Stacia (the 2010 club) (last edited Jun 06, 2011 02:39PM) (new)

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) He was in Zathura also, since that's what I think you're referring to.

message 1183: by Peep (Pop! Pop!) (new)

Peep (Pop! Pop!) Yes, that's the one! Wasn't even close to getting the name of that one.

message 1184: by Heidi (new)

Heidi He has been acting since he was really young. I am excited to see how he does.

message 1185: by Kurukka (new)

Kurukka Okay, I wanted to discuss something with you guys. On The Hob website, there is an article about the brazilian translation of "Mockingjay" : A Esperenza, which means Hope. In the comments, people argue that it is a wrong translation since there is no hope in the book. And I've seen everywhere that people think that hope is definitely missing from the series.

I know that hope isn't an obvious theme explored in Mockinjay, but am I the only one bothered by these thoughts ? Here is what I posted in the comments :

"It actually does make sense. The Mockingjay (original title), Katniss, IS the symbol of hope for the people of Panem. The ending ends in a way that suggests hope for a better future. In a war, hope is what we hold on to. Not vengence or rage, at least, it should not be. The primrose that Peeta brings to Katiss is also a symbol of hope. That things can blossom again.

I think it's sad that you consider there is no hope in Mockingjay. If there is no hope, then there is no point in standing up and fighting back."

I'd like the ad the symbolism of the cover. We have the chance to have covers that actually have a meaning. The blue cover of Mockingjay with the bird extending its wings makes me think of hope. Bitterweet hope, maybe, but still hope.

message 1186: by Julie (new)

Julie I think that's pretty neat that the translation means hope. I definitely agree that Katniss represents hope to the people of Panem. If you can't have hope then you are left with nothing.

message 1187: by Heidi (new)

Heidi Even though Mockingjay was dark, I held out hope the entire time I read it that things would get better and Katniss would be left alone to live her life in peace. I never lost that hope, so that means something I think.

message 1188: by Heather (new)

Heather (hmpotts724) | 4 comments I agree about the hope part. Katniss is the symbol of hope to the rebellion however, Peeta is the source of her hope. This is obvious by the fact that she practically shuts down in Mockingjay when he is gone, she thinks he is dead, and when he is hijacked. Besides that, the ending is extremely hopeful for a better, brighter future. Peeta gives her that. She would never have survived, would have been just like Haymitch, if Peeta had not been in her life showing her that there is life after the games and the war. They aren't whole by any means but they hold each other together with their love and find happiness in that.

Yes, I agree completely. It's Peeta who kept her going on in the first two volumes, thus making the people of Panem believe in her. When Peeta's captured, Katniss deflates like a balloon. She's too broken and hurt, but she did her job. She's not as strong as the people of Panem think she is but she's still an image you know ? It's enough to make them win the war.

message 1196: by Kurukka (new)

Kurukka I voted. I didn't read Hush, Hush but I've read enough about Patch to not like him.

message 1198: by Kurukka (new)

Kurukka I just love it. They're perfect (even if I don't care that much about Gale).

Cassi aka Snow White Haggard | 2261 comments It's so weird to see Peeta look so angry. I picture him as smiling even though it makes sense he wouldn't always smile.

Josh pulls off the blonde well.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) It looks natural on him. They did a good dye job. Wish they'd put a couple more inches of length on Gale. I picture him with messy hair.

Oh well, it's coming together a lot better than I imagined to start, so that's good.
