Duration Now - December 31st.

This is a new challenge Lauren thought up, and i think its going to be a lot of fun.

It works like this:

We get a point everytime we read a book, that has our name/surname/middle-name in the title, or if the author has the same name/surname/middle-name as you.

For example

Lauren - Fallen by Lauren Kate (1)
Jill - Jack & Jill by James Patterson (1)
Fraser - Marie Antoinette: The Journey by Antonia Fraser (1)

Now if she reads:
Undercover Attraction by Lauren Fraser
she will get 2 points

Now some of us have hard names, like me:
Lu-Marie Combrink

Now because there are no Lu-marie's, I can do this:

Lu - A New Lu (example of title) (1)
Marie - Marie Antoinette: The Journey by Antonia Fraser (1)
Combrink Kwinksinnig by Johan Combrink (I got the short straw here lol) (1)

Now I am going to try not to do this, but if you have a hard name, like Lu, different spelling of it can be allowed, like Lou. Or Niecole can use Nicole.

Also you can try keep in interesting by not reading the same author, but trying new ones :)

Hope this explains it, everyone can start posting their lists, and tick them off as they go :) It starts now until December 31st.

Emma (emmauk007) | 1081 comments What a great challenge!! Quite difficult though hence the “Challenge part” There really isn’t such a big choice when you come to look for books depending on your name. I couldn’t find anything with my surname it is very unusual so I only had my first and middle names to go with. I ended up repeating authors although I didn’t want to do this, as the books that I found I didn’t want to read, or I couldn’t find them to read. Anyway looking forward to it, and happy that this challenge introduced me to new authors.

Thanks Lauren for the idea 

Emma By Jane Austen
The Nanny Diaries By Emma Mcloughlin
War for the oaks By Emma Bull

Four Souls By Louise Erdrich
Angus, thongs and full frontal snogging By Louise Rennison
Brutal Telling By Louise Penny

On the Bright Side, I'm Now the Girlfriend of a Sex God: By Louise Rennison

Knocked Out by My Nunga-Nungas By Louise Rennison

Lauren Smith Nice idea!

For now I'll just use what's on my shelf, but I can expand later. I don't have a second name, but my name is pretty easy :)

Moxyland - Lauren Beukes (already re-read this this year, not sure if I want to do it again so soon)

Only Forward by Michael Marshall Smith
On Beauty by Zadie Smith
White Teeth by Zadie Smith
The Autograph Man by Zadie Smith
The Accidental by Ali Smith

Ah some of you have it easy!!!
But thanks for the Name change there Lu!!!
Reading Niecole would be very difficult, and Smit to.

Emma, you seem to have a few good books there hehe and I think the ones by Louise Rennison sounds super fun :)

Ok here goes

Niecole (Nicole)

The History of Love by Nicole Krauss
Kommt ein Mann ins Zimmer. 7 CDs . Hörbuch by Nicole Krauss
Die Geschichte der Liebe by
Nicole Krauss

Lauren Smith Man, I'm so grateful for the 'h' in my surname! Otherwise I'd have next to nothing to read, since I can't read in Afrikaans (I understand it, but not well enough to read a book).

On the other hand, if I was Smit instead of Smith, my Afrikaans would probably be better...

message 7: by [deleted user] (new)

Hehe for sure...
I must say I knew that Smit was a common afrikaans surname, but not THIS common haha... there are soooo many.
But the Nicole part, there seems to be a few good books I'd love to read. Um but there are like 903 pages full of them!!!! I'd need so many years to read all of the Nicole books, maybe I should stick to my normal name, Niecole, there arent ANY books to go with that hehe

message 8: by Emma (new)

Emma (emmauk007) | 1081 comments It seems you are way ahead of the game Nieole, seeing as I only picked 10!! I think ou did really well i finding so many. Like I mentioned earlier I only chose the books that I am going to read, as there are other authors with the name Emma, but I am just not interested in reading their books.

I have never heard of Louise Renisson before, so due to this challenge it seems that I have stumbled upon some fun books. I cant wait to read one.

Surely if your last name is Smit..then you can look for Smith? Isnt it just the Afrikaans version of english Smith? Not that I know a thing about the Afrikaans language ofcourse

I still dont understand why people would think I would want to buy a donkey. ;-)

message 10: by [deleted user] (new)

Ah please dont let me :), then I'll totally win this challenge, Nicole Smith might just be the most common name this site has seen then hehe, I'll have millions to cover! :)

message 11: by Sonette (new)

Sonette | 384 comments Noooooooo!!!! Know any good writers named Sonette?? And any books with Lancaster which is not HISTORY????

message 12: by [deleted user] (new)
